    Information Vs. Support

Yep. It's much harder to lose weight if you insist on everything being sugar-coated.

    This surgery is bullshit...

It sure doesn't sound like you had realistic expectations of WLS, and I'm wondering how you were approved for it. Instead of cursing your surgery, though, how about investing in some bariatric therapy to help you develop some new attitudes and strategies that will make you happier as you do the hard work we all need to do to lose weight?

    Dehydration?

I'm green with envy. Venice is my favorite city in the world. Your condition sounds like dehydration to me, too. (That's mostly what jet lag is.) Hope you're feeling better now, so you can walk those romantic vias. Buon viaggio!

    Happy Thanksgiving 🍗

I'm still waiting for a surgery date. Had a green salad for dinner yesterday. (My sister and I don't celebrate Thanksgiving.) If there's pie on sale when we go grocery shopping this afternoon, we might get one. For those who celebrated yesterday, hope it was a safe and happy holiday for you.

    Comically small sandwich

It's so dainty! I hope 30 minutes later you took some tiny sips of tea.

    ITS REALLY HAPPENING!!!!!!

Congratulations! I'm still in the middle of setback after infuriating setback, so it's great to hear that someone is enjoying success. Let us know when you get the date, so we can celebrate with you!

    Is it Saturday? No… it’s TWOS-day!

    Woohoo! Tremendous accomplishment!
  10. Whenever my weight goes up by a couple of pounds, I find the way to get the scale moving in the right direction again is to drink more water and track it. Maybe that would work for you, too?

    no more dairy...ugh! Breakfast?

What about farina/Cream of Wheat? (Prepared with water or alt-milk, of course.)

    no more dairy...ugh! Breakfast?

Can't help on the yogurt, but one of my favorite grab-and-go breakfasts is hard-boiled eggs.

    3.5 years out!

Thanks, @ashsleeved21. I feel like I've been working toward this goal forever and not getting any closer to getting the surgery, so it's good to hear an encouraging word every so often.

What do you consider "Starting Weight"?

Since my surgeon's clinic doesn't use the two-week liver shrinking diet, giving patients a narrow range of weight loss in a specific time period instead, I count my starting weight as my first visit to their office.

    Food Before and After Photos

There are lots of them; search "nutrition apps."

    Phase/Week 3

Phase/Stage 3 is pureed foods (next step after full liquids), so no, your new stomach isn't ready for veggie pasta yet. The great thing about cravings is that they go away (usually within 20 minutes) whether or not you give in to them.

    Food Before and After Photos

I've been practically living on hard-boiled eggs (and egg whites) lately, because they're a cheap and easy protein source that work for lunch and snacks as well as breakfast. I just bought some mini muffin molds to experiment with making different flavors of egg bites -- I'm hoping I'll be getting my surgery soon, and I'd like to have a stockpile of them in the freezer.
  18. I'd not only keep it, I'd frame that puppy and hang it on the wall. Congrats!

    Mushy food phase

Plain Greek yogurt mixed with pumpkin puree and pumpkin pie spice. Or butternut squash puree with a dash of curry powder. (I really love squash.)

Online "support group" not very supportive

A lot of surgeons (of all stripes, not just bariatric) have God complexes, and a lot of patients want to follow a rigid set of rules to feel they're doing things "correctly." I'm in the my-body-my-choices group, myself. If someone can give me a reasonable explanation why they feel I shouldn't make a particular choice, I'll listen and then decide.

How do I slow my eating down?

Use infant flatware (baby spoon and fork). Chew each tiny spoonful 40 times before swallowing.

    Weight loss expectations?

Yes, plateaus/stalls are common, and only indicate a pause in weight loss, not the end of it. You just keep following your program and the weight will continue to come off eventually.
  23. The graphs are displayed in the free version, too -- on PC, click Reports/Net calories for the ones shown above.
  24. Reading this made ME feel really good, too. I'm so happy for you (and your special guy)!

Traveling cross country-5 weeks post op

What to eat wouldn't be my chief concern in this situation (there's always baby food and protein powder); staying hydrated and rested would. Remember to plan plenty of extra rest stops to pee and stretch. You didn't mention the children's ages, but hopefully they're big enough to carry everything you need (cooler, overnight bag, etc.).
