I am planning to use short term disability. One girl at my job had it and she was off two weeks. I am hoping to have to be off only a week. -
Shhh...Keep it in the Closet!?
southerngirl24 replied to aprilapple's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Right now I am not telling anyone except my husband. And I swore him to keep it quiet. I am not wanting to hear eveyone's two cents on the matter. When I am ready I will tell those who need to know. Mine reason is not about culture, it is just privacy. I have always been "thick" and I just want to be healthy again. -

My name is Lakeisha and I am 33. Born and Raised in Houston Texas. Married for 8 years. Five children ( two of my own and three from my husband's prior marriage) I work for a major retail electric company. I am sick of struggling with my weight and I have been doing that for over 18 years. I am waiting for insurance approval and hope to have a date set for August before my birthday on the 24th. -

I find that very odd. Ask for a detalied written explantion of what the fee covers. I only have to pay my co-pays to be responsible for. -

How Cranky did you become.....
southerngirl24 replied to Jillbeme65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am wondering myself of how that will be. My DH has already told me that he may send the kids to my in-laws. If I have not eaten I usually turn into the biggest Bi#&*h. I have learned to control it but, I know this is going to rough the first few days. -

I hope it goes well! -
I would ask your doc and see what they recommend. I was on Depo for 2 years and when I took my last shot it took almost two years for me to get pregnant with my son. My doc said the longer you have been on it, the longer it takes to get out of your system.

I went in on the 3rd for the diagnostic evaluation and had my blood work done, the ekg and i submitted my five year weight history completed on this wendesday. They said we were shooting for a 8/1 date. My concern now is that I may not have time to do the liquid diet. I think I should get started just in case. -

5 Year Weight History
southerngirl24 replied to Tracyde730's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I heard from my OB's office today and they will not have my chart until Monday. So I am thinking I need to get to work on a letter to explain my lapse and also detail my history myself to go along with the remainder of the records when I get them. Is there a way it should be written? -
5 Year Weight History
southerngirl24 replied to Tracyde730's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have UHC and I have been asked for one also. I am having a very tough time getting it together. I was under one doc's care from 2000-2001 and I have gotten those records and she only documented my weight two times in a year of visits! After that I have my OB's records which will show my highest of 320 during preganancy. But after that I had no insurance so I was not seen by a doc until spring of 2007 ( but I was never sick either) So I do not know how to explain the lapse. -

So today is my individual diagnostic...
southerngirl24 replied to southerngirl24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it went very well today. The took my labs and did the EKG. I met with the nurse. Everyone kept telling me how great my insurance was ( United Healthcare) She said that my BMI is higher than I thought. It is 45.6:frown: But of course it is high enough for that to be one of my only requirements. I have to get her my 5 year weight history on Monday and they will for the labs and everything should be submitted by next week. She said that with United that most approvals can take 1-2 weeks if you stay calling them everyday. So if all goes well I have a tenative date of 8-1. I am in the process of getting my weight history together and hopefully it goes smooth. -

So I called United Healthcare today to verify if the procedure was covered. There were not many hoops they required but the said my BMI needed to be either 40 or above and that I had to be employed for 2 years to have been approved.:confused2::confused2: What does that have to do with anything? Has anyone heard of this? -

Dr. Hollis is my Dr. I heard that he is one of the best and I am hopin so. After Thursday I guess I will know better how quick it may move. I notice that for others here that it seemed to move very fast. Is there a difference that I am missing?
