September Surgery Buddies!!
FLPhoenix replied to happilylacey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same here, I am averaging about 2lbs per week. If I work out less it's less than a pound. I am OK with that though as I hope this helps with some of the shrinking of excess skin as it gets filled in with muscle. Sent from my SM-G998U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -

6 Almost 6 months out and have lost
FLPhoenix replied to Ready21's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am three months out and already have increased appetite. Its no where near the hanger type hunger pre-surgery though. I am still eating around 3-3.5 oz and have lost about 45 lbs. I had a VSG. Sent from my SM-G998U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -
3 days Post Op-please tell me it's going to get better
FLPhoenix replied to armartin98's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will improve overtime. The first week is the hardest for sure. I am 3 months PostOp and feeling great and have more of an appetite now. I still have to eat slowly and make sure I am eating moist foods. I am also able to chug water a little compared to right after surgery. Sent from my SM-G998U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Two months post-VSG - bullet-pointed update
FLPhoenix replied to vikingbeast's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Happens to me too and I am 1.5 months Vsg post op. I get that air bubble feeling and it is terrible to try to burp it up as it doesn't make it up all the time. If it feels like food is lodged and I start getting a ton of foamies I do end up vomiting a little. I use my iWatch timer for 2 minutes between bites has helped my brain catch up with my eyes as it relates to hunger. Just when I start to think I have enough room for that last bite...I stop and wait more and realize it's not happening. What does NUT mean.... nutritionist or significant other? [emoji51] Now that I am trying to get back into weight lifting I have definitely noticed a huge loss of muscle and strength...but as we are able to eat more I am hoping to gain back muscle. Hi everyone, I am getting closer to getting all the approvals in place for surgery. The approval I was most nervous about was the Psychological Evaluation but, it went quite well last week. Obviously, this is a big decision that I am not taking lightly so......Out of curiosity, do any of you have any regrets thus far? Are any post op issues you have encountered that have made you regret having surgery or have the benefits have really outweighed the issues? I am mainly worried about dehydration since today I do chug a lot of water. Thanks for your feedback!☺️

2nd day on full diet and have been sick all day.
FLPhoenix replied to Sharon B.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told to stay away from all carbs once able to eat 3 meals at one month post op plus 2 protein drinks for snacks. I also recommend making soft boiled eggs not hard. The runny yolk helps ease the egg down. If you eat too fast or food is too dry you will feel sick, like something is stuck right in the middle of your chest. I have learned the hard way by getting sick a few times when I eat too fast. It's OK to not finish your whole meal. Its mentally annoying since we are so used to eating all of it but it's an adjustment you have to learn. Sent from my SM-G998U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -
If you are seeking a chip to curve your crunch and chip craving, look no further. 19g protein and 4g net carbs. Soo tasty! Sent from my SM-G998U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

I hate to say it but, if nothing is working and you know you have a blockage, Fleet makes a suppositories that are little bottles. I just had this problem and it helped. I was taking Senna S every other day and Smooth Move tea at night but due to being a little dehydrated nothing was helping. Sent from my SM-G998U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

Curious what you all have come up with for your mushy food phase? Looking for ideas so I don't get bored with tuna salad every day. Thanks! Sent from my SM-G998U1 using BariatricPal mobile app

September Surgery Buddies!!
FLPhoenix replied to happilylacey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pretty much the same for me days 1-3 were terrible and that gas pain was excruciating. Completely stuck under my chest. Once that subsided the actual incision pain was not too bad. I am feeling great now too, I am still in complete shock of how much I have lost in so little time. After years of trying to get back down. Crazy and surreal!!! I got clearance yesterday to start the Mushy Phase, never have I been so excited for eggs and tuna salad [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G998U1 using BariatricPal mobile app -
Today, I am officially one week and a day post-op. The first 2-3 days by far were the worse and even caused me to have “buyer’s remorse”. But for anyone thinking about surgery, do it! It gets a little easier each day. You do have to learn to be patient with how your body initially reacts to anything you ingest. Is the diet post-op boring? Absa-freaking-lutely! But I can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thus far, I have lost 15 lbs, I am astonished. Those 15 lbs have allowed me to drop a size to a 16. I haven’t been able to get down to that size since 5 years ago, before I had my first child. Everyone has those shorts or clothes that you hang on to because you are determined to fit back into them. This week my NSVs were fitting into two pairs of shorts I have been hanging onto. I am so happy! Another NSV (TMI topic) is that I am fully back to being “regular” on my BMs, makes me feel a little more normal since it took about 4 days after surgery to have one.

September Surgery Buddies!!
FLPhoenix replied to happilylacey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery is this Wednesday the 29th. I am on day 2 of liquid diet. It is especially hard to do this diet right now as I just recently lost my grandfather to cancer we didn’t know he even had until two weeks ago. Tomorrow is his funeral, the day before my surgery. 😔 I really hope to have the strength to recover well,I am emotionally tired and obviously not having comfort food or any solid food during this time is tough. -

I start my pre-op diet tomorrow of low carbing for 11 days and then three days on liquid. Anyone else eat all the stuff they love before starting the diet? Not going to lie, I made shrimp with pasta tonight! Getting nervous about the surgery now that it’s closer.

I am just a few week away from my surgery date, 9/29/21. Today was my pre-op visit with my primary to get the scripts for the lab work and chest x-ray. She decides to NOW mention that maybe I should postpone and try using Ozempic/Wegovy for weight loss,....wait, what?! She first said that the sleeve would be a great idea for me, recommended one surgeon but I decided on someone else. Has anyone used these meds and had any success?. I looked up Wegovy which is the higher dose of Ozempic for weight loss. Insurance won’t cover it. They would cover some of Ozempic but still super expensive and the medical code for Diabetes would be used for the claim and I am not diabetic. I left that appointment so disillusioned, she has already approved the surgery but to mention the medication now is too little, too late for me. I am mentally ready to do this. I was trying to avoid getting on any long term prescriptions just for weight loss and not to mention side effects include pancreatitis and a slew of other things. So frustrated and a bit down today after the visit. 🙁

Frustrating Pre-Op PCP Visit
FLPhoenix replied to FLPhoenix's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She did give me all the paperwork I needed. It’s just annoying that she first was for surgery and now just decides to put doubts in my mind about it 🙉 -
Correct, my dietician says the 30/30 rule (30min before, during and after eating) should be followed for life. To make sure you are getting in enough protein at first, avoid getting sick and later so you don’t flush more food down your tummy during maintenance phase as that can cause overeating.
