About Me
I live in a small town in Louisiana. I doubt it is on any map. I have two sons. When they grew up --I went through a deep depression. "What am I supposed to do now?" I thought. "I am a nothing and no one needs me." For 18 years the wonderful most fulfilling job ever, was my life and I loved it! Now, it was all over. They grew up.
At the age of 42 I was able to live out a life-long dream and began working in the mission field in a small village of Mayans in Belize called Red Bank. It's where birders go to see the Scarlet Macaws. That same year, I enrolled in college. I earned an MEd and now I teach full time at a Title 1 school not far from where I live.
I read voraciously so if anyone wants to talk on the side about good books --I'm with you. I have also been sewing since since I was about 11 years old. I love to make quilts and clothing.
Our home was destroyed in the hurricane last year. We had to live in an RV for about 7 months --just recently our home was repaired enough to move back in.
As far back as I can remember I have always felt fat --even when I wasn't. I have been on every diet known to man.....so has my mom and grandma. As a very young girl I can remember all the grown-up talking about weight and diet. I finally decided to use what we call my "teacher money" and just be done with it once and for all. My mother has had knee replacement surgery. A five foot skeleton shouldn't be carrying this much weight. All my aunts and my grandma are overweight. I could see the path being laid for me and I want a different one.
