Dr. Spiegel does not believe in pain meds after surgery. Please consider using Dr. Spivak instead. I referred my best friend to him and she was very pleased. AND he doesn't tell you that if you take ibuprofen after five incisions are in your abdomen, that you should feel little discomfort. PLEASE!!!!! It's not as if he's actually had the surgery. All he and that unorganized MESS of an office are is GREEDY. They take your $ and you are a number, that's it. And as for the supposed "group meetings", let me just tell you it's a joke. You wait forever till everybody gets together and then it's a bunch of whiners. The office staff (that unorganized bunch) are the ones who facilitate the meetings and this is all done while they are calling you in for fills. There is absolutely no support from any of them. And they all walk around like Dr. Spiegel is some kind of god or something. Really nuts how needy they are for a hero.

Asherje, I don't know if you have been banded yet, I was banded 08/11/08 by Dr. Felix Spiegel. Things could not have gone better. I was up and walking the same day (and you should to). The more you walk (within reason) the better the outcome. I was not concerned with bedside manner. I went for experience. There's nothing wrong with good bedside manner but I would go with experience first. Texas Pork -

Banded 08/11/08, could not have gone better . My thanks to Dr. Felix Spiegel. I was not concerned with bedside manner, I went with experience. I do have a question, It is my understanding that my first fill will not happen until the third week after the surgery. WHY the special diet for 1st, 2nd and 3rd week after surgery? -

Chad 2181, thanks for the info. I am glad that everything is working out for you. I will be having surgery at the Methodist Hospital in August. Hello to everyone, I would like to hear from anyone who has used Dr. Felix Spiegel in Houston, Tx. I am doing my research before surgery. My reflux could not be controlled with Nexium or any other med. Dr. said have the surgery soon before SERIOUS problems arose. I'm thinking he was referring to esophagus cancer. Thanks for the reply. -

As of this writing I am scheduled to have surgery August 2008. Nine years ago I had reflux surgery where they wrap the top portion of the stomach around the esophagus and stitch it together to prevent acid from going back up. I am told they will have to undo this procedure in order to install the band. I am concerned about my reflux coming back. Has anyone had reflux surgery before having the lap band put in place.
