I just started back up working at the school and three of my coworkers mentioned that I had looked slimmer!

Post VSG Hair Loss
sierra.1834 replied to Rey Rodriguez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's definitely a hard pill to swallow and I actually just died my brown hair blonde because I noticed that my hair was thinning. The blonde makes it look far less noticeable on my head. I didn't have the most hair to start with, so when I noticed that it was coming out a little more than normal, I panicked. However, from what I've heard, the hair can come back because the hair follicle itself isn't dying or being damaged, it's the hair coming out of it that is weak. While I don't know if that's 100% true, it gives us hope!!! -
My surgery is on Monday and the nerves are setting in for sure (the good ones!). I was wondering if anyone had any advice for keeping my occupied during post-op recovery. I am not worried about being hungry, but I want to keep my mind occupied as much as possible to make sure I don't go crazy in during the recovery stage. I've heard some people recommend coloring books and mindful readings, but I wanted to open it up to everyone for some extra help 😊

Incision Tenderness with Ab Exercises
sierra.1834 replied to GummyBearQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard a lot of mixed reviews regarding exercising after surgery. I know that for most people, you get cleared at 6 weeks post-op to do more intensive activities. However, I've heard great success stories for people that didn't go all out with exercises until 4-6 months post op. I know that everyone is different, but I would definitely talk to your physician to get a definitive answer and solution. -
Preop to vsg question
sierra.1834 replied to mybestself76's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Typically it depends on your insurance and your surgeons availability. I had to wait about 3 months out because of scheduling, but my best friend only had to wait 3 weeks. I'd contact your doctor's office in order to get a solid answer. -
Cannot imagine life a year from now
sierra.1834 replied to vikingbeast's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It really is exciting. A little scary, but exciting to know that things are going to be changing for the better. Today was the first day I went for a walk in shorts since high school and it felt so liberating. I never thought I would feel comfortable enough to do that again. I imagine my success in the future is going to break through those barriers even further and I'll have even more "firsts" to accomplish. I look forward to my future and I hope you do to! -
I just started taking benefiber daily! Fingers crossed!!!!!

I’m sure this has been addressed before, and I know it’s a common issue for post op patients, but does anyone know if gastric sleeve patients can take the chocolate sennoside laxatives??? I have some of the ones in the attached picture and I’m hoping I can take them 😬

I'm just started my puree diet today and I was worried about the same thing. I had my surgery on the 26th of July and I lost about 10 pounds pre-op, and I lost about 20 pounds since my surgery. I would hate to see the scale go up, but I understand that my body is just running its course to get back to "normal."

I definitely recommend taking a look into Protein2O. They have quite a few flavors and are pretty tasty (in my opinion). I also recommend the chocolate Fairlife protein drinks once you get into that stage again, they taste just like chocolate milk!

I too am so over the liquid stage and I'm really looking forward to the puree stage! I have sooooo many recipes saved in my pinterest😅 I also have had an affinity towards cooking healthy meals for my husbands, but I don't want to make anything till I can taste test lol

Ok I'm going to have to try to find those popsicles at Walmart!!!
-
Didn't even know they had that option!!! Anyone on here try it out before?
-
I had my surgery on the 26th, so I am technically 5 days out. I am getting really tired of my protein and soup mix that I've been alternating through. I'm not saying I want more food, I just want something different. I had a sudden craving for peanut butter and I was wondering if anyone knew of any way to squash that craving? Any protein powder/drink recommendations?
-
Aw I'm sorry hun ☹️I hope you start feeling better soon and get lots of rest!

Me too! Tomorrow really couldn't come soon enough. I am getting antsy (in a good way I guess), and I just want to spend the night in the hospital parking lot lol!!!!

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone used an abdominal binder of any sort during their post op recover. I keep seeing ads pop up on my feed for one, but I wonder if it is a necessity or something that may be recommended?
-
I'm definitely going to try that out once I get cleared for coffee!!!
-
That's reassuring to hear! I also started working out pretty intensely about six months pre-op and I'm hoping I have a similar post-op experience to your own!!!

I am scheduled for Monday (07/26)! I am nervous, but in a good way? Like I know that the process is going to be the hardest thing I've ever done, but I know it will make me the happiest I've ever been.

I am well into my two week pre op liquid diet and I sweat this is killing me. I'll admit that I ate a tuna packet early on, then took some magnesium citrate to get it out of my system. DO NOT CHEAT! I promise it is not worth it! Magnesium citrate is a fate that I wish on no one! My only advice is to diversify what you're eating as much as possible. I went from Premier drinks, to Fairlife protein, to different types of soups that are validated under the liquid diet. I was craving salty things, so the soups definitely helped me out with that!

I recently discovered the Fairlife protein drinks and I must say... THEY ARE THE BEST!!! I was getting kinda bored of the Premier Protein drinks, even though they have multiple flavors. But the chocolate Fairlife is gonna be a game changer!
