Anyone trying this without ANY fills?
bandolina posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said only 20% of his patients reach their goal weight w/out any fills. I met one in his waiting room and was genuinely impressed. I was only banded a month ago (7/16) and I'm down 20 lbs - w/out any fill. I have a 10cc band that was put in w/ 2cc already in there. (I think that's right.......) I'm happy with the 20 lbs, but wonder if anyone has thoughts about the no-fill theory. I'm not afraid of the "pain" of the actual fill, I'm worried about how long it'll take to find the sweet spot. Also, I like knowing that I can eat pretty much any food w/out worrying about it getting stuck or PBing, as long as I chew the $#@! out of it. It definitely takes more self-control, but I'm thinking about trying it. All I can do is try - right? :confused2: Any thoughts out there? -

I like the necktie analogy - and it makes sense that the band would change as my body gets smaller. We'll see how long this will-power holds out, but I think you're right about hitting a plateau and getting frustrated. Thanks so much for your viewpoints! -
I think it depends on how much of the prescribed pain medication you're taking. I was banded 5 days ago, and I drove for the first time yesterday (5 miles round trip). I decided I was ready because I was only taking the Vicotin (sp?) at night and Motrin during the day to manage the slight pain.

Bella, I think those symptoms will go away for you. I'm definitely having a hard time remembering to sip slowly and not just guzzle the liquids down. I know right away when I do it too quickly, and I get those feelings you have. New habits that will just have to be practiced/repeated to really sink in. Congrats on your incredible weight loss so far! That's awesome! It will all be worth it for us- I'M CONVINCED! -

I am inspired by your excitement - congrats! I was banded 5 days ago and am thrilled that my scale shows 10 lbs lost. I see it in my face - as do others. I am starting to get a little too creative w/ the liquid diet thing - convincing myself that anything that fits through a straw is considered liquid. I'm thinking of liquifying a Big Mac meal. JUST KIDDING.....gross. But, I have thoroughly enjoyed blending many of the different soups I find at salad bars. I'm looking forward to the mushy-food stage - but hope the pounds will continue to drop. Good luck, everyone! -
Quick question for everybody

I had my surgery this morning - and I am surprised by the tightness, too. It feels like it's in the ribcage and around to my mid-back. I keep walking in short spurts, and drink small sips of broth or water. Any advice for other things that have worked for gas pressure? Gas X? I also can't believe how badly I just want to lay down....
