My weight loss has been okay. I am down 19 pounds. I have had 2 fills and have a total of 1.5cc in a 10cc band. I will be getting a 3rd fill next week Only people who know I have had the surgery have said anything about my weight loss. The real deal will be when my brother or sister notice.... I never told them I was having surgery(and my mom has kept the secret). I notice my shrinking because I am able to wear clothes I haven't been able to wear in a while. I have had a couple of complications, both involved the tubing. I had emergency surgery 13 days after the placement of the lapband, to put the tubining back in place and shorten it some. The 2nd time the tubing kinked, it resolved itself within 3 days. I have had several sliming incidents(gross!!!!!) and a foaming incident(not as gross!!!) and 1 pb(not so bad). Overall I am happy with my band, and know that she will help me reach my goal!!!!

Robin, I hope you are able to get this taken care of soon!! I will be praying that god sends some help to you and ends your suffering. I agree with Melody, put some boards under the head of the bed, It will definately help!!(and get rid of the extra pillows) -

Wow, glad to hear you are doing well after your appendix removal!!! I don't know about the surgery question. Why don't you call Dr. Benevides' office and see if the nurse can answer the question for you. Take care and rest.

It depends on the amount your sugeon bills the insurance and what they allow. For instance say your doctor billed the insurance $13,500 and the insurance says the allowable expense for the procedure is $10,000 then you would have to pay $2000 of the $10,000. The same goes for the amount the hospital or surgical center charges. Sometimes it is hard to "guesstimate" because the insurance company won't tell you what they will allow on the eligible charges until the charges are actually submitted for payment. I know this because I was a medical insurance underwriter for several years.

Thanks Jessie, Anne, 3loves, and Andrea! It's nice to have the support from all of you!!! I feel less stressed about it today and the discomfort level has diminished. Jessie: I might take you up on the pm thing, because it's nice to have somebody reassure you when you have all kinds of crazy thoughts go thru you head!!!! 3loves: My surgeon has decided when she goes in on monday to disconnect the tubing from the port and shorten it and reconnect. She thinks with the shorter lenghth it won't kink again. But she thought that last week when she fixed the kink and tack the tubing down to the abdominal wall. I am just a little leery that she is going to try to fix it this time in her office under a local. I'm not sure I want to be awake for this!!! LOL nervously!!!!! I love all you girls and again I really appreciate you all!!!!

Roni, Glad to hear things went well for you!!! I can't wait til I get a fill, I've been so hungry!!! But until they get the tubing problem fixed I won't be getting fill. Can you tell if you have restriction??? I think 195 is a great goal, take small steps, that way the goal doesn't seem unattainable.

Well it all went well last night!!!!! I got to the hospital at 4:30pm, waited in the waiting room til about 6:20pm They took me back and prepped me and I went to the OR at 7:30pm and was back in the recovery at 8:15pm. left the hospital around 8:30pm and was home before 10pm(which I guess is good, considering we have about an hour drive from hops to the house) Well back to the surgery....... Once the doctor got in there, she was surprised that it was not the port causing the problem(it was still sewn in place right where it should be). It was actually the tubing, it had ridden up and buckled/kinked into a hump right under the main incision. All the rubbing it had done had caused a big sac of fluid to fill there. She drained off all the fluid. Then she put the tube back in place and stitched it into place. She says she has never had to stitch one down before. So I guess that this must not be a common problem. Thanks to all you that posted well wishes to me yesterday!!!! Dodi - Thanks for reminding me that if I don't get the support I need at home I can get it here!! (your a doll) Hubby has gotten over the money thing. It helped today when I found out that the hospital still had $1050 balance due on the originall banding surgery, I called and said no way!!!! This surgery was to be a set price $17,500. So the doctor's office got involved, She called me back and said That had been taken care of and I did not owe that. Yay!!!! I just saved hubby $1000 (LOL):ban: He was happy about that!!!
