I am officially down a size! I was originally busting out of my 22's and 3x's weren't any to big. I have my 10yr high school reunion next weekend and wanted something new to wear, so I ordered 2x and size 20 (plus) from Old Navy and they fit and I actually have room!!! I am well on my way to 18's and 1x!! Yeah, I am excited. Just wish my thighs would shrink some more though...that was the only place they were snug.

I have thought about the very same thing. Actually, a couple of my girlfriends told me on the day after my surgery that they both have first chance at my old clothes!! I thought that was funny, yet very encouraging.

Today (still on mushies too) B: 1 scrambled egg w/bit of cheese L: 3oz tuna mixed w/2tbsp light mayo, a hard boiled egg, and s/f relish D: 1/4 c ricotta cheese baked with spaghetti sauce S: 1/4 c lowfat/sugar free fake pumpkin pie I was getting a little bummed because I hadn't lost any weight since this time last week. But...I did measure myself last week (glad I did) and I have lost a total of 10.5 inches sonce last week.

Thanks, I have my first post-op appoint on Fri...so I can ask for sure then. But was curious what other people have been told.

Hey guys, just started mushies today. So far, so good. Does anybody know how much fat we should be getting in a day?

What kind of margarine/mayo do you use?

I like Parkay Spray on steamed veggies (high in sodium though so I don't use much), Smart Balance Light, and have always used Helmanns Light...it is very good. -
I like the greek yogurt either plain or I will add some cinnamon, vanilla and a little splenda...very good!!

Hey guys, I just tried my protein bullet a bit ago. I had the orange. It was ok, can still taste the whey protein and it has an after taste. The first sip was out of the bullet itself...after that I added it to a few oz of Powerade Zero and it was much better. I think that this will be better for me since the whole bullet is only 3.1 oz. I think I will use half in the morning and half in the evening. Hope this helps, I think this might be a good option for anyone that is having trouble with all the chocolaty flavors. All of the flavors are fruity.

Hey, thanks for looking that up. I had seen the comment on here somewhere about the absorption of the protein. I ordered my bullets from: IDS Sports New-Whey Liquid Protein, 25 g Protein (2.9 oz. vial) Mine should be here tomorrow sometime according to FedEx. I have since found them a little cheaper...so you might do a little searching to find them cheaper. They are kind of expensive but at this point well worth it. I can't handle the protein shakes, other than Slim Fast. But I am thinking that I will have to use them in two servings. I wonder how far between servings we have to wait? Teri, hope you feel better and keep an eye on that incision

You mean that she is putting it down? Why is that?

My Dr said that they really aren't doing the RNY anymore. He said that they haven't done one since they began doing the band...must be the going trend. Much safer also.

Amen Janine!! lol I was tired of sweet, chocolaty stuff by Thurs. I have one heck of a time stomaching the protein powder. I am sticking with my low carb slim fast for now. I ordered some protein bullets that have I think 42g protein for 3oz...the flavors are grape, fruit punch and so on. I can't wait until they come in. I did read the same thing Teri about nit absorbing more than 30g of protein at one time. So I am thinking that I am going to have to slit up the 3oz...even easier! :rolleyes2: I will let you guys know how they are once I get them.

I agree with Steph co, I went to curves (pre-band) and the harder you work it the better you are. When I was really dedicated to it I lost around 12 inches all over and went down a pants size. It is like anything else it works well if you work it! I didn't loose much weight at all, but did loose a ton of inches. I did try to stay on the machines a little longer (1 minute) if there weren't alot of people that were behind me. I can't wait to get back to it with my new band. Hope this helps. For anyone else that has done Curves how long after surgery did you wait to get back to it?

Hey Amanda! We were there at the same time!! lol I was also banded Sept 16th at Holzer by Dr Canaday! ha My husband thought that was pretty ironic. How are you doing? When do you go for your post op appt? -Amber

Not sure if anyone posted anything similar yet, but I thought that this sounds great with a little tweaking of course. No peanuts for garnish, and use low carb Peanut Butter and use butter spray possibly. I had something similar to this in Williamsburg last year...very good! Peanut Butter Soup 2 tablespoons butter 2 tablespoons grated onion 1 stalk celery, thinly sliced 2 tablespoons flour 3 cups chicken broth 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter 2 tablespoons dry sherry 2 teaspoons lemon juice 1/4 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons chopped dry roasted peanuts In medium sauce pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and celery and sauté 5 minutes. Stir in flour and mix until well blended. Gradually stir in chicken broth. Stirring to keep mixture smooth, simmer 30 minutes. Remove from heat and strain. Return liquid to heat and stir in peanut butter, sherry, lemon juice and salt. Heat through and serve garnished with chopped peanuts. Makes: 4-6 servings.

I finally had a BM this morning, I was starting to worry a bit. I am feeling pretty good today. Almost back to normal, except for the occasional discomfort from the port site. I am pretty sure that most of the gas has passed. I think alot of the edema is going down, I was able to meet my fluid requirements yesterday. Didn't meet the protein yesterday, but aiming for it today. Brenna's Mama - I am allowed to have "full liquids" pretty much anything that you can sip through a straw (with no straw of course) I can have strained cream soups, pudding, thinned mashed potatoes, protein shakes...I then move on to mushies after two weeks and then onto soft foods. Hope this helps.

Congrats, that is wonderful! You should be so proud!

Hey guys, I was just wondering how much you guys are taking in each day so far protein, liquids and such. I know I am not getting all that they wanted me to, but I am having a hard time getting much down at all. I am getting really full quickly and full even with water. I suppose it is still the edema, I just don't want to harm myself from not having enough. Any thoughts, or ideas...

Hello, feeling much better today. I think alot of my trouble eating yesterday was a mix of the edema and gas. The gas finally started moving last night, and is still rumbling today. But much more comfortable today. I was actually able to get down some pudding this morning. I had trouble getting the high protein stuff down yesterday. Gonna try some more today. Got up this morning at 4am starving and had a couple oz of sugar free JELLO. So I knew then that I was feeling better. This afternoon is 48 hours and I will be allowed to take off my bandages and shower! Ahh, that will be wonderful! Hope everyone has a good day! Amber

I got home yesterday around 3:30 pm, arrived around 7:00am. Surgery went well, my O2 SAT's kept staying fairly low so they had me on O2 for a bit after. With some deep breathing though they went right up. I had a hard time staying awake after they brought me back in to the recovery room. I slept pretty much the whole way home. Not alot of pain, most of course around the port site. My most trouble is scooting up on the couch and standing up from it. I had some yogert this morning, did ok with that. Tried my protein shake a bit ago, had a few ounces but got full very quickly and honestly really didn't want anything to do with it. I am going to try a bit more after I get off here. Hope the eating gets a bit easier, I am afraid I am going to have a hard time getting in all of my protein and fluids for the day otherwise. Glad to hear that everyone is doing ok.

My arrival time for surgery is 7am. We live about an hour away so we are going to a nearby hotel tonight so we don't have to get up so early. I will give an update as soon as I get back and no longer feel like a zombie! lol Good luck tomorrow everyone!
