  4. My doc has trouble finding my port everytime I get a fill. He has to stick me at least 4 times and has to dig around to find the port. I come out of the fills everytime bruised and hurting. I have been thinking of getting an X tatooed on my belly where he finally finds the entrance to the port. Anyone else having the same problem?:cursing::embaressed_smile:

    Is something stuck?

Thanks, I think if it still hurts by Monday I will call and get in ASAP. I too am taking calcium, so maybe I'll go to the drug store and get some liquid pepcid and try that also. Yea like I said, the liquid goes down, doesn't come back up just hurts when it hits the stomach like a spasm. I also tried the pineapple juice, so I think I am covering all the bases. Thanks Rondi

    Is something stuck?

I'm just wondering if there is something stuck, because everything seems to go down, it just hurts or spasms when it hits the stomach. Nothing is coming back up at all, everything is still going down.
  7. Yesterday I had some tuna for lunch and ever since, I have had pain after swallowing in my chest and back especially when I swallow liquids. It almost feels like it spasms. Does any of this sound like I could have got some of the tuna stuck? If so what do I do? I have gone to a clear liquid diet, but like I said it really hurts after I swallow, so I have just been sipping little little bits at a time. I also seem to have some gas with this now, which hurts when I burp. I am 1 mo. post op and haven't had a fill yet. I had been eating soft foods since week 2. Guess I'm not really sure what's going on, any ideas?
  8. After smoking for 38 yrs, I quit 5 mos ago in preperation for my upcoming surgery. All I can tell you is that in recovery when I was awaking, I was so scared, it felt like my chest was crushing, and I couldn't get my breath. My pulse oxygen was also down due to the restrictions in my lungs. It took about 5 days after the surgery before I could even take a deep breath. Besides, all the goop I was coughing up from my lungs. Please, Please, stop smoking ASAP before your surgery!!!

    Surgery on July 9th

I will be the first patient on 7-9-08. I'm getting everything ready to go today. I have to drive about 1 hr away, so am staying in a hotel with my friend. Great friend, she's an lpn and will be with me. We will stay at the hotel the 9th and then back to the hospital on the 10th for my swallowing study. Then it's back to home. My husband will be flying in from LA on the 10th for a few days to be with me. So many adjectives to pick from: excited, nervous, scared, happy, ready to start a new looking me. Wish me luck and I wish everyone else luck on their own journey.:tt1:
  12. Sorry to hear you are having trouble getting approved. I was approved the same day they recieved it. I am 55 yrs have hypertension and high cholesterol, and trouble with my joints. I am 5'6" and weigh 240 lbs. I did all my pre req's like getting my psyc eval, all my hospital tests, barium swallow, dietitcian, letters from my docs, including the cardiologist, and all my docs notes in regards to my weight. I also had to give them a complete list of all diets I had been on my entire life and results. It took about 6 weeks from the first time i went to my surgeons seminar. Tri Care, which I am in the west so it is TriWest approved it right away. My surg date is July 9. Good luck to you and if I can help you in any way, give me a shout. Rondi

Are there any low bmi's who talk often?

Hi I am about a 36 BMI and am getting banded on July 9th. I have about 100 lbs. to loose. I am hoping to find some people to chat with while we go through this together. Good luck and I will check back to see if we can get some more to hook up with us.
