New bf - to share or not about past WLS
It’sMe posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi all I am 3.5 years out from a gastric sleeve. I lost 75 pounds and am happy with how things have gone, and am grateful to have my sleeve as a tool for my health. I don’t have any major skin folds or lots of sagging besides what would be expected of a 40 year old mother. I have a boyfriend whom I have been seeing for 2 years now and I have never told him about my WLS. I never really intended to as I feel it is private and not something I really want to share. He loves my body (maybe more than I do), and is a great partner in many ways. He comes from a large family who eats gigantic food portions and he was always taught to clear his plate. He is constantly making comments about my food and how much or how little I may eat, how I don’t drink my water during dinner, or if I don’t finish my food and save it for later. It honestly drives me crazy and I have communicated this to him. Part of me wonders if he would better understand if I share about my WLS, but another part of me things he would be horrified and not understand at all. What do you think? Should I tell him? I don’t understand why other people have to focus so much on my plate. I honestly can eat normal portions of food if it’s the right food (veggies go down very easily, but things like rice or potatoes are quick fillers). Thanks for your advice. -

Hello all I am 16 days post op from gastric sleeve. I lost 10 pounds quickly the first 5 days after surgery and have been at the same weight for 11 days now. 😥 I have been following my program: meeting water goals, starting supplements when I was supposed to and following the food plan. I know that stalls are to be expected, but darn it if it isn’t frustrating! When will it end? I am putting it out into the universe that I want to bust through this wall! How long did your stall last and was it right after surgery for you as well? On the positive side: I am already off of 3 of my 4 blood pressure meds, feel good, and have been sleeping great. I’m trying to focus on these great healthy wins and not the numbers on the scale. Thanks to all for the support an insights offered on this site. I appreciate it greatly!

@Drinkwine28 and @Iluvbats I’m with you on it being HARD! I posted earlier because I was so excited I did it (surgery 6/21) and was feeling good. This is post op day 4 and now I’m feeling lots of things. 🙃 Still have pain from hernia repair (minor but annoying), weird bubbly tummy that sometimes feels like hunger growls - but isn’t, and feel gassy. I have major head games happening. My brain will not stop thinking about all sorts of junk food - even food that I didn’t really care about before (it’s like a junk food slide show in my head). I am on a liquid diet the first two weeks and can then introduce softer foods slowly. I’ve been having lots of water, Gatorade zero, protein drinks, and tried some broth. I’m fantasizing about those eggs and cottage cheese among other things! 🤤 I am keeping a journal and telling myself that I can’t give into my brain games the first 6 months. I think being able to chew will help in the future. It has to get better, right? We can do this!

I did it! Surgery was this week and it went well. I am on day two post op and feel ok. Not 100% but better than I was. Can’t believe it’s complete and now I’m excited for the next few months. Good luck to those having surgeries soon!

POSTPONED Again - 3rd Time A Charm? 🌈 Anyone Else Deal With Postponed Date?

You are so worthy of this and so much more. You are enough. You are important. You are deserving of so many good things. 💜 Even without the surgery you are worthy of all the good things. I’m sorry you are having delays. Keep going! You can do this! -

Hello - I’m scheduled for a gastric sleeve at Blossom Bariatrics later in June. I have done a lot of research and they have a lot of educational materials/videos that they have provided. However, I know I do not know everything, and am trying to prepare. What questions did you ask your surgeon pre-op? I’m making a list and would love to know what you found helpful to ask. Thanks!

Hi - Congratulations on your journey so far! You could also maybe try garage sales or estate sales? There are a lot of those this time of year where I live. Also, I’ve heard positive things about poshmark but have never used them myself. -
Wow! 10 pounds already. Great job!! Thanks for your encouragement. Sending some back your way, too!! Hope you continue to heal and feel good!

Good luck on your surgery! I’m nervous about the nausea. I do like all of the blossom videos though. I think those are helpful! I’ll be thinking of you!

Thanks so much! How are you feeling? I wish I could fly home the day they do my IV fluids mostly because I’ll just want to get home. But they said I need to stay that night. I’ll probably be glad of that when the time comes. I am going alone and using their companion care which also makes me nervous to have a stranger in my hotel room, but I’m sure it will be ok. I’m also trying to think about what to pack that still keeps me at one small bag. Did you lose a lot on the pre-op diet? I am at BMI 35 now and am not sure what I’ll lose in pre-op. I start that diet on Tuesday. Hope you are recovering well!

I am scheduled for 6/22 at Blossom. I am so grateful and also thankful for all of the advice that this forum has! Feeling nervous and excited.

Any one go to Blossom without a companion?

I wanted to bump this up to see if anyone else has experiences with Blossom’s companion care? Thanks -
New here - BMI 34.7 too small to seek surgery?
It’sMe posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello - I’m new here and am thankful for the great info on this site. I’m considering WLS and am wondering if my BMI is not high enough (heaven knows I don’t want it to get higher). I am 37, 5’2”, 190 pounds (BMI 34.7 so just below the 35 mark). I seem to put on about 5-10 pounds every few months. I have to take 4 medications to control my blood pressure, have pain in my feet, ankles and right knee. I think I actually waddle when I walk and that’s obscene. I just learned I also have high cholesterol and I snore really badly. I have been overweight and steadily gaining for about 10 years despite numerous diets, pills, subscriptions, memberships. I am tired of feeling bad in my own skin, and am embarrassed that I now cannot comfortably cross my legs, tie my shoes comfortably, take the stairs without being winded, etc. My weight is also now affecting my career as I have been told that leaders “look a certain way” and “have a certain physical presence.” I think these are coded statements about my weight. I also cannot participate in one of my favorite activities (horseback riding) because I am embarrassed about my weight and worried about being too big for my horse. I am motivated for a big change in my life, but also scared about post op meal planning and having to make my entire life revolve around food planning. I feel like for so long I have counted calories, carbs, macros, steps, activity with varied results, and all I want is to be free, healthy, and balanced in my body without thinking about food for every hour of every day. I am willing to pay out of pocket, and have reached out for a consultation locally. I guess I just wanted to say hello to this community and hear your stories if you have been in a similar place.
