I feel your pain! I’m sitting on skin Rolls/flaps!! I NEVER thought that would be ANY kind of an issue! -

Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
Tripletsmom1971 replied to chiquitatummy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This isn’t a NSV, but everyone reading this thread HOPEFULLY can give me some insight. I am 18 months PO. I have lost 156 lbs. (total) BUT, WHY do I bite the inside of my mouth when I chew sometimes! Is it the weight lost in the face, sagging to allow me to ‘bite it easier’ now? -

I CANNOT believe that I stand here in a size 10 jeans, I’m not sure I EVER even THOUGHT I would wear that size jeans! Talk about a NSV!! ( down from a 24/26 Jean) -

BTW, there are WAYYY TOOOO many NSV to list! I am constantly in AWE of the things I can DO, move my body, the new size LARGE shorts that are LOOSE as I try them on for the FIRST time! Things I would have never even THOUGHT about attempting. SOOOO much more than ‘how I LOOK’. A bicycle, at 50! Who would have thought! -

I feel this also, not just medical staff. I too have always been very social, upbeat , well liked by most, despite the fact I was 333 pounds. Now that I’ve lost weight, I feel like ppl are ENGAGING with me SOOO MUCH MORE than before. Maybe they are curious about the weight loss, intrigue, maybe they legitimately don’t like ‘fat’ people, who knows, all we can do is BE HAPPY about our ‘new bodies’. We all know we have worked HARD to lose ever pound. No matter how people treat us, we can always be the leaders of the pack. Always be kind ❤️ -
My surgery was June 2021, but I’m LOVING reading your journeys! I remember ALL these things! I called myself a ‘slow loser’, and still say that even after 130 or so pounds is GONE. NOT since surgery date, about 18 months. ( beginning of journey)

This is ME!! I had "give my concert T's to the hubs, THANKFULLY he didn't get rid of them. they FIT! They are too big! -
I STILL have a 30 gram protein shake EVERY morning, as soon as I get out of bed at 5am! I am ALMOST 1 year out!! The shake is super convenient! I feel like is at least "halfway" to my protein goal for the day (and BTW, my nutritionist is completely on board with it!)

I LOVE THIS! It sounded like ME to a T!! There have been SOOOO many NSV! I too felt like I was a ‘slow loser’, but the numbers don’t lie! I’m a few days away from 11 months post op, and it has been a roller coaster of a year! The pics, I NEVER wanted ‘full body’ pics of myself. I can’t STOP taking them now! I still can’t believe how far I’ve come. I still have at least 20 more to lose, and this journey is for LIFE. It’s a daily struggle, of course I still WANT the food, but my mind has changed.

Slow Losers Club…..officially *sigh*

I think we ALL go thru this period. I felt like a failure too, wondering if I did the "right" thing (surgery). I had lost 60 pounds BEFORE surgery, "so why couldn't I do that ALL on my own?" I'm sure my stats were "low" too at that time frame for me. Just keep on! I am BORING when it comes to food. I could "take it OR leave it". The food smells soooo good. THAT didn't change. My MIND is now "changed", HOPEFULLY forever. It takes a WHILE, mentally, NOT just the weight loss. You are "retraining your brain" to "be aware" of WHAT you are consuming. If you just focus on the GOOD changes, the non scale victories, (there are WAY too many to count!), it will ALL work out. whether it's a year, 18 months or LONGER. As long as that the scale is going DOWN (SLOWLY EVEN), that means you are doing this ALL PERFECTLY!! And DON'T forget this VERY important! YOU are a WINNER!! -
It will be here SOON! You will do great! We are all here to support you! Ask ANYTHING!
-
Diabetes, GONE! YOU go girl!! We are doing this! The "hovering", I do that too. But my body is evidently changing, sometimes people (I feel like) go WAY too far with the "look how SKINNY you are!" I am clearly NOT "skinny", lol. SOOOOO many NSV!! I don't even realize "what" all I had been MISSING in life! In 2 days, we are going on vacation in California. It's been SOO liberating to NOT have to worry about "activity levels and weight limits"!!
-
I can't hardly believe it's been almost a year! YOU are doing GREAT! I am loving "less space" taking up! I feel like the weight loss was slow, I felt "stuck and hovering" around the same # for a LONG few months! I kept on doing my thing, it's slowly coming off. I am ALMOST to ONEDERLAND!

How are the June 2021 people??
-
I'm kinda "over" eggs too. Not saying I CANT eat them, just like if I see some deviled eggs, I'll TRY to have one, I THINK it's the texture thing for me. I feel like I LIVE on cheese, protein shakes, Chicken breast, Greek yogurt. tuna packets. Off topic, but I STAY COLD! My blood levels are fantastic! My B12 was high, but doc said that's pretty standard. So my 6 month check up was great. "keep on doing what you are doing" they said.

I also have not been nauseous, AT ALL, I have not found a food I ‘can’t tolerate’, BUT I don’t ‘try crazy different foods’, I stick with what works for my schedule and routine. I know we are supposed to ‘switch it up’ so we don’t get bored. That’s NOT me, I’m boring, protein shake for breakfast, tuna n cheese stick for lunch. Supper ‘varied’, usually chicken breast, and a carb smart ice cream for my ‘sweet’!

I’m a juney! I’m still hanging on! I’ve lost 54 pounds, total since the beginning of my journey ( august 2020) is 111pounds. I’m not losing ‘very fast’, but I’m totally OK with it. I’m not perfect, but I aim for my protein and water, and get them in MOST days :) exercise at the gym at least 3 times a week.

I really HOPE the slow loss DOES help with the skin!!
-
Well, thank you for the vote of confidence! I just mean that I lost more weight ‘pre-surgery’ than I am now, after surgery. I know it takes time, but the pace has changed so dramatically!

What is your biggest obstacle
Tripletsmom1971 replied to ShoppGirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am a slow loser since surgery. I lost over 50 pounds in the 4 months getting ready for the surgery. I TRY not to get down on myself about it, but it’s hard not to! -
How are are all our June surgery ppl doing?? I think I’’m stalled! And have BEEN stalled for weeks! I feel good, I FEEL thinner, my clothes fit loosely, I’ve lost my boobs. I feel like everyone else is dropping weight like a hot potato, so that disheartens me.
-
I am walking, at the gym on a treadmill for an hour a day, until this past Friday, I started "resistance" training. I went back to work yesterday, so I will get my "steps" in there. I am afraid the doc will be ugly to me at my 6 week check-up coming up. But I had been losing consistently before surgery. I had lost an average of 10 pounds a month since January. So I THINK that I had already "cut my calories" down so much that THIS low of calories isn't cutting it anymore. I am trying the resistance training in hopes of "burning" some of this fat! lol. I was losing WAY more before surgery!

I’m 4 weeks I day post op, and have only lost 11 pounds. I don’t know WHAT I’m doing wrong.
