Stall - revision sleeve to bypass
ocdennise posted a topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a sleeve revision to bypass in mid April. Weight was coming off and I could feel restriction although very different from sleeve. Fast forward to now (4 mos) and I’ve been stalled for a month & restriction seems nonexistent. I am aware restriction goes away after a period of time but did not expect this fast. Anyone gone through the same & can offer tips? Thanks -
I was sleeved 9 yrs ago & lost about 90 pounds, but was not able to get to my goal I exercised diligently, ate right, & kept active. I gained back about 20% per the statistics. However, colon cancer came knocking & with chemo, inactivity & 7 mos of steroids, I gained all my weight back. I am scheduled for revision to bypass on April 14th. I know the surgery is a tool which will allow me to lose a lot of weight quickly, but after the honeymoon phase, I am wondering what tools/skills I have to change my behavioral & mental habits to make lifelong change & success. Looking for advice from others who have has long time success.

I have been using my timer on my phone each time I sit down to eat. It has really helped me so far & will hopefully be a nee habit

April 2022 Surgery Buddies
ocdennise replied to Crinkles's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m day 1 after surgery revision to gastric bypass. I was much less sore this time & been walking and siping my H20 & broth soup no problem. My surgeon already came by & they are discharging me! yay! Walking is key- gets everything moving, burps, gas, air, etc. I’ll start taking a stool softener later today just as a precaution. Good luck to you. Hope you feel better -

I’m scheduled 4/14 for revision from sleeve to bypass. Much more nervous about this surgery than sleeve I had in 2013. -
Sleeve to Gastric Bypass-cancer survivor

I was sleeved Oct 2013 & lost 90lbs (gained back 20 lbs) but never got to goal weight or close. I really committed to changing my lifestyle; exercising (running & weight lifting) & used myfitness pal to log food. I felt great & looked great. Then, life unraveled. In 2016 found out my husband of 20yrs was cheating on me, I realized he was an alcoholic & we divorced, I was laid off from my job & then diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. My kids were 10 & 12 at the time & I had no family to help me (both parents deceased & brother lives 3hrs away by plane). I went through 9hr surgery to remove a foot of my colon & then 7 mos of chemo & steroids. I put on 60lbs during chemo & have not been able to lose it. I had a bad fall after last chemo treatment from neuropathy in feet. I have so much pain in my knees I can’t run. Don’t know if all due to excess weight, arthritis (I’m 54), chemo, menopause? I finished my ins requirements for a revision & scheduling revision to bypass is next. But, I am so hard on myself & questioning if it will work and if I shouldn’t be messing with my body especially surviving cancer? I have regained all my weight &depressed. I hate the way I look & struggle with trying to be happy I am alive after cancer. I have heard weight loss is slower after revision. Is that always the case? Anyone else have cancer after wls & regained and had revision? I feel lost. I miss the adrenaline I used to get from working out.
