    Gas, Gas and more Gas

jst back from a 4km walk (about 2 miles) and OMG I managed to burp for the first time since surgery! LOL! Not a real loud awful burp but a slow, steady, soft, long drawn-out burp, but I actually DID burp! My DH thinks it's hilarious that I'm so excited about it. A bit sore from the walk though. But on balance, I'm really glad I did it nonetheless!
  2. And I'm so happy it is! I'm more sore than I thought I would be, and I haven't felt like anything but Water and green tea but otherwise I'm happy. My port incision hurts the most. The worst thing? Feeling like I need to burp but not being able to! LOL! This is it, August All Stars, we're all on our way now!

    Anyone getting banded in AUGUST

I was banded on Friday, same as fee, on the 1st of August. :cool2:
  4. great to have you join us fee!
  5. Yep I start full liquids today. My Dr's instructions were clear liquids until I start feeling hunrgy (approx 5 days from date of surgery) then full liquids (and smooth mushies like yoghurt without fruit lumps) for a week then slowly introduce soft solids.
  6. I'm 4 days post op and am starting on smooth mushies as per my Dr's advice, so cream of mushroom Soups etc. I have been on Clear Liquids up until today, and have lost about 4lbs in the days since surgery. I agree about adding Protein, as it makes you feel fuller for longer. Also try and spread your meals out so you're eating a little bit every two hours or so. It seems to be working for me to get from point to point, and yes, I'm starting to get hungry too!
  7. Well, the gas, for me, is almost a thing of the past now. No discomfort at all. But I'm experiencing a little bit of hunger, which my surgeon told me to expect. He's got me on smooth mushies (yoghurt, creamy low-cal Soups etc) today to combat the hunger. I'm also walking to the shops today - about a 3 km round trip (about a mile and a bit?) to get some supplies for when I go back to work next week. How are you lovelies doing today? Claudine and Moe?
  8. Cool! I agree that weight is very subjective until you find restriction, but if we weigh in every Friday, at least we can be here to talk about how our week went and to encourage each other. Weight has been literally falling off me since I was banded, but I expect that with being on liquids only. I move to smooth mushies today according my Dr's schedule, so expect my weight loss to slow down substantially. The good thing is, I'm now aware of how food affects me, and so if we're meeting every Friday to discuss our week, we're going to support each other and keep each other on track! Okay, so Friday I'll start a new thread called "Friday Weigh In" and we can all check in in there. I'm the first one to be weighed, since I'm in an earlier timezone, so as soon as I've got my weight, I'll start the thread and wait for the rest of you to join me!

    Bodybugg

I got an email reply from them saying they do not provide tech support to Australian users at the moment, but I can still buy it if I wanted, I just won't have all the whiz bang support that the US users would have, but will still have to pay for. They also mention that it's wireless and therefore may contravene allowed radio frequencies in some countries (though they do later say that they have happy customers in Australia, so who knows?) So I'm less interested now. I think if it accurately measured calories burned, I could track the rest using Fitday or CalorieKing, but is it worth the money just for that one aspect?
  10. Lol cutie, needed to make sure my US peeps could keep track of the weight loss too. The days will pass in a blink of an eye. Can't wait to see you on the other side.

    Bodybugg

Hi Nat, just found this thread while I was trying to find info on how to get a bodybugg. I just emailed the company to ask if they have an Australian distributor. If not, I'm interested in knowing what sort of support they offer international purchasers. Seeing how the Aussies $ is pretty strong atm, it's a good time to buy I reckon. I would be happier if they had a point of sale here in Oz though, just for after sales support etc.

    Let's Get This Party Started!

fleminld, you should be okay, hun. My DH is caring for my 2yo and 14yo sons, cooking and cleaning up after them but I'm preparing my own liquids and just staying in bed a lot. If the gas gets too much I go for a walk around the garden, but I reckon I could easily look after myself without anyone else at home. Just keep checking in with us, matey, so we know you're doing okay.

    Time for the first pics

Congrats, what an amazing weight loss! Your pictures are an inspiration! I actually have tatts on my belly, and my surgeon told me he tried to avoid them when he put the port incision in. Then I reminded him that I was going to get PS eventually and he laughed and said he shouldn't have bothered being so careful!
  19. Well I had my lapband 'installed' on Friday the 1st of August and I admit to feeling really knocked about on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday my incisions were sore, like someone had kicked me in the stomache hard, then Sunday I had terrible gas pains. I walked but got tired easily, and actually found peppermint tea a great help with it. Today (Monday) I'm heaps better! My port incision still hurts a little, but most of the gas pains are gone, and I'm feeling really happy to have had the surgery (though I was cursing it the last two days! LOL!) I've also already lost 2.5lbs in those 3 days and am not feeling at all hungry. So yes it's a bit sore and painful for a week or so, which you'd expect from surgery, then it gets better and you're off and running with your new life!
  20. Moe I'm so glad to hear everything went so well for you. You deserve an easy run, because you've amazing support to many of us!
  21. I had a sore throat too, even lost my voice, but they asked me how I was feeling the day of surgery, and I said great!, which was true, so surgery went ahead. As long as you don't have a cold, or fever, you should be okay, I think. The only downside though is now everytime I need to cough, I have to hold onto my port incision or else coughing hurts!

    4 Aug 08 - South Australia

Cached, you must be at the hospital by now so my good wishes are probably a little late. I hope it all goes smoothly for you!
  23. Haha couldn't help myself. I did weigh myself after all! Date of surgery 92.9kgs (just over 204lbs) . Today 91.5kgs (just under 202lbs) !

Best Wishes to our 1st Band Buddies

I only just saw this! I can't believe we're all on our way now!
  25. Well I'm 3 days post op and the gas situation is dfinitely getting better. Yesterday was the worst, with my tummy cramping up from the gas that just wouldn't go anywhere. I walked a bit but got tired quickly, and eventually had some peppermint tea, which was a godsend, I tell you. (note to everyone - buy some peppermint tea!) We don't have Gas X here in Australia, which is a shame, but today already the gas is dissipating and I'm feeling better. I don't want to weigh myself yet either coz I'm quite swollen in the belly still, but I'm pretty sure I've shed some weight since the op. Even the pain around my port is better today. I'd say the first 2 days after the op were the worst, and it gets better from there. Hang in there guys, it'll all be worth it! Off to change my siggie now!
