Do you talk on another site? I would like to meet sometime with the group. Where can I find info on that? Thank you.

I am almost 17 weeks post op and have lost about 40lbs. I started losing my hair a few weeks ago. I have heard that it wasn't that uncommon for this to happen. So a couple of weeks ago I saw my dr. for my first fill and mentioned the hair loss. He said it should not happen with this surgery because there is no malabsorption issue. I said, Ok, maybe it is my hormones because similar hair loss happened 3 months out from birth of both my DD's too (although getting worse now). He suggested Biotin. I looked it up and frankly don't know if that would work for me. My nails are harder and stronger than they have ever been... so I am back to the hormone issue. I have been diagonsed with PCOS in the past as well... so maybe that makes it worse. Would love to hear from anyone else in similar situation and what you did. Thank you!

Is there any doctor's there that are familiar with the band? I am living in NC and am considering moving to NL. I am from there originally, although I have no idea what it is like to live there as an adult (LOL! Moved from my parents house to here!) and am concerned about care of my band. From what I can tell, healthcare is very minimal there, I am super spoiled by the awesome healthcare here.... My family is in NL and I have heard horror stories about lack of care there (for regular health issues). I am wondering if living there with my band would be a good idea.... Thanks for any input!

I am 1.5 weeks post op (be 2 on Thursday) and today I am trying to tidy up all my kids toys and stuff. When I bend over and stand back up I get very light headed and almost weak knee'd feeling... Is this normal? Overdoing it? Something I should be concerned about? I seem to recall my husband being dehydrated once and feeling similar, I am worried about that... does anyone know if that is a symtom? Thanks!!

Hey Denika! I know how you feel! I am one week one day post op and saw Dr. Bauman yesterday! This liquid diet is making me crazy!! I can't believe HOW HUNGRY I am!!! I didn't expect to want to eat as much as I do. I am ok during most of the day, but getting groceries, or watching TV makes me starving. Nevermind the delicious suppers my hubby cooks for the rest of the family!

I am just curious what most of you use to track your intake, exercise, etc... I would like to do it on the computer and be able to just print it out... anything out there people are using? Thanks!

I wonder why my Dr. has me do pure liquids for two weeks and others don't. Or more to the fact, why there is such a discrepancy in how and when Dr.'s let us eat certain foods?? I know once I started to eat an ounce or two of yogurt at a time I was feeling a lot less sick and less dizzy... I guess my plan now is to do Isopure for protein and them maybe water down a little yogurt with milk or something... for the rest.

I thought it was ok too, but apparently when I called the nutritionist associated with his practice, I wasn't allowed to have anything remotely thick... She was really pushing that yogurt was way too thick... Oh, well... Only another week and two days until full liquids!!

I have been very hungry since my surgery Thursday past. Yesterday the nutritionist called me to see how I was doing. I told her I was doing mainly Isopure because I didn't like the Unjury powders. They make me sick. She said that the Isopure was fine for protein but to have some other calories too, like broth and such. So, I ate a Dannon Fit and Light Yogurt (in 3 separate servings). My dr. told me when I released I could have anything that goes through a straw. So I though yogurt would be fine... I called today to ask about it to make sure, because I had read last night that yogurt was a NoNo. And sure enough, she told me it would make me sick and stretch my pouch. Well, I told her I made one of the recipies in the booklet they gave me that had fat free, sugar free ice cream in it and was kind of thick so I thought yogurt would be fine.... She was very adamant that I can't have anything thick at all, very very think liquids only.... Protein drinks are the thickest I can go. Did I damage myself? The (thicker) protein shake I made on Sunday actually made me really uncomfortable for all that day and the next... Did I ruin my pouch? Now I am really scared that because I was eating thicker things for two days I have ruined it!! I thought yogurt would go through a straw.... Should I call my dr.? I have had this tightness in my chest since then.... But I thought it was probably my port area. Please HELP!!!

Hi! I had my surgery last Thursday and I am super hungry. I totally admit I am not getting all my protein... I did ok the first few days but the UNJURY protien powder is making me feel gross now. I guess so much of it... I can't stand the taste. I have mixed unflavored with things, shakes with ice cream, yogurt, etc... Plain milk and chocolate flavored and I would rather not eat than eat them and feel sick... I am drinking the ISPORE pretty good. I get about 40g protein a day from that, but that isn't enough calories and doesn't stay in my pouch long. Plus, I tried a sample of NECTAR yesterday and it was awesome! The sucky part is that it won't be here for another week! I just ordered it last night! So, if I can get all my protein in by drinking Isopure, what would be some other ways to get some healthy calories. My dr.'s only restrictions is it has to go through a straw. I don't actually use a straw, but you know what I mean! Thanks! I can't believe how much I miss food!!! Is it like this for most people??

Thank you everyone! I am going to call my dr. in the morning to check as well. I didn't feel as bad the first few days after surgery as I do today. I have a lot of 'gas??' pains today, plus I have had several large coughing fits and it super hurts the port area! I just took some liquid cough medicine, so I hope it doesn't happen again. I can't believe I am feeling worse today than the first couple of days.... Thanks!

Yeah, I just checked through my meds... the patch did say may cause blurry vision. I will call Dr. on Monday to see how long he wants me to wear one! Thanks!!

Hi! I just had surgery Thursday and I am having trouble with seeing things close up. I can't even read the labels on items, everything is a blur. I can see far away things fairly well... Is this common? I am wearing a patch behind my ear for nausea, I wonder if that or my pain meds or something is causing the blurriness? BTW - I didn't think I would be sooooo hungry this quickly!! Walking through a grocery store is wicked!! I want to eat everything. Not even sure if it is true hunger or just a 'need to eat'!! Thanks!!
