    Hi Ya'll

Hello Lady Di, I am from Texas also. Marshall. I also was self pay $17,500. I decided to do it locally so I wouldn't have to worry about my fills and any complications. Which I guess is a good thing, since I'm having port problems already. Good Luck in your lapband journey.

    Band slipped?

Are you able to eat or drink anything and keep it down? If so, that a good sign that it probably isn't slippage. Can you remember if you have bumped the port area at all? I've heard that can cause some pain... like when you bump leg and get a bruise. Hopefully somebody that has had their band longer can give you some more feedback. I hope you feel better soon.
  4. Okay, I take it from no response......... that the ports usually don't move around. So I guess I have a small problem, but I am hoping it's really nothing.

    Questions for group...

I didn't have to do all liquid, but had to do high protein low carb. They want us to do some form of diet(be it high protein or "liquid torture") to help reduce the size of the liver, so that they have more room to place the band.

    Frustrated somewhat!

Don't give up fight with the insurance company. I was unable to ge my insurance to pay, even with a BMI of 49.7 and HBP and depression. Aetna claimed there wasn't enough wrong with me. So in the long run of it, my hubby decided we could self pay. We took a home equity loan. I don't regret it and I am glad I was able to at least do it this way instead of giving up totally. But fight fight fight and don't give up!

    1 week post op visit

On week 2 of post-op diet. I have had the banana nut weight smart instant oatmeal the last 2 mornings. (i did however add a little fat-free half and half to it to make it a little runnier) It went down fine and was yummy!

Here is my Grandson (14yr old)

Penni, Sounds like y'all have had alot of fun. You've got 2 cute boys there! Everytime somebody my age talks about their grandkids....I think OMG no way do they have grandkids(LOL). Then I have to remember that yes it is possible and that I just got a late start having kids. I certainly won't be the "fun" granny riding rides with my grandkids (since my girls are only 8 and 4 now), but I hope to loose enough weight to become a "fun" mom! Hope you enjoy your "chill" time this weekend!

Kelly, Thanks for the info!!! Which flavors do you like the best?

    Egads! Can I do this???

Dawn, I know where you are coming from. I too have been on every diet and can't seem to loose. I also have a big apron(which got bigger after 2 kids), so I totally understand the sex drive(lack of) deal. I am only into my second week with the band, but lost 8 lbs the first week. I went out to eat with my family tonight and a small bowl of Soup actually filled me up. I can't believe what I would have eaten before. I can't help you with the Mexico bit, but there are plenty of bandsters here that did get their band in Mexico and they can give you alot of good info. I too was self-pay and I know I will not regret spending the $$. This was a start to a new life for me. I have 2 little girls and I want to live to see them grow up. LBT is a good place to ask you questions or voice your concerns, because there are so many wonderful, supporting people here. Good Luck on your journey.

Dylansmom, What kind of protien shake do you use??? I am new at this and I want to get a good one, none of the ones I've looked at come close to 50g per shake. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
  15. Shanna, Sorry to hear about your slip. I will keep my fingers crossed and hope that the unfill helps correct the slip.

    high blood pressure

Sorry to hear that happend, but it is probably safer than doing the surgery with your BP up. I also have high BP and it is controlled well with the medication. Keep us posted on what you find out next week at the doctor.

Young People : Did you get approved

Mgood, Don't choose Aetna!!!! They make you jump thru too many hoops and will most likely say no!!! I had a BMI of 49.7, comorbidities - HBP, DEpression, NECK,Back and HIp problems and they wouldn't approve me. (I had to end up self-paying $17,500)

    Got a call today......

THat's great!!! Tuesday is a good day for surgery( that's the day of the week I had mine done) Best of luck on your upcoming banding.
  20. I went to my post-op today and she told me it would be 4-6 more weeks before I get a fill. (so I am right there with you...with my luck it will be the 1st or 2nd week of May) But I do understand I need to finish healing on the inside and let the swelling continue to go down. When I start to get frustrated, I do think, just as Suzanne said, about what I will look like next year!!! (((hugs))) the next month will go by fast and May will be here before we know it!

    Pre op????????

My pre-op was low carb/high protein and I had sf jello with it. I didn't have any popsicles, but I think if they were sf, they would be okay on low carb or liquid pre-op diet
  25. I got my band yesterday(21st). I had my surgery at 8:30am, and was up drinking baium at 2pm for Doctor to see if things were passing ok. I got home around 6pm. I had to cut my pain pills into 4ths to be able to take them....let me tell you after 8 chunks and some sips of Water I felt so full. Today hasn't been as bad. My mom and I took the girls to school and went to Target and SteinMart and a few other little shops. LOL hubby won't believe I was able to go out and spend his money today!!!! thanks to all of you who pepped talk me in the days prior to my surgery!!!!
