Dumping is totally random but as a rule of thumb I try to avoid foods with more than 10-12 grams of added sugar. It's worked so far! If the portion was really small there mightve not been enough sugar or fat to trigger it. Like for example, I can take a small bite of something sugary and be fine. I've only dumped once after eating French fries and some bread with honey butter..it was likely due to all the fat I was consuming and the sweet butter put me over the edge. Terrible experience because I have an hour and a half card ride after with some friends and had to pretend I wasn't about to die LOL I'd say you're lucky, don't push it or you can I guess if you want to learn your limits although I truly feel it's random and it's best to avoid large quantities of sugar and fats. But im a believer in occasional treats so don't deprive yourself! Glad you could enjoy it. My doctor always says "what worked today, might not work tomorrow. Proceed with caution" Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

4 months out and stalled all month!
fourmonthspreop replied to DonnaGS's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I seem to be in a cycle of losing and gaining the same 3 lbs. I keep going in between 250 and 248. I am also about 4 months post op. Is a 4 month stall normal? I thought I broke 250 but it goes in between those 3 numbers probably for 3 weeks now I think or more idk... I'm going to be honest I'm not meeting my protein goals or hydration goals. Trying very hard with water but protein I am.not getting enough. I am still in a major calorie deficit and started vigorous exercise recently. I'm frustrated but all I can do is stay off the scale, stay in my deficit and keep working to reach my protein and water goal. Uhh but it is the most frustrating thing ever. I want to get to 200 so badly. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Compression garments for loose skin
fourmonthspreop posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi! I'm in the market for some compression pieces, specifically for my lower stomach. I have a hanging apron belly and while everything else is slimming out, I still deal with some serious lower stomach protrusion through tight jeans or even loose pants. It looks fine from the front but from the side, there's like a mound on my lower abdomen, it's so upsetting 😠 My stomach is getting droopy like a deflated beach ball. I have some compression underwear that work well on cleaning up the lines a bit but I'm wondering if there are any compression garments for your lower stomach that really gets rid of that FUPA look if you know what I mean, seriously flattens things out, not just holds everything in place. If so, send me links, store names, suggestions, anything! Thanks! -
Watching videos of people eating
fourmonthspreop replied to doobie31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Omg im the same way! I love everything about food but I no longer love eating it the MOST. I love feeding people and giving gifts. I take pictures of everything and only go after fine and rare ingredients. It's an expensive hobby [emoji28] Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Super happy but a bit confused
fourmonthspreop replied to Tami10's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yeah it was tight! But the clothing thing is such a mind freak honestly. I am still wearing some of my old size 20 jeans but I also can buy jeans in non plus sizes too. Like I bought a regular 16 at h and m. I bpught a size 34 pair of jeans at buckle thinking itd be sooo tight and something to shrink into, but no it fits well. I don't understand it at all. I think part of it is loose skin. Like loose skin fits in bigger clothes but it can also be completely squished down in smaller sized clothing. I don't know. Women's sizing is not the best way to indicate weight loss although I've loved getting rid of all my tent sized shirts and baggy jeans. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
fourmonthspreop replied to bestbudsoreosandmilk's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Haha yeah. I watched too much of my 600 lb life prior and was just expecting a weight loss goal XD but yeah, I was in counseling prior but definitely wanted me to put the pedal to the metal on my mental health and get a whole treatment team on board. I'm glad I did. It really helped. I think if your surgeon cares about you and you have a mental health diagnosis like bpd or bipolar you'll just need to show you're putting some work in to achieve some stability and learn appropriate coping mechanisms. I'm 4 months and some post op from gastric bypass. I average about 950 calories a day although some days I can barely reach 700 and others I can have 1200. It just depends on my restriction. I always aim for 60-80 grams of protein but im happy if I can get 60 in a day. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD)
fourmonthspreop replied to bestbudsoreosandmilk's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yeah, it depends on your insurance probably and the program but in my experience most programs just want to see that you're stable. I have bipolar disorder and when I went in for my initial consultation I was shocked the doctor did not give me a weight loss goal. He instead wanted me to go through 4 months of counseling with a psychologist and stay consistent on my mood stabilizers, then pass a Psych eval. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Watching videos of people eating
fourmonthspreop replied to doobie31's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Lolol I watched mukbangs through my 2 week post op liquid phase. I missed food so much at that point it was the only thing keeping me going. It never made me want to eat, I know some people have that issue with eating videos but yeah I was basically on liquids for 4 weeks pre and post op.... and watching videos of people eating made me feel better like I was connected to food again in some way. Being human and not eating is such a weird mental thing (beyond the physical sensations) Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Cake, ice cream, pizza…farewell forever?
fourmonthspreop replied to Rockmantic78's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My dietician also told me I could eat a tiny piece of cake when it was my birthday in march. I was only 2 months post op by that point. I didn't because i was too scared to eat real cake, I made a sugar free almond flour cake instead. but just an example you can live a realistic healthy life after surgery and enjoy treats in moderation on special occasions. There are also a lot of great and healthier substitutes for your favorites. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Cake, ice cream, pizza…farewell forever?
fourmonthspreop replied to Rockmantic78's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
This is true. I'm 4 months post of from bypass. I dumped once after eating honey butter and some french fries...Sugar and fat put me in double jeopardy lol I avoid sugar like the plague because I don't want to dump. I can still eat pizza though in moderation. I don't eat it often but my dietician says as long as I'm getting in my protein, and staying in a calorie deficit, eat pizza! Before and After Pics
fourmonthspreop replied to Roserie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Broke my stall and hit 91 lb weight loss today! So close to the 100 club! Now wearing a womans XL top (was 3/4x prior and 22 pants). I actually bought my first pair of size 34 jeans last week. Still don't believe it. The pic in the black shirt was a couple weeks pre op, I was prob about 315 lbs there...249 today. Had my bypass in February so there's still a bit left to lose but I'm finally feeling energetic and happy. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Working out after surgery
fourmonthspreop replied to Muffinman1119's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I recently started heavy cardio and I had my surgery in February. Before I was just walking and doing low impact workout videos. I waited to exercise because i was so anemic after surgery, walking was a pain. But everyone is different. My doc says typically around month 3 when you start being able to eat more foods, youll find you have the capacity to start going out and really move your body. I started running last week and its definitely different. I feel like I have less stamina from the long break I took from running and I burp A LOT while I'm running from sucking in air lol. My knees hurt a lot less though so I know if I just stick with it, I'll get the cardio conditioning I want. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Blah...my first stall...
fourmonthspreop replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel this rn. I've been stuck in between 250 and 252 for like 2 weeks now and it's so annoying. I started running to see if that helps since I wasn't getting much exercise in before. Thats also a fun experience as a bariatric patient...actually losing weight on vacay and having just as much, if not more fun that you would've consuming a bunch of stuff and gaining weight like in the pre op days haha Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Anyone try these shakes? They're a bit more caloric than the ones I usually drink (230 vs. 170) but I recently tried their 26 gram protein shakes and realllyyy liked them because they just taste like normal flavored milk. I want to try the 42-gram protein one. There are 8 grams of sugar in each shake which is approved by my dietician. I just don't want to buy a whole case and hate it. Does it taste like milk or have that weird, gross, artificially sweet, protein taste?

Going on my first post op date. I haven't dated in 2 years. I am already picturing all the weird things I have to do around food with him. He offered to cook me a pasta dinner and I had to say no LOL so we're going to a smoothie place instead. I looked up the menu and they have unsweetened tea and coffees so I'll be fine but omg how does one explain it? Anyway, wish me luck! And feel free to share your post op date stories too Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app

First post op date
fourmonthspreop replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I've avoided eating dates so far. I don't know why but I'm so embarrassed because I also don't want to look like ohhh she's just being modest or is awkward about eating but I also really don't want to tell people about my surgery yet. Rock and a hard place I guess. I might just pretend I didn't like the food that much if I go on an eating date. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
fourmonthspreop replied to chiquitatummy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I know this is a common one but im particularly excited about it because I distinctly remember being 340 lbs and watching these "progress" videos of other women with towels wrapped around their body, showing how they gradually start fitting into bath towels as they lose weight and I remember feeling so sad and discouraged...like I didn't have it in me to get there too. I'm traveling and in a hotel right now and to my surprise this is the first time a regular "hotel" towel has wrapped all the way around my body without a humongous gap exposing my side and stomach. I am so happy about this I can't even explain it. It just confirms it for me that I can have the things I want, that I deserve them too and am just as strong to fight for them. Photo: the first picture is from just a week preop, the second is from today. Yes...I had to censor my booty cheek lol that whole blue part is the towel that didn't close and that towel is bigger than this one I have here. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Thats true, its so specific. He mentioned he hates really fatty foods and exclusively eats protein and greens mainly. I was like you and I are going to get along fine haha. You never know tok. Once you're comfortable, it can be exciting to go on a date. Especially if you let your weight hold you back in the past. It's weird having a crush on someone again but it feels good. I'm also not hyper self conscious about my size. I feel good too. Sent from my SM-G975U using BariatricPal mobile app
