How do you keep track of weight loss?
snzgetsfit replied to Bjornsyouruncle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a Tanita scale because it also tells you % Water. I know my weight can fluctuate because of holding onto water so it relieves me to know when my water weight is high. There are many different models but in general, they are great IMHO. -
41/ f/ ny (long island) would definitely be interested in meeting friends with LB, single men who could understand (maybe lead to more) or just email buddies. I love the support here. Stephanie

I ordered my bodybugg and it's due to arrive via UPS on Wednesday. Yay....I can't wait. I'm curious how many calories I burn doing nothing as a couch potato right now. LOL. And sleeping too...that should be interesting to know. Then, I"m hoping the motivation will kick in....I can't wait. How many people have the new version 3 with the digital display thingy??? Stephanie

I just ordered my bodybugg from 24fitness.com (the gym on biggest loser) b/c they have a great deal right now. It's still quite an investment $249 which incl armband & NEW digital display. The display is $99. The price is usually $349 for the whole thing. It comes w/ 1 phone call w/ their trainer (i think to set it all up) and a 6 month sub for the website. After the 6 mos...it's either $15/mo or $99 for a yr of the website. The $99 doesn't seem bad to me. I can't wait to get it. I"m hoping this will be the kick in the butt that I need..when I see PROOF in numbers that I'm not using up MORE calories than I've eaten I'll know why the weight isn't coming off.
I would definitely like to keep in touch. No problem.

I just ordered a bodybugg and I can't wait to get it and start using it. I was banded 9/25/08 and my loss has been slow. I know its a learning process and I'm learning everyday. The one thing I know I've been slackin' on is the exercise so I was hoping that seeing what my true intake is vs. my calorie burn would help me get motivated!! Hoping this thread will be a good support for using my new tool. The bandsters here are the greatest.

For those wondering about flying...
snzgetsfit replied to littlefroggy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got back from a trip and I was worried about going through the metal detectors and having to explain or get wanded during the holiday crowds. No problem. And no problem with tightening on the flight either. Everything went smoothly coming and going. -
I stayed the same from fill #1 to fill #2. I thought I would have lost about 3 but I stayed the same. I think I was bloated...PMS. But like someone else said I keep going up n down the same 3 pounds....I'm waiting for a drop. I just keep taking it one meal at a time....and I know it will happen. I'm at the low end of the loss column but I keep thinkin 'bout the bigger picture....this is a lifelong change that I am making.

September bandsters
snzgetsfit replied to mjacot35's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 9/25 and I lost 12 lbs in the first 6 weeks, had a fill, and then in the next 4 weeks didn't lose anything. #2 fill and now at 11 weeks i'm still at 12 lbs. I feel like I'm retaining Water cuz I thought I'd go down 3 more lbs. I'm just being patient cuz I know i'm eating right and it WILL come off. Right now, I think I feel a little bit of restriction but can mostly eat a little too much so I'm really trying to make myself stop. All n all, a great learning process and I'm in this for the long haul. There are people who've lost MUCH more than me but I'm trying not to compare. I've always been a slow loser so why should I expect any different. Keepin' the faith Stephanie -
I'm Stephanie, single, 41, from Long Island and banded 9/25 in Syosset. I would love to meet other single Long Islanders....

snzgetsfit replied to h@rt*s mommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi malvo. Getting the band has been the best decision I've ever made. i'm losing slowly but emotionally I already feel fit and healthy. -
Hello...I hope everybody's thanksgiving went well. The turkey was a little tricky for me chewing-wise so I had a bite and then ate 2 meatballs...mmmm...lol. Anyway, I survived. I was more worried about the appetizers than the actual meal. And dessert...I had a sliver of apple pie and part of a brownie. I wasn't going to deprive myself. I left and felt great and think the scale went down the next morning.Yeah I was banded on 9/25 and am losing slowly which is perfectly fine for me. I go for my 2nd fill 12/5 and I can't wait. I keep reminding myself I'm in this for the long haul.

What does restriction feel like ??
snzgetsfit replied to Illiana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was wondering the same thing. What does restriction feel like? I hope those of you who have found their "sweet spot" will answer. I've had one fill and am definitely NOT feeling much restriction at all. -
I also notice this indentation and it is definitely where the port is..I 'm guessing its because its attached to the abdomen. If i contract my stomach muscles I can see the indent more.
-
I guess I'll just be crossing my fingers they find the port on the first try to minimize pain. That incision does seem to be the only tender one so I only hope. 3 days and counting til that fill. i can't wait. I decided to take a personal day and make it my "feel good fill day" and go shopping and buy a new piece of clothing even though i haven't really lost much yet. It's a celebration of immense proportion....just the fact that I went thru with the surgery and this is my life path now. I feel great with only a 12 pound loss and can only anticipate feeling better and better. this group is a great support.

I go for my first fill this Friday, Nov. 7th. I had an afternoon appt. and I changed it for the morning. I can't wait for it...these last few days I've been hungry and eating a little too much that it got me scared. So, the fill can hurt but I don't care...I want that fill so badly now. 6 weeks post seems like an eternity and I've lost approx. 12 pounds I think. I hope this fill will get me losing some more now. Steph

Funny...the last 2 days I have been hungry too. I woke up today to find the scale was up 1.5 pounds. OMG! i can't wait to go to my dr. this thursday fro my 2 week post-op appt. Steph

Hi Terri...Cooperstown...I've always wanted to visit...big baseball fan of course. lol I live on Long Island so it's quite a hike. Glad to hear you are doing well. I'm 6 days out and feeling pretty well...just the one spot which I guess might be the port site. I'm not sure where it was supposed to be located but its sort of in the middle toward the left. Do you think its the port? I should have asked the Dr. before I left the hospital. I guess I'll find out when I have my appt on 10/9. i think i may have lost a couple pounds since surgery day which is cool. I think i'm still in shock that I did this...i'm so excited. I'm new to posting and have no blog and don't know how to make the cool icons everyone has...I guess i"ll learn cuz I want to really get involved. woo hoo!!!

cool to meet people with my same surgery date. I'm liking this already. Can't wait to explore more and more. THx

Hello...my name is Stephanie and this is my first post. I am so excited for this new ride. My surgery was Thursday, 9/25 in NY. I have no idea what this Samurai stuff is about but I'm ready to be a part of it. I am feeling pretty darn good. I was sore the day after...but moreso in my arm/hand where they RIPPED the IV out of me!!! OMG!! I'm a bit tired now but I'll post some more another time. I'm looking forward to sharing and hearing of everyone's experiences as we go on....
