    Just a quick question

Yes you do...just left click your name once. That works on any name, by the way...

    Just a quick question

Hmmm...it emails me any time someone responds to a post I've responded to (or to a thread I started)...I must've signed up for that but don't remember doing it. HOWEVER... I think if you mouse over your name it should give you the option to see all your posts. I don't think you have to click on your name...but that will work too.

I'm at the end of my rope

You have to go to tickerfactory.com and update it !

    first fill 2morrow

Good luck and all kidding aside, let us know, ok? I get my 1st on 10/9 and I'm VERY excited even though I figure I won't feel different. At least it's progress! :cursing:

I would ask too if you've taken your measurements. Often when you are stiking to a plan (as you are)and not losing pounds, you lose inches. Bodies are odd. Are clothes looser? have you measured?

I'm at the end of my rope

That's just at 1 pound a week...on the low end of the 1-2 average. Do you retain water? Are you sore after your workouts? Are your feet and legs puffy at the end of the day? All that could impact your loss.

Are you eating like we're told too...mostly protein, a little veggie, not much else? If so, do what your doc says and get some restriction. There's more to it that just satiety ... your stomach cues hormones etc. If your surgeon thinks that's what you need, he is likely right. Can't hurt to try, can it? At the least you won't have to deal with hunger!

    Anyone older than me?

Then you are doing great! Congrats for taking care of you!

    I think overdid it

Mine came with my ticker. I don't recalculate it... I think you have to start with your start weight ....

    I think overdid it

Elisa you're lucky your doc lets you eat such a wide variety of food just over 2 weeks post op!
  11. You know, I think I'm luckier than I realize that I had this surgery when I did. Apparently my liver is fatty but I don't have an enlarged spleen or any other issues....YET! I'm sure I would've if I'd gone on. Your posts have made me feel like I dodged a bullet and give me even MORE reason to work with the band to be healthy!

    Anyone older than me?

I wish you all the luck in the world! My husband and I had decided we would pay for mine when I found out literally days before the seminar that indeed my insurance had started covering lap band Jan 1 of this year (never mind that I had called twice, once in Jan and once in April and was told NO WAY do we cover that...sigh) But it's less than the cost of a midsize car...and I'm surely worth as much as a Kia! You are, too!

Then I can't imagine. You should maybe ask your doc for guidance. Since I don't know how tall you are etc I can't guess if that is TOO much food, but I doubt it. Do you have diabetes or hypothyroid? If not, you should be losing and you need professional guidance to figure out why you aren't! Good Luck!

Are you eating ENOUGH? that can slow weight loss almost as much as eating too much.

    Anyone older than me?

Thanks Sooverit! And good luck on your 3rd appeal! Darn Cigna I hope they give up and do the right thing by you this time!
  16. You have a great attitude (so many whine about the required 6-month diet...I don't blame them, but whining doesn't help much! LOL...of course easy for me to say I guess since I didn't have to do it) anyway you have a great attitude and I'm sure the band will be a wonderful tool for you, should you decide to get it!
  17. I think it's common with either band to not feel "restriction" (and that wonder, satiety) until you've had several fills. I have the AP lap band but can't imagine fills work differently. Aggressive fills cause or contribute to esophageal spasms and forced band removal, so you just need to be patient! Good luck!

    first fill 2morrow

Apparently she's on a "restricted' plan ROFLMAO
  19. RestlessMonkey

    Anyone older than me?

I'm not older but I am 53. I am way heavier than you; I'm shocked they will even do the surgery if you "only" have a BMI of 33. As to bouncing back...well, I did "better" than most posts I've read. I slept in my own bed the first night (and no it's not one that launches you out of it LOL) I slept on my side the first night, on my belly the second. I drank Water fine from the moment they gave it to me. I never needed a pain med and in fact took only 1/2 of the morphine they wanted to give me post op. I felt great and was on here posting that evening. I have not had one minutes nausea or vomitiing. Per my doc you "PB" if you don't chew well, eat too fast, have too much restriction, or eat one of the foods that don't agree with you. I plan on every food agreeing with me, just WAY less. He said that's a great attitude. Some people want so much restriction they can barely eat. That path is not the one I want. So I'm 53 but I'm not at all old. I guess it's just how you look at things! I'll be old later when I have time.

    I think overdid it

Then you're fine. Use the straw test if in doubt!
  21. RestlessMonkey

    New

Welcome! I was banded on 8/29 and my first fill is 10/9 so apparently my doc is a little more conservative than yours! Let us know how it goes! I can hardly wait to move forward!
  22. Good luck Kathleen. I could always lose on a diet...that was never my problem. I just couldn't keep it off. I'd get hungry and eventually that hunger won. Then I'd get disheartened when I went up a pound or two or three....and eat because I felt doomed. I couldn't face a lifetime of hunger just to be "thin". So while your surgeon is right to a point...(surgery should never be your first choice or option!) ....hang in there if you find it hard. If you don't, good for you! I wish you every success, whichever works for you!
  23. RestlessMonkey

    I think overdid it

You won't know. I'm shocked you are already on "full liquids"...I wasn on thin liquids for a week (no Protein even) but if your doc says you can have it and you thinned it per directions, you should be ok. Could you drink it through a straw? If so, you were good. And honestly it should have just poured on through...you don't have any restriction yet. PB means "Productive burp" and it's when you get a mouthful of food stuck and it comes back up.
  24. RestlessMonkey

    first fill 2morrow

I KNOW you've been hungry...I just didn't really realize HOW hungry! LOL Anyway...no the first fill won't help much, most likely, unless your surgeon is really aggressive (and that isn't a good thing) but you're on your way! Be patient a little longer. And keep that phone away from your teeth! LOL
  25. Thank you for your kind words! I appreciate them; I try to answer any time I think i maybe can help! This is such a big step for most of us! Anyway...the AP band is the "new" generation of the old Lap Band (as opposed to the Realize Band which is a different brand name/type/etc) AP means "Advanced Platform"...it comes in Large (holds 14 CC's) and Small (holds 10 CC's) and is modified in shape from the original band. One benefit is the doc can kind of customize it to the patient and with the AP style...you are not as prone to swelling etc post op. It's the "new" old lap band and I'm fairly sure anyone who gets a lap band now gets the AP version. I got the AP large and I'm really glad...the 14 cc's will give me LOTS of adjustment options! And I know what you mean about needles and IV's. I hate them and I'm a nursing student. Let me tell you it's much easier to GIVE a shot than to GET a shot LOL But I made it through and I know you will too. I just look away and think happy thoughts (like how great I'll feel when I am below 300 pounds, how great it will be to get rid of my big clothes FOR GOOD, etc) and it goes fast!
