    Michigan Medicaid

Thank you for some kind of answer, and it helps me want to go on with this. I have had a very hard time finding anyone who had/has this medicaid and embarked on this journey. I did at least find out through the Cory Center here that they do require 12 month supervised diet. I started that today, but 12 months is a long ways away, so we'll see when we get there... Again, thank you very much. Joh
  3. I was wondering if anybody has/had medicaid in Michigan for the lap-band. What kind of problems (games) and headaches they put you through? I actually have what they call a spend down account which is like a co-pay every month that I use the insurance, but ANY info I can get on the medicaid will help. Oh and I already know that I have to have a 12 month supervised diet :faint: Thanks in advance, Joh

    Best in Michigan???

I heard about that Dr. Bhesiana and the other doctor there. I was also going to go with them as it is the closest for me and I heard very good things about them. Also a friend of mine had hers done by the other doctor there and she just raves about him. Hope this helps! Joh Forgot to add that I cant go there because those doctors dont take medicaid.
  5. I have been doing research for well over 4 months now, and I'm still going! On top of that I wont be able to have my surgery for another year! So I will just keep plugging away till my turn is here, and then back at it after!! Joh

    Why are YOU Fat?

I am fat because I eat too much, especially at night. Sometimes it out of bordom or when I am sad. I had been at least 75 lbs over weight since I had my first child in 1990. Then I lost some weight in 2000 working at a motel cleaning rooms and lost about 35-40 lbs. I was actually looking pretty good. Then my husband died in 2001. Well I guess I dont need to say more about what happened after that. Now I am 110 lbs over weight. So thats my story, short and sweet. Joh

  8. New here but not new to the information. I have been looking into the lap-band surgery now for well over 4 months. I have a BMI of 39.3 and no co-morbities that I know of as of yet, well cept the knee pain I get when going up and down the stairs more than usual. So far that I know about my insurance is that I will have to have a 12 month supervised diet. I felt totally let down when I heard this and was going to just forget about the whole thing. And of course I gained a few more pounds since then (comfort eating). Then I thought, what is 12 months?? And then sometimes I think 12 months is going to take forever to get here, but too bad, I gotta do this! So on March 8th I got see my PCP to get the ball rolling. No one said I have to actually follow the diet right?!?! :lalala: So here's to getting my Lap-Band next year!! Joh
