i am staying on plan today because ...

I'm a yoyo dieter. I've lost 100 pds three times in my life and got down to goal each time which is 125 (weight watchers, atkins and phen fen-which I got a heart problem from). I can stay on track until some bad happens in my life then I don't care anymore and I gain all the weight back. I'm wondering if they will happen with the lap band. Will I get to a point where I don't care anymore and just eat high calorie foods? Does this band ONLY help with portion control? Donuts, cookies and cakes take up very little room but are so calorie packed. Once I can get that question answered I'm going to make the lap band decision. I would LOVE for anyone and everyone to help shed some light on that for me. thanks so much!:confused2:

Is it easier to stay "on Plan" with the lapband than without the lapband? I'm new here and was wondering if I'm going to struggle anyways what's the point?
  3. How will I know if I can stick to the food program and not eat "around" the band. In the past I've never been able to stay on a healthy eating program for any length of time without "cheating" and falling off the wagon. It seems every diet I go on when something goes wrong in my life I just don't care anymore and I go off the diet eating cakes, cookies, ice cream whatever. I worry about highly densed caloric foods that take up very little space but are packed with carbs and cals. i.e... ice cream. I have a bad sweet tooth too. Could that also be a problem? I'm trying not to be negiative but I know the best predictor of future behavoir is past behavoir.

    Excited, Scared and Confused

I am considering LB surgery. I have been a yoyo dieter all my life. I have never been able to follow a good healthy food plan for any length of time (maybe 3 months at the most). My question to myself and you guys is this, "What makes me think I will be sucessful at following a food plan once I have the lapband?" Is there a "personality type" that's doomed for failure? I'm somewhat of a rebel.
