I didn't know you could have a port while you were pregnant. How long have your had your band?

I know what you mean about not stopping. That is one of the biggest problems I am having right now, but I really think it is because I need a fill more than I won't stop. Before I got this open, I was able to eat enough to be satisfied and stop. It made me feel good to stop at smaller portions. I would want a snack sometime later, but I tried to do what you do and eat things with low cals. Now I think it is a mind thing more than anything. I know I can eat more so I do. I also know I can stretch the limits some and I have done that. Epically when it tastes good or I am feeling lonely. I am going through a lot of changes right now. I need a part time job while I finish getting my college degree, my son is struggling in his life, and our finances are a little crazy. A lot of pressures going on, but I am doing pretty good for the most part. How long have you been a mentor? Yes, subject change because I know it will all work out.

Katja, When you say restriction, can you tell me how you feel? Do you only feel it when you are eating or all the time? I am like you. I have had five or six fills, but three taken out recently because I was so sick. I had allergy issues that caused a lot of drainage so anytime I ate or drank anything I could not keep it down. It was scary. I lost 15 pounds in a week. I have since then put it back on, and that is why I am ready to get a fill. I know I can eat now and I want to continue the journey of losing the weight.

You are so right laurinda. I do deserve this! This is the first time that I have done something for myself and this is pretty extreme. I appreciate your encouragement. Just being able to find people to talk to is a great start. I know I will do a lot better now. I just have start believing in myself again.

What is a majic bullett? -
Question? When you eat, do you feel any restriction or do you just stop eating bc you know you had enough?

Just wondering how many Bandsters & Pre-Bandsters are in Arkansas?
true2self replied to Jessiebear's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes!! I go to the same clinic and love both of the doctors there (Dr. Ron Hekier, and Dr. Rachael Keilin). I am hoping that we can get a support group closer to Fort Smith, AR -
do you chat?

Your right....I need to make one choice at a time. I need to say will, but I have to be honest, my will feels really weak. I am like you though, I can eat anything even when I have my fill to where it needs to be. I just don't eat as much. I have been blessed that way. I have a friend who does not have that ability. She has struggled somewhat since surgery. I am going to work on my attitude and will make good choices tomorrow and eat small portions. It will help me prepare for my fill. I am so thankful for a support system. I know this has got to help me do better.

You are NOT a failure. It is normal to gain a few pounds before your first fill. I did. The doctor was not upset with me. I even gained after my first fill because I needed to be filled more. I finally started losing after my fourth fill. It has been slow for me. I learned part of the reason I was not losing weight was because I was not eating enough. I only gained at the beginning, but after six months I didn't gain I maintained. After talking with my doctor and fitness center I learned I was not eating enough calories. So I increased my calories by about 100 - 200 and started losing. Yes, I was working out every day. I am a little off track right now because I have been out of town for a month. It is hard to eat when you are not cooking for yourself. I think if you stay hooked up with support it will help. I just found this page today and I am so thankful. My doctor is 3 hours away and there is not support here. I think this web page will be a great help to me. It will be for you also. Remember: YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!!!

New and needing Protein Shake HELP!!!
true2self replied to MeganMatters's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I got protein from our local fitness store. It has 23g and is very reasonable. It taste pretty good. I bought one at Wal-Mart that was to sweet. I didn't like it, but I am finishing it so it won't be wasted. -
thanks for sending me what you eat. I am glad for the guidance. I wanted to eat my meat, veg, and rice, but I didn't know if I could eat rice. I love rice and pasta, but I don't eat pasta. I also like stir fry. It is hard to determine how much meat I am getting in stir fry though. by the way, my log in has changed from danita to true2self. I was thinking about that when I was writing to you I realized it was time to be true to myself again. So I am hopefully going to be on track tomorrow and stay on track. I know that does not sound to positive, but the reality of it being a holiday weekend is already a challenge for me. I am ready for my fill on Monday. I know that will help motivate me.

Hi there. I make a couple of different flavors. Here are a few recipes. 3 Frozen strawberries 1/3 cup frozen berries 1/2 banana 1 scoop v. Protein drink 8 - 10 oz coffee 1 pkg sugar free hot coco 1 scoop v. Protein Drink 1/3 cup frozen peaches 3 - 4 large frozen strawberries 1 scoop v. protein drink You can also buy chocolate Protein Powder, but I usually purchase vanilla so I can make different flavors. -
Indigogirl, I just realized a problem I need to overcome. I have to many diet plans in my head that I really don't know where to start. I just wrote another person about the same thing. I know it means I need to get busy writing things down better so I will be true to myself. By the way, I have requested a new user name: true2self. I wanted to let you know so if I get to use it, you will know it's me. What is the simplest plan that I start with a menu? Do you have any suggestions?
-
Thank you. I just realized that I have not done as well as I should. My hardest part is that I need to write out a menu plan I think. I have not done that. I have so many diets in my head that I struggle as to what direction to start and then how to stick to it.

Can I save a post like this one that you sent me so I can help someone if I needed to?
-
Thank you!! let's see if this works now! It was a very helpful link

Thanks I will check it out. I'm also learning how to do this web chat. I just realized how far behind I feel. I thought I would have lost my 100 in a year, but my year is up. Yuck! That just confirms that I am not doing something right. I really need to take a look at what I am doing

I too had a delay last year when I started. I was suppose to have my surgery in May, but a family emergency delayed the surgery until July 6th. I was discouraged also until I realized that the time change must have been for a bigger reason than I knew. I know you are ready, but maybe this will help you to stay motivated. Remember the lap band alone isn't the answer, but is sure is a big help.
-
I just realized we are both lucky #7. Cool.

Thank you!! I had the surgery done so I could enjoy the second part of my life with also. I am 44 going to be 45 this fall. Feel free to send me people. It is a great help. How do you get the weight line to appear under your signature. I can't seem to figure it out. I am new to this. My first chat page.

Thank you for getting back with me. I know what you are saying to be true. The main place I am at is out of discipline. I have been doing very well until the last month. I know the lap band is not the fix alone, so I need to get my mind back in the game. That is my battle right now. I have a lot of changing going on and was out of town. Now I feel like I got lost somewhere and trying to find my way back to the right path. That is why I have been seeking for support or a support group. I am checking into starting a support group if the doctor's office says it is okay. I know when I am helping others it helps me to stay on track. Since I am in need of support, I checked out this web page. I saw you and decided to contact you. I like the fact that you use tough love. WHY? Because I actually like straight talk. I am a person that tends to see things black and white. Grace is hard for me. I am working on that with my eating and exercise, but I am hard on myself. That is why I am trying to kick myself in the rear to get motivated again.

Don't feel like a failure. I did gain a little weight from pre surgery until my first fill. My doctor said it was expect because I didn't have a fill yet. I still have weight lose, but I have done the slipping back into improper eating habits a few times. The thing to remember is that the Lap-Band will not fix your weight problem by itself. You will lose some just because of the lapband, but then you will stop losing the weight if you are depending on the lap band alone. Just realize that it is okay to be where you are. You might have gained a little weight. If it will help you gain control back, go back on your liquid diet for three days. That will help. Keep your chin up. Your journey has only just begun.

Hello, I am new to this support page. I had the lap-band surgery July 2007. I have not had the benefit of being involved in a support group, and I believe it would help. My doctor is Dr. Rachael Keilin. They are 3 hours away though and we do not have a support group close. I hope to get connected with people because I have gotten off track. I had to have three fills taken out due to drainage from allergies. I am scheduled for an appointment on Monday to get a fill, but since I am open I can eat more, hungry more, and I am eating whatever without being challenged. I am also discouraged because I can't seem to get things on the right track with exercise and eating right again. I hope this works for support. I have never done something like this before.
