Hello friends...I am concerned for my band and I havent posted anything on it yet so I am asking for you feedback. I've lost a total of 46 lbs and I've only been banded since dec 11th 2008. Last fill I was filled at 8cc. Now two questions? When i was first filled up to 5cc two weeks later my doctor pulled the saline out and said I was 3cc...how do you lose fluid like that? AND SECOND TOO MY MOST IMPORTANT. I have a 10 cc band and last time i checked i was at 8cc. now you would think my restriction would be amazing but its not. the first like two weeks i felt like i was tight and it was great. Now i feel like i can eat more then i should be for simply being banded. I'm eating way too much. The thing that concerns me is I NEVER GET SICK FROM EATING TOO MUCH OR TOO FAST. I get hungry faster then i feel like i should. I know that i shouldnt want to get sick but i feel like somethings not working right. I FEEL LIKE IM FAILING MY BAND. i havent been eating as well as i should...I know thats all my fault but the restriction and ability to eat ALOT and not get sick at 8cc scares me. esophageal stacking? I have a doctor appointment on 3/25 So im going on a liquid diet for two days before i see him to see if i can maybe shrink my appetite. Advice someone? im really worried. I dont know if i'm leaking or if im at fault for esophageal stacking.:frown:

esophageal stacking?
PardoBird replied to PardoBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thought i would do an update. I went to the doctor and he explained to me that my loss of restriction was because i was losing weight and the fat where my band is probably made it lose. Lol i feel lame for being a worry wort but i guess its better to be concerned then to think nothing of it. Lol thank you everyone for your responses...you guys held me over untill my doctor appointment. -

thats exactly what it is. I dont know if i did that but i'm concerned i did. :frown:( -
So i went to the doctor today to have another fill. this would be my 3rd. the first was 2 cc and the 2nd was 1cc. I was told I had 2cc to begin with so this was all a total of 5cc. WELL...the dr. weighted me and realized the weight loss wasnt where it should be so obviously i'm still eating too much. Mind you i've lost 36 pounds so far. lol. He looked at me and said "you know what...were going to try something different" So im thinking "oh NO maybe he'll take some out and see if it helps". He tells me "were going to get you a bottle of water and were going to slowly fill you while you drink the water and when you cant swallow anymore we'll take out a little bit and you'll be at your new fill amt. So i'm thinking WOW i didnt exspect that. He Locked the needle in and took out all the liquid in my band. he pulled a total of 3cc...doesnt make sense to me because i originally had 5cc but what do i know. Anyhoo...after he takes out the 3cc he starts to slowly fill it. I'm taking my swallows and then it i feel pressure so he takes a tiny bit out and pulls the needle out. IM AT 8cc now. holy moly thats a big differnece:eek:. Dont get me wrong i'm excited to see how this is going to effect me but wow...that was alot more then i thought i would get. so I go back in a month to see where my weight loss will be at. on a side note...my port is always hard to get to so now i have 5 needle marks from previous attempts. I love my doctor and I trust him so we'll see. Im on liquid diet for 2 days and very thin mushies untill monday. ::gasps:: :frown: wish me luck.

PardoBird replied to NiceWillSuffice's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
:thumbup:I have dr. Coon... I love him. Hes very friendly and my whole surgery process went smooth. Only complaint is sometimes the wait in the waiting room can be super long. Im not talking 15 min...more like 45-60 min. Its always worth it though. Let me know if you have any questions. -
Tricare Prime and Lap Band
PardoBird replied to connie45331's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have tricare and it was a pretty easy process for me. Be carefull though they have strict requirements. here is what they require. Is 100 pounds over ideal weight for height and bone structure and has one of these associated conditions: diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cholecystitis, narcolepsy, Pickwickian syndrome, hypothalamic disorders or severe arthritis of the weight-bearing joints Is 200 percent or more over ideal weight for height and bone structure Has had intestinal bypass or other surgery for obesity and because of complications, requires another surgery (takedown) Other then that I LOVED getting banded with my insurance ...its 100 percent covered :tongue2: -
Hello...I was banded on 12/11/08 and I have tri-care as well. I didnt have to pay anything. I recieved the paperwork from tri-care telling me what they covered...im sure you're familiar with the paperwork...i get paperwork from them after every doctor visit. Any hoo....they take care of it. CONGRATS ON YOUR APROVAL :cursing:

I know its hard right now but you'll be so happy when you get through this. I too am a HUGE sushi FAN!!! When I was on my liquid phase one of the things that helped me get through it was miso soup. I wasnt able to eat the things in it but I was able to drink the broth and that alone was satisfying for me. There is hope though....I just made it to my solid phase and I was able to eat a sushi. I got a roll that had a cucumber outside instead of the rice and inside it was tuna, crab and avacado. YOU CAN DO IT. Good luck friend. :scared2:

Im so estatic right now  So...today my husband and descided to go shopping at albertsons instead of waiting to shop on the base. We did partial shopping...EVERYTHING I wouldnt be able to buy on base we got tonight and tomorrow we would buy the rest on base. well.... we got little things here and there....cereal, coffee, tofu, sugar free drinks and a couple other things. THE GREATEST THING and expierence i've had since this whole surgery "new lifestyle" expierence was shopping in the organic isle. HOLY MOLEY....I got sugar free and fat free syrup, chocolate for milk, ketch up, blue cheese salad dressing and pancake mix. I also got some boca burgers, foe sausage and black bean burger patties. It was exspensive but i'm so satisfied. Tomorrow we have to get our veggies and meat but I think I've done good so far. Husband doesnt know it yet but our meals are going to be sOoOOoOo different lol . I've lost 30 lbs and we've descided that this week we start our work out sessions. My apartment in downtown has a 24/hour gym so monday through friday were going to work out and weekends we'll allow breaks. Nothings better then big life changes and quality time with the hubby

 So today I had my first fill. I was so scared that the whole process was going to be painfull but suprisingly it was not. My doctor used the numbing agent before he actually did the fill....THANK GOODNESS! :cursing: One Small pinch and I went from 2cc to 4cc. In two weeks i'll move up to 6cc. liquids today and mushies tomorrow and i'll be able to eat solids at my nieces birthday party. I'll start slow but i'm excited to be able to eat veggies and fish. FINALLY!!!!! So far i've lost about 24.5 pounds and hopefully the weight will continue to go. yay me.:tt1:[/url]>

Ok I know it sounds crazy but ever since I started using soy and whey protein I've been breaking out. Now growing up I never really had any problems with it. I'm breaking out now on my arms as well as the obvious, My face. This is Unusual for how my body normally is. Now I tried researching it and everybody who attempts to get the answer im looking for is always told its just body chemistry but i'm getting them on my forearms. Wierd? lol Since us bandsters use protein in everything i figured i could get my best answers here.

PardoBird replied to PardoBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it was a ridiculous question but thank you for responding. I figured someone else on this site might of had this happen to them. I'm going to have to try something to see if it stops. I heard that its possible that my body is detoxing? lol. -
Hello my Decemeber Bandsters ! I was banded on December 11th and Woah what a change. My christmas present was to eat mushies starting the 25th... and I can honestly tell you I was estatic. As wierd as it is I actually had a break down and cried...I was sooOOOoOOOo frustrated. Being in bandster hell around christmas is HORRIBLE. At first liquids were keeping me from being hungry which im sure was because my stomach was swollen from the surgery. once I hit the last days before mushies I started getting hungry alot faster and moody. Now it's easier because I stay full longer and I can eat a larger variety. Im on mushies untill the 21st and then I'll Finally have my 1st fill. My band is empty right now so I can eat a little less then before because my stomach shrank but thats about it. 20 lbs down so far. More to come....HOPEFULLY

Anyone with Dr. Coon - Riverside, Ca
PardoBird replied to mroseharvey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I got out of surgery and they had me in the recovery room I felt like a bus hit me....the gas was making my back hurt real bad. You're lucky...not only did you have less gas pain but they didn't keep you in as long. I was submitted into riverside parkview hospital and stayed overnight and released at 11 pm the next night. Im dying right now because this liquid diet is killing me. I'm hungry and I can't sleep for some reason. Im use to sleeping on my stomach so i think that might be it but goodness...im hoping it passes. -
Will my cold cause my surgery to be postponed?
PardoBird replied to molinomama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sound like me! I was scheduled for surgery on a Thursday and got a cold the Monday before. I was FEELING HORRIBLE and then it started to clear up. I Still had my cold the day before and checked with my dr. He said as long as I had no fever and little to no congestion I should be fine. They had me come into surgery anyways and while I was getting my IV they did my bloodwork to check my white blood count...as long as its low I'm sure you should be fine. I think Each doctor might be different but I hope you feel better and this all works out. -
Im happy your feeling good! :thumbs_up:When I got out of surgery and I was in recovery I felt like a bus hit me...my back was killing me. Found out the drugs were able to relieve that but 24 hours after I would not of been able to be on here. Good Luck you seem like your going to DO WONDERFUL :smile2:

Question about eating with new band :O)
PardoBird posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok to start I would like to say thank EVERYONE on this site because you all help me out so much. :smile2: Alright now for my question... I was banded on 12/11 and I seem to be healing and eating ok but I know when one is banded they expierence alot of gas discomfort and pain which I HAVE. Now I read that when you eat if you start burping it could be that you ate too much? I'm a little confused about that because I eat my suggested amount and I feel full but I do notice that I burp sometimes right after. Is there a reason or am I worried about nothing? -
Question about eating with new band :O)
PardoBird replied to PardoBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes...having liquids all day for two weeks is a HUGE CHANGE and not as easy as they make it seem when they tell you about it:thumbup:. Well thank you. I was worried and no one on my end at this time would be able to answer that. -
