You can call me TG or April if you want, no problem. I found a seat that looks pretty interesting called SpiderFlex, it looks like it would work for me since it is my tail bone that is having the pain...only downfall is that it is $110..yikes. I am sure I will stop being el cheapo the more my bum hurts..lol I see a lot of people are taking classes, I'm a career student here...my husband has asked that I take a break after this degree.. What is everyone studying?? I have been a nurse for 3 years and now I am going back for a bachelors degree in nursing. As much as I complain about school when I am in it, I miss it when I am not.. You all have accomplished so much with your weight and fitness goals! I am very excited and happy for you, it shows me that it can be done and you all are wonderful role models for me!! I can't wait until I get closer to reaching my "big" goal. I set several mini goals so I don't get disappointed. Now I am waiting for the rain to pass so I can go for my ride! Take care everyone!

Hi Kiki You are doing wonderful! That is one of the advantages of having the band, we can indulge on special occasions but it will not let us over do it like we use to and got us in the situation we were in before we had our band! I decided to start bike riding this week for exercise, my tailbone is paying the price, I need to get about 10 gel seats and stack them on top of one another! I also ordered that Zumba workout, hopefully that will help me on the rainy days.

Thanks for the welcome Hoosier! Well I got 1 lap in around the neighborhood..its a little over 2 miles, that was all we had time for since there was a big storm moving in. It has been about 2 years since I rode my bike, I missed it but I will tell you that my bum didn't miss it. I think I need to get a wide seat....I have a gel cushion on there but that doesn't make it anymore comfy for me. I will ride again tomorrow and try to get another lap around the neighborhood in...my legs were burning half way through the ride tonight! Well, off to bed I go, 0430 comes early for me...blah Monday...blah

Hi everyone! I am sort of new with having my band, I am a couple of months out now and really need to pick up my working out. I use to ride a few years ago, I never accomplished nearly as much ground as you all cover in one ride though. I decided I would take riding up again, I am going to start out slow until my bum can get use to the seat again. Just go around the neighborhood for a few days. I have been wanting to start this for the last 2 weeks but there has always been something holding me up...mostly rain, morning, afternoon and night... gotta love a Florida summer! So, I am starting today! You all seem to be a great support for each other! I hope you don't mind if join your group, I could really use the support!

Congrats on the restriction!! I know every doctor is different, after a fill my doctor has be do 2 days of clear liquids and then 2 days of full liquids before I attempt any real food again...I am noticing a lot of people go back to eating once they have a fill. Does your doctor have any special instructions like that? Do you fly back down to Mexico for your fills or use a fill center in your area? I had a problem with "sliming" and PB's last week, both times happened with my breakfast meal, which is usually several hours after I wake up and have had a protein shake and they both involved some form of eggs which is really strange since I had been eating hard boiled eggs and omelets for the last 2 weeks with no problems. I do not like that feeling...blah:crying:

I have an evil vacation planned for October! My husband, myself and a group of friends are all going to Jamaica for 6 days at an all inclusive resort! Talk about evil, all you can eat free food and free liquor...yikes. I have a mini goal set to have lost 50 pounds by the time we go....we have 64 days so hopefully if I pick up my work out and keep an eye on my nutrition I will meet that goal! How is your vacation recovery going??

Did another thread start somewhere else?? This one has just come to a complete stop...:cursing:
-
OKay...now I have been eating at least 1 boiled egg a day... no problems... all the sudden today....I had a problem......a PB and now I am on clear liquids for the next meal..ugh

Denise~ I am glad you went for him too then, sometimes special people are worth an extra week of battling the scale! I wouldn't miss my nephews birthday either! Angel~Congrats on your wonderful weight loss!! I am in Pasco County.....in the Land O' Lakes/Odessa area! Nice to see someone from Florida!! Keep up the good work and we will try not to think of all of the yummies that got us where we are fighting to get away from

Well.....I dont understand this one.. but I have had at least 1 hard boiled egg everyday for the last couple of weeks and all the sudden, today, it doesn't agree with me. It sat funny until I finally had a PB. So it was clear liquids for lunch. Mmmmmmmm....birthday cake, I will probably gain a pound just because I thought of it sinfully hahaha

Todays menu Breakfast: 1 hard boiled egg 2 slices of turkey bacon Snack : 1 oz of almonds (surprisingly, very filling) Lunch: Salad with grilled chicken Snack: 1 oz almonds Dinner: Enchilada bake (tasted better the second day) I modified the Enchilada bake recipe with fat free items, it still turned out pretty well, my husband ate it, so that has to be a good sign! Hope everyone is having a good week!!

Hi, I work for about 15 GI doctors. They say to avoid any laxative that has senna in it.... I have seen what it does to the colon (turns it black). Miralax is an osmotic laxative that pulls water into your stool and they say it is safe to use daily, however it can be expensive. I use that in my protein shake every day also, and I have had no problem since. It is still extremely important for you to get your fiber, that is a big key to a healthy colon. However, if you are using a fiber supplement make sure you drink plenty of water, it adds bulk to your stool and if you use to much of it you will remain constipated. Hope this helps a little!

Where do you find the Fage yogurt?? I have heard people mention it in the past but have not been able to find it!
-
I forgot to mention it was chocolate flavor. I am sure you can add whatever you thing will taste yummy too it. I am not sure if it comes in different flavors or not, I am a chocolate lover so it gives me my taste of it!

I use a Protein shake powder that I get from walmart, its called "Body Fortress Super Advanced whey Protein" Its only 100 calories for 1 scoop and gives an extra 26 grams of protein with only 3 grams of carbs....it also has a lot of other fun stuff we need! I typically mix it with 1/2 cup of skim milk and 1/2 cup of Water (so I dont add to many carbs or calories) I have to wake up at 0430 am for work so I usually make it the night before in a shaker drink container so I can just grab it on my way out the door. I do find I like it better when it sits pre-made over night rather than when I make it and drink it right away. (I think it has time to dissolve better and doesn't taste gritty) It is pretty inexpensive too...$13 and it lasts about a month!

Thanks Denise!! I went back through the zillion pages of this thread and found the recipe! I also found a link that Holly posted with some low carb recipes! Thanks Holly, those all look yummy but I may attempt to make the recipes with less fattening items. Hopefully it will taste just as yummy as theirs looks! Mamato, don't get discouraged! It will come back off! You look wonderfully beautiful in your new picture you posted! I am trying to keep my carbs under 40, so far so good, I still have my one sinful thing a day with a sugar free jello pudding!
-
I can eat boiled eggs!!!!! I am still afraid to try the scrambled again though. So far just the one fill of 3.2 cc.
-
Hi everyone, well this was my first week on the low carb and high protein diet, (4th day in) I have been keeping my carbs under 40, I know it's not as low as some people keep it but I figured I would ease into it. It is a lot better than what I was doing! I have lost 3 pounds so far, and on my ketone sticks it only shows that I have a trace amount. How long does it take to see the level increase? I have been living on hard boiled eggs, canadian bacon, turkey bacon, chicken, boca burgers, salad, green beans and my one sin I allow myself, crunchy peanutbutter! (I came into this world with this craving). If anyone has meal idea's let me know! I am going to attempt to add some seafood this week, I am not a big fish person but I love shrimp and crab legs and lobster (can get pricey though). I hope everyone has a groovy weekend@@!!!!!!!

Hey Sandy I am so excited that you are getting closer to your surgery date!!! Good job on the 5 pounds down!! I need to try to start working out more this month. That is one of my mini goals! I was on a role but my nickname in my family is "Grace" for a good reason! I was cleaning the pool and stepped down wrong last month and fractured my foot, it is finally starting to feel better so I am planning on getting back on track with exercise! Keep me updated! When do you plan on flying out?? I will keep you in my thoughts! April

Hi Skinny, Thanks for the support, I went in for what I thought was going to be my second adjustment, but the dr was happy that I had lost 6 pounds this month and didnt think I needed any more restriction, he said that I could expect to plateau now and again and my body would catch up with it. He said they expect to see 5-8 pounds a month, and I knew that going into getting the band, I think just in the back of my head I was hoping for bigger numbers! Oh well, I will keep on trucking, pick up on my work outs and see if that makes a difference! How has everyone been doing on here!! doesn't look like to many people are talking???!!!!???!! Have a wonderful week everyone!!
-
HI everyone! Well I went back for what I thought was going to be my second "fill", but he said that since I lost 6 pounds this month that he didn't want to adjust my band anymore He said an average that they want to see is between 4-8 pounds a month, which I knew that going in and I am super happy that the 6 pounds are gone forever now, but at the same time I wanted to see bigger numbers and felt maybe I could use a little more restriction. I see him again in 4 weeks so I guess we will see. So.... I guess I am not waiting until the end of the week to start my low carbing! BTW, Kami~ I think I may have read a post that you were questioning about why some of us are low carbing, the way my surgeons group explained for us to eat was that we are to have a protein a veggie and a fruit on our plate. Eating the protein first then veggie then fruit, hoping that the protein will fill us up faster and keep us full longer rather than eating the carbs. I dont know if that helps...but thats what he reminded me of again today. mamato~ congrats on the weight loss! I can't wait to be in onderland!! Well, I guess on a positive note, that after a 3 week plateau, I finally lost a pound on Saturday!!! So I will see how I do with this coming month attempting the low carbing! Have a wonderful week everyone!! :tt2::tt1::eek::w00t:

Hi everyone! I was banded on May 13, 2008. I had my first fill on June 23 and after the first week with the fill the scale stopped moving. I am due for my second one on Monday July 21. I also suffer from PCOS, I was diagnosed 17 years ago when I was 15, so I have all of the classic attributes from it! Diabetes, high blood pressure, irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, and weight gain. I have never tried a high protein, low carb diet aka Atkins plan, so I may need some advise from some experienced people! I plan on starting next week after I get my fill. My doctor has me do 2 days of clear liquids and then 2 days of full liquids/soft foods before advancing back to regular diet. After my last fill I attempted scrambled eggs and that did not set well with me at all, I took 2 bites and I was running to the bathroom, I have been scared to try them since. Can someone please explain how to calculate a net carb? Thanks in advance for all of your help!!!!!
-
Hi everyone, Im starting to get upset here, It has been a few weeks since I have seen the scale move, I dont understand how I can be eating between 800-1000 calories which are all healthy choices and I am not loosing any weight. I go for my second adjustment on Monday, I would just like to see the number go down some. Sorry for venting.
