I am planning to use short term disablity to cover my time from work. I have never had to use and I am waiting to get a packet from my HR department . How does the short term work? Can anyone let me know what their experience has been? Thanks!

Funny thing is that I have no desire to eat anyway, so regular food is not even a temptaion right now.

I have been sick since Saturday with what I thought was a flu but I think it is my body going through a withdrawel from the sugar, bread, etc. I have been on liquid since Saturday straight. No solid food, not even fruit. So I have been exsisting on water and diet sprite to calm my tummy. Everything seems to make me nauseated. I hope this will pass soon.

This was a great reference for me. I am a visual person, so to be able to see what the process was helped me a lot! -
I thought it was just me. I created a new one and the same thing happened. When I click to go to my page to update my weight, it just takes me to a page where I can see the ticker.:thumbup:

Yep, Way to go girl!

I should be scheduled for pre-op this week, but yesterday I came down with a flu:frown: Does anyone know if they will postpone the pre-op for this reason? Thanks!

I am glad you are feeling okay, remember to take it easy. -
I had to get my records from my PCP and my OB/GYN. I went in on 7/3 for the diagnostic and they did bloodwork, ekg, etc. I was submitted to insurace on 7/11 and got approval on 7/21. I have a tenative date of 8/1 scheduled but I do not think we will make it as I still have not done my pre-op tests. But good luck to you!:crying:

Thanks! My doc's office will not schedule without having recieved the letter. I am going to wait and call on Monday and see if they have gotten it. If not I am going to act a professional foool, to have someone get something done! LOL!

I was approved on 7/21 and I am now waiting for my date for surgery. The doc's office will not schedule me until they have the letter from UHC:frown: So more waiting but at least I am approved.:frown:

I have UHC and my BMI was 43 with no co-morbids. I did not have to do a six month diet. I was approved in about 10 days after submitting a 5 year history.

Things can get a little rough sometimes in the bedroom and I wondered if there were things I should avoid so that it does not put my port in danger.:embaressed_smile: Even witgh my weight having increased, I have remined pretty limber ( cough) well dh and I are both worried that things may not be as fun as they were before. Thanks.

Emotional Eating
southerngirl24 replied to southerngirl24's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am the first to tell people if you need to get therapy, please go. I got over that hump a long time ago. I saw one last years to help me through some things and I found it very helpful. I had been thinking that I would start to see her again now and after the surgery to help make sure that I do not mess this up. The therapist I see is a very strong, intelligent sista and I was very happy with her approach. -
I just got off the phone with the insurance company and they did approve me today. Now I have to wait until I get the letter and wait to be scheduled. I talked to the doc's office and they will be scheduling me for pre-op as soon as they get the approval letter. But we are shooting for 8/1:eek::eek::frown::crying: Guess I better get started on my pre-op diet.....

Hi there! Congrats on being banded and your weight loss. Nope can't see you picture either

I got approved!!!
southerngirl24 replied to southerngirl24's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I did find out that the date of 7/30 is just the date the doc's office will give the insurance company so for now we are waiting for the doc's office to get their copy of the letter or if I get mine first I can fax it in so I can get the actual date. I already started my pre-op diet so I am ready. -
It's on like popcorn!

UHC, ~57 BMI, lack of weight loss history?
southerngirl24 replied to ByeByeBonBon's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have UHC Choice and I was approved in about two weeks. I used records from my PCP and also my OB GYN. I had two years with no history except my OB GYN so I also wrote a letter to detail what plans I attempted. They also used the information from my intake forms and history. -
Nope. What is it?

Shhh...Keep it in the Closet!?

I am telling anyone but my husbad. I just do not want to have to hear the replies I know I will get. My mom does not want me to do it and told me last year that I was crazy to consider it. My mom is RN and she kept telling me all the risks that she knew of. My brother and dad do not thing I need it. But these are all folks who are smaller and have been for years. This is out of character for me not to tell anyone but it is such a personal journey I do not want to moved from my choice. -
My name is Lakeisha and I am 33. I am currently awaiting approval from my insurance and I am looking for a mentor here in Houston. I am not telling many folks what I have decided to go through becuase I have heard too many negative things. My husband and one of my daughters are the only ones that I have deicided to tell. I have been married eight years and mom to five ( two of my own and three wonderful girls from husband's first marriage) I love to read, cooking for my friends, and spending lots of time with family. I have tried all of the diets and weight loss things out there. ( atkins, weight watchers, etc) I am looking at the band as a tool, knowing I still have to do my part. :tt1:
