September sleevers wanted!

I am scheduled for the 27th in Santo dominigo:thumbup: -
Hi Maggies and JWRN- I saw the dr yesterday he seems very positive that I shouldn't have a problem getting approved ( Im guessing lots of people have been told this aswell ) but apparently my blood pressure was high again and he claims if you have more than one reading aleast a week apart that are high then you have Hypertension which is covered by tricare. I just have to get copies of the readings even though I am not on medication for it. I'm trying not to get my hopes up does this sound right or is it too good to be true. Anyway thanks for your advice. Ashley

Thanks for the advice! I have my appt with the dr. on wednesday and I know he will order the sleep test. No I am not on blood pressure meds my quack PCM ( which I do not see anymore ) told me it was fine and not to worry. I'm glad to hear you are both doing well and I will post after I see the dr on Wednesday. Thanks Ashley

Hi- Maggies, JWRN Congrats on all your sucess! I have been watching your posts for a little over a month you have been very informative. I have tricare prime and it took six months to get a referral from my PCM. I have an appt with the surgeon on Wednesday. The last few times I went in my BP was 142/84 and then 140/80. My PCM told me its normal not to worry. I had my Gallbladder removed about six years ago due to gallstones. I am just at the 100lb mark and I'm trying not to get my hopes up. I dont have any other severe co morbidities ( I've not had a sleep study done ) Im sure my cholestrol is high but I was wondering since you two have been through this and given out a lot of advice. What do you think the chances are of getting approved? Thanks Ashley:unsure:

Ok so I have been to the doc and had my blood sugar tested not diabetic (a good thing ) I may have a problem with my thyroid I have to have more tests however I am not sure if that is a covered problem and do you have to be on medication for it or just diagnoised with it. My BMI is 41.6 and I had gallbladder surgery about four years ago and of course back and knee pain but I don't have any problems that tricare seems to consider a covered co morbidity. I had to change my PCM because we just keep butting heads ( she apparently doesn't feel that need to do her job ) anyway I was five minutes late for last appointment so she refused to see me but anyway does anyone have any suggestions please. I am really desperate for help. Thanks

I have tricare prime. I understand I need a referral ( which is starting to feel impossible ) I keep getting different information. What are the requirements for Tricare I am 100lbs overweight but I don't have any documented co morbidities. I had to have my gallbladder removed four years ago and I have back pain but I haven't had any bloodwork done since I moved here three years ago. I was told the 100lbs was enough by the surgeons office but the nurse at the base is telling me she won't do a referral without two co morbidities. Can someone please make sense for me. I am really up and down emotionally with this I get excited thinking its going to go through and then so angry when I hit a wall. Anyone with advise Please Help. Thanks

my psych eval is less than a week old and yes I have everything but the referral and my bloodwork. I even have a letter of appeal in case its denied but most people seem to have a pretty easy time getting approved I just wonder why mine is going to slowly and if there is something else that other people have done.

Has anyone who has Tricare Prime been banded? How did you get approval I am having a really hard time..any suggestions please

My PCM is working on my referral I have already gone to the seminar, had an eval, done my psych eval but the last visit to my PCM I had a BMI of 37 since then ( over a yr ago ) I had a child ( six month ago ) and have gained my weight back and then some..I have a physcial schedule next week which will show my BMI at 40 but does anyone have any suggestions as to what I need after that to get approval??

Thanks rondidq2 maybe things will get easier I hope your surgery goes well don't forget to log back on and let us all know.... -
Not sure if anyone else has had this problem. I am in the process of trying to get approved my BMI is where is needs to be but if I lose a pound it won't be. Problem is that even though I have struggled with my weight all my life, six months ago I gave birth to a wonderful baby boy. He is one of the best things in my life but not so wonderful on my body. I have a bad back and he's not getting any lighter either. I lost weight after he was born but gained it all and then some after I went back to work. I have Tricare and they don't care that my back gives out and I fall and it's difficult to take care of a child under those conditions. I have been sent for PT twice now, not helping but anyway has anyone gotten approval from tricare for the surgery and if so HOW!! I am desperate.
