  1. Thank you for this. There’s so much information on calories! It’s like I’m going to have to experiment to find out what makes me lose more sigh. What you said makes perfect sense especially the end about either losing 60% or 100%
  2. Thank you for your detailed response! So…I lost about 9 pounds during the 2 week pre-op diet. So at my surgery date, that put me at 241…then now, 6/7 weeks later I’m at 220, so it wasn’t 30 pounds after surgery, but 20. I will say that now being 6/7 weeks out (surgery was on 7/15) that I’m hungrier. My doctor totally said that 5-600 calories was too low and that “could be” why I was stalled or not losing. I know this will work when I find what my body wants. I am hungry enough to eat the 800-1,000 calories a day, I just question if I should. I need to lose 70+ more pounds. I appreciate your feedback!
  3. Where are you in the process? Is the calorie amount and you’re working out too helping with your losses? Thanks!
  4. Thank you for the reply. This is all so scary yet exciting at the same time. From what I have read in these forums, a lot of people aren’t even up to 1000 calories this early out so I was afraid to increase. I think the key is like you said, upping calories and burning more. That’s been a missing element for me.

    Water question

Thanks! Yes, I can’t guzzle a whole bottle but I can get maybe 4 ounces in before it feels uncomfortable. Perhaps I should ease up. Some days I’m averaging 40 oz other days 64. I noticed the amount depends on what time in the morning I get up and plan my meals around not eating and drinking within 30 min of eachother. I would like to increase my intake.
  6. Hi All, I’m officially two weeks post op and have moved to soft foods. I carefully measured one half cup or 3 oz etc, but cannot finish certain things. My question is, during the 30-40 minutes of trying to eat, do you just stop or do you go back throughout the day to try and finish? Or do you just toss it and focus later on another meal hours later?
  7. I Hi All! I had surgery on July 15 so I’m just about a month out. I’m panicking because I started out at 250 before my 2 week preop diet. During my preop diet I lost 9 pounds. I went into surgery at 241 pounds. I’m now almost a month later 226 pounds. For the last week it’s been at 225 and today it jumped to 226.6. Last night I had about 600 calories…previously it’s been between 350-500. I decided to jump it up some to see if I could get over my stall and I gained!! Ugggggh…what am I doing wrong? I got this surgery to better my health and to lose weight of course and I feel Im on an up and down cycle again. Please help with advice. I figured adding more calories would help with weight loss…guess my body said nope! Feeling a little defeated!

That’s a great drop in weight! I think I’m constipated also which could be affecting my true weight. I’m anticipating a nice drop soon!
  9. I had my VSG a month ago and they also did a hernia repair (I was told) A month out, I am still having some slight pain on my left side. It’s not constant but it’s there. For instance, if I’m sleeping on my side, upon waking up and moving, I might feel it…or sitting for long periods, stretching, etc. The incisions are all healed. Is this normal? Should it be gone by now?

    Surgery Pain after a month

No, but the pain is right under the area on the left where I have an incision…the place where they pulled the remainder of the stomach out. Doc told me the day after surgery they stitched underneath because of the hernia, but I’m wondering why after a month it’s still slightly painful

    Surgery Pain after a month

Thanks. I will call in the morning to ask. Other than that concentrated area, there’s no pain elsewhere.

Thank you, you brought up an important point about looking at the downward trend of overall loss. I need to remember that!
  14. Following! I hope you feel better! I’m a little under a month post op and feel what you’re describing after eating to the point where I’m almost full or full already. I also feel it if I take too many gulps of water too fast. I’m not sure if this is a stricture or just the normal way we feel after eating or drinking a certain amount.

    It happened- I got canceled

I’m so sorry this has happened. I can feel your anguish in your words. I hope some how and some way you’re able to see this through. Hugs!

Thank you for your reply! Yes, since weight has been a focal point in my life, I’ve been weighing myself daily on every single plan I’ve ever done, from HCG, to Keto etc. I started my current journey many months ago when I was going through the 6 month approval process. I weigh myself each morning, naked…after using the bathroom and before consuming anything to eat or drink. I was completely baffled when it said 226.6 this morning when the last two days it has said a solid 225. Im going to have faith this is just for today lol! The only thing I changed is I added some more calories thinking that would help break the 225 stall. The only other thing that has changed is that for the last few days, I’ve went for 20-30 min walks.
  19. I’m 6 days post op and because we are supposed to refrain from sex for awhile, instead of waiting to do it traditionally with my husband…we just played around and I masturbated. Usually within a few minutes I can reach an orgasm, but IT DID NOT HAPPEN. We even tried two days in a row…NOTHING. I’m hoping it’s just because I’m still sore and my body is adjusting to coming off the pain meds and not eating as much etc. I’m still aroused, but cannot orgasm. Has anyone experienced this? I hope the feeling of not being hungry isn’t connected to not being able to orgasm.
  20. Supposedly about 3 weeks I believe I was told, but I could be wrong. Great luck to you tomorrow! I’m going on almost one month post op and I feel great!
  21. Thank you! I’m definitely learning as I go!
  22. Thank you for that input. Was a little stressed because I’m not meeting all my daily goals. This puts it into perspective.
  23. Ok, thanks for the replies! I’m trying to understand if it’s important to consume all of the calories of a particular meal or just don’t worry about it.
