I also agree, I am one week post op and I was told mushies, such as mashed potatos, cottage cheese and puddings.

I went to the doctor today for my one week post op. I lost 15lbs. Now I graduated to mashed potatos and farina/oatmeal. Yay, I can start to eat.

I didn't have a morphine button. They just gave me a pain killer and sent me home.

I have a question. Where is the port??? I am not sure where the location is I know that I hurt and I am sensative in the center of my stomach, but I cant lay on my right side right now.

I was wondering the same thing. I keep thinking I am hungry, my stomach is loud, but then it passes, so I think its gas

I can drink broth, but right now just looking at it is making me sick. I only have a few more days then I can start w/the protein drinks. I am looking forward to drinking them. Thank you

My doctor wants me on clear fluids for one week until I see him. I am starving and I actually cant wait for the protein drinks.

I have a pain in the center of my chest. I think that its from the hernia. Sometimes it hurts when I swallow too much. I will ask when I go back on monday. They didn't weigh me before my surgery. I forgot all about it but when I stepped on the scale it didn't seem like I gained anything from the surgery. Thank you

I had my surgery on 12/16 and I still feel like I was hit by a bus. As I found out, I had a hiatal hernia which ruptured, so the surgern had to sew that up, then he did the band. I feel better today then I did that night, I think that it was mostly the anasthesia. Now I have just a little pain.

Yes, My name is Marianne, when I got declined the insurance company made me wait 30 days before they gave me an answer. I am so glad that its time. Also on friday, they laid me off from my job, so this is just in time. I have coverage until the end of the month and then its over. I also dont have any quams about missing Christmas food, there will be many more Christmas' that I can enjoy with my kids. Best of luck to you also. I am looking forward for tuesday. I didn't get a time yet, they should call tomorrow with that information.

I am in New Jersey and I started this journey in March, I had to do the 6 month nutritionist and then I got denied, we appealed it and the insurance company finally approved it. I only have to do one day liquid diet. I am looking so forward to tuesday. Finally.

I am going to be banded on Dec 16th. I am so excited, its finally here.

I also have Cigna, they denied me, but I appealed and I just got approved on thursday after waiting almost 30 business days. My surgery is scheduled 12/12, finally. I have no other issues other than the BMI, its worth a shot Good luck

I just received a letter from Cigna saying that they cant substantiate medical necessity for the lap band. It says that I need to send my clinicals to the insurance company for review. I now dont know what to do, I have no co-morbitualities or anything, and no I have had no tests, so I dont know what they are looking for. the last thing I had was an echo-cardiogram about 2 years ago. Any ideas???

Thank you for the replys, I did everything so far required of me, from the 6 month nutritionist, to all of the tests and the letter of medical necessity, I will give them a call on tuesday to see what they want, I was also thinking they want my records, so hopefully my doctor will fax them over and I can move one more step forward to approval. thank you again.

Thanks for posting this. I just finished the six months nutritionist and my PCP is just now writing the letter. I was worried because we can only find 4 years of me going to them, now I feel a little better with the 24month revision. Hopefully the letter will be faxed to the surgeon tomorrow and I can move forward with this.

Hi everyone, I have been reading this site for awhile and thought that it was time to sign up. I am in the middle of my 6 month nutritional counceling I only have july and august to go.
