What are you looking forward to ?
alf17 replied to lizonaplane's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am so looking forward to being able to sit comfortably and not live in fear that the chair is going to give out from under me. My BIL had RNY almost 3 years ago and lost 240 lbs. He broke many chairs in his heavy days, but he no longer has that fear and doesn't have to carry around his own chair anymore. -

I am so glad this thread exists! I was starting to feel a little discouraged seeing so many start out in the 200's when I am starting out in the 400's. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for all of them and their journeys, but I would really like to connect with women who are more like me. -

Waiting period question
alf17 replied to alilovesib's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in Wisconsin and in badgercare as well. I believe you have to be in a weight management program for at least 6 months. Where in Wisconsin are you from/ where would you go for surgery? I started the process through SSM Health Weight Management in November and will be having my surgery August 20. Sent from my SM-G770U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -
I am having RNY, which was what I was planning all along. I did have some second thoughts after seeing so many people have such great success with VSG. After talking with the surgeon, we decided on RNY. Sent from my SM-G770U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Help! What needs to be accomplished in 6 month pre-op plan?
alf17 replied to timmytommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance required 6 months in a medical weight loss program. I met with the PA and dietician alternating months. I had to have the psych eval and some bloodwork and when the PA felt I was ready I met with the surgeon. I actually met with the surgeon last week Thursday, they sent everything to the insurance for approval, I got an approval letter in the mail on Monday and scheduled my surgery on Tuesday. The whole process was actually pretty easy and seemed to go really fast! -
My surgery is scheduled for August 20th!
