Band not even around my stomach?...!??!!
boxerlover7 replied to aspenAvery's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow. The only thing that comes to mind is "Wtf?". I don't see how they don't notice something like that? -
I've been a member on here for a while, but never really posted and/or attended any support groups and I'm starting to think it was a bad idea. So now, I am turning to you guys. Lol. I have had my band since July 2008 and have only lost about 40-50 lbs. I have followed everything I was supposed to, watched what I eat and I go to the gym at least 5 days a week, but I am always hungry. I currently have 9cc in a 10cc band and can still eat basically anything I want without getting blocked. By anything, I mean breads, steak, white meat chicken...ANYTHING. I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the situation and more so by some people on here that are losing 100+lbs in 8 months. I also have somebody I work with who had it done about the same time I did and has lost 150lbs with little effort and no exercise. It just doesn't seem fair. I don't really understand why the surgery didn't work for me and I'm not looking for pity, I am mainly just looking for some tips from other people that might have the same problem. The last esophagram I had done (about 5 months ago) showed everything was normal and my surgeon basically says she doesn't know what's wrong and keeps filling it in hopes that it will work. We have also drawn out the Fluid to make sure it isn't leaking. Is anybody else having the same issue?

I'm pretty sure I have the lapband. Reading some stuff from other people, a lot of them seem to know everything about their bands and I don't know all the specifics. I was actually just thinking about re-reading everything I got after the surgery when I get home from work. Haha.

It's weird, because I did have restriction at one point towards the beginning and now it's nothing. I just talked to my Dr. and am going to get an esophagram to make sure everything is alright. We'll see. And I started at 296lbs, I'm at 251 right now, so I do have a decent amount to lose. It's hard not to compare my weightloss to other people's. I know everybody is different and whatnot, it's just frustrating :smile2:

Hey guys. I got banded on July 7th and am scheduled for my first fill tomorrow  I'm curious what to expect from it.

I'm a newbie, just got banded on monday. I'm just wondering if any of you experienced basically no hunger at all after being banded...I know it's only been a few days, but I honestly have no desire for anything. I've only managed to get down a single shake a day since the surgery and I know I should be getting more than that. Any tips on how to force myself to drink more shakes?

Itchy red bumps around incision area?
boxerlover7 replied to zeama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have these all over my sides and stomach. I figured they were a reaction to the iodine they used during surgery. I have my week checkup tomorrow so I will ask my doctor then and let you know what she says. -
shakes and protein questions
boxerlover7 replied to Jillbeme65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to be on the liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to and 2 weeks after surgery. I've been using slimfast mainly because it tastes good and is easy to get (usually at grocery stores). They have a few different kinds so you don't get sick of them. -
Smokers thats been to their surgeon for consult
boxerlover7 replied to dolly_lala's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about your age (25) and I was smoking since I was about 10 years old (I know..ridiculous) Either way....I took chantix and haven't picked up a cigarette since August 2007 (almost a year!) I think it's a good idea to look into this if you are having a tough time quitting. It pointless to have surgery to be healthier if you are going to continue polluting your body with cigarettes. Good luck! -
I've been living off slimfast for the past 3 weeks lol I like the chocolate royale and strawberry and cream...that one kind of tastes like strawberry milk. They are very good though.

I've had the same feeling, but it's starting to subside now. So I am feeling better, but I still have no desire to eat anything -
Almost 7 months out...no weight loss
boxerlover7 replied to CajunCutie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The only thing you really can do is completely commit to it. You can't expect it to work if you don't follow the rules. Have a little more faith in yourself and make an effort to do what they tell you to do and it will work. -
Surgery in 5 days...NERVES! NEED ADVICE!
boxerlover7 replied to j_holm07's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm scheduled to have it done on monday, but my surgeon required the liquid diet 2 weeks before and after..so I've been on it for almost 2 weeks, it's hard, but only when you're around food. I stopped thinking about food after the second day. -
Insurance companies are a real pain. It took me 2 years to get my insurance company to approve it and my BMI is somewhere around 53. So I wish you the best of luck and keep trying....don't let them weasel their way out of it!

boxerlover7 replied to SanDiegoSusan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Mine is scheduled for July 7th (monday) at NYU. Very excited, a little nervous. -
Hey, just joined the site wanted to introduce myself. My name is Sandy, I'm from NJ. Having the lapband surgery done on Monday...it's been an ongoing process for about 2 years trying to get insurance to cover it, but they finally accepted it :biggrin2: Woohoo. I'm very excited, if you couldn't tell.
