    Getting back on track?

Oh and about the type of protein I use EAS AvantEdge carb controlled 110 cals 17 grams of protein I buy them from Walmart 4 for $5, or when I just need to boost my protein count and use whey protein shots 110 cals 26 grams of protein also from Walmart 6 for $9. My doctor is fanatical about the amount of protein I intake. So I try hard to get at least 60 grams per day, he said 80-100 but I think he was a little ticked with me that day because I said I wasn't doing any protein. However, now I try to get at least 60-80 grams a day. Next sometimes you need to give your band a break so I will do a liquid diet for a day or two then do purée for a day or two and believe it or not you will start feeling better and see a difference in your food intake after that, I think that will help your band adjust to doing what it is suppose to do. If you stop eating slider foods you will be amazed in how quickly you will notice weight lost. I also remind myself that the band is a tool and to get the best out of any tool you have to use it the way it was intended to be used. I also think it is important to know the status of your band for instance I was banded 7/08 I now have 8cc's in an 10cc band starting weight 239lbs current 153lbs goal 145lbs, we don't want to be in denial, to get where we are going we have to look at our selves with determination and head straight down the path, yeah we are going to stumble and deviate from the the path but we want to keep it in site so we can get back on the path and know where we are going. Okay I'll shut up now, tomorrow I'll be in here crying (lol). Just remember cheat the band, you only end up cheating yourself. Keep up the hard work everyone.

    Getting back on track?

Hey guys, I try little tricks not to eat like not watching tv and doing activities using my hands like reading a book because I have to hold it and I find it difficult to eat and read or crocheting. These are activities I enjoy so I do them to keep my hands busy and mind occupied with something other than food even though these are sedentary activities a least I'm not eating.

    Getting back on track?

Hey mscpotts, don't get down on yourself. Just mark this as a new beginning and start over again from day one. What was is just that in the past, I know how you feel. This is from a person that lost 100 lbs pre-band and put it all back on. So my suggestion is not to worry about where you've been but where you're going. Start by consuming the proper amount of protein, drinking 60-100 grams of protein per day. When I drink the proper amount of protein shakes each day I tend to eat less because it takes a lot of effort to drink that amount of protein. Start back with not eating and drinking within 45 minutes. Go online and research the lap band diet and start following it as best you can, make an appointment with your physician and nutritionist. You can do this, it's not easy but what worth having is you know that you're about to graduate (I'm sure that wasn't easy). I'm rooting for you. :-)

    Getting back on track?

Hey guys, Slimsly here not raising any hell, but maintaining my weight. I would like to say I was doing better but I'm just holding on. I did get a fill and I'm at 8cc's in a 10cc band, I can't eat a lot of things but as you all know we can find away around it, if we put our minds to it. I which I could put that much effort into exercising. I hate to exercise and since I've been home on sick leave I have just been sitting around doing nothing. I will be going back to work soon and I will not have as much time to sit around and figure out how to manipulate my band. I only want to lose 10 more pounds but that's a hard 10 when you are not motivated. Okay guys I'm just ranting, I have no one to blame here but myself, so I just need to woman up and do what I know I should be doing, but it's hard home everyday.

    Not a Success Story

Hi Denise62, I'm sorry to hear you are having health problems related to your band, I hope you get that worked out. It took me a while to start losing weight at first. I had to keep working at it the entire time I lost 1 to 3lbs a week, I kept it up until I reached my current weight 156lbs. I want to lose more but I'm recovering from rotator cuff repair and haven't had the willpower to do what I need to do, like exercise and stay away from slider foods because I'm really tight so I can't eat a lot but I eat snacks that go down easy, fortunately I'm so tight I can't eat food and junk so I'm maintaining (being home all day is making hard since I'm bored, I need to get back to work). I hope everything goes well keep in touch and let me know how things workout. I'll be keeping good thoughts for you.

    Getting back on track?

Hello everyone, I went to see my Doc today and was given 1cc which now put me at 8 cc, it is my true intention to use this fill to get me back on track. It was easier than I expected to get my fill because he had a meeting to go to and they forgot to call me and take me off the schedule so being the nice doctor he is he gave me a fill even though it was causing him to run late for his meeting. LOL:-) I know that was a long run on and on sentence, just trying to get this out quickly. Now I'm not going to make anymore excuses I'm really going to give it an honest try. I went to walmart and brought protein shakes and protein shots 26 grams of protein, add a little ice and water, it's like having a glass of fruit punch drink. Goodluck everyone I'll get back with you to let you know how this 8cc's is working out once I can eat solid food, unknown liquids day of fill, purée the day after, so solids will be on Saturday.

    Getting back on track?

Hey guys, I'm glad I stumbled Into this forum, I have been beating myself up because I have been going up and down for o e year. I was banded on 7/23/08 starting weight 239 current weight 160. My goal weight is 145, I close once but I was sick at the time. I had to get an unfill before I started getting better. I was at 7cc's unfilled to 4cc's, I'm back to 7cc's but I have no restriction I can eat anything and I do. I have an appointment on Thursday for a fill, I'm going to have to convince my doc to give it to me because when I was at 8 I was so tight I couldn't keep anything down. I'm getting a little discouraged because I'm at the same place I was last year this time. I eat just to be eating and I don't know how to get a handle on it, so I'm hoping that if I get a fill it will slow me down and help me get back on track. Being home after a rotator cuff repair is not making it any easier but I can now drive and I went for a 30 minute walk today it was painful my shoulder ached badly after but I'm going to keep trying. Okay I'm rambling now because this is the only place I can get all this off my chest because my family think I'm crazy because I've lost weight but you all understand it's not good enough just to lose some weight you want to get to your goal after all you have done to try and get there. Okay I'm on board keep in touch.

    No restriction

Hello TrravelinTurnip, I have no restriction, not even if I eat fast or take a large bite. However, I don't get really hungry after eating, I can go about 4 hours between meals before I really need to eat but I'm just really off track right now. I'm home all day recovering from rotator cuff repair, so I'm kinda bored sitting home unable to do much. I find myself eating just out of boredom. If my band was a little tighter I would be able to eat a little less that would help me. I had an 8cc fill by accident last summer and had to get an unfill, currently I have 7cc but I'm not sure if he going to be willing to me back to 8cc, I can only hope he's willing to give it a try. Talk to your Doc and see if he's willing to give u a fill, keep trying until you get the restriction you need.

    No restriction

I go to the Bariactric Center at Providence Hospital Dr. Marc Rickford he is an excellent surgeon and very personable physician a bit conservative with fills but I think that's just his way of looking out for the best interest of his patients. I understand about how hard it is to keep focus without restriction that's why we got the band in the first place to help us stay on track, if I could have done it on my own there wouldn't have been a need for the surgery. Sometime I think my Doc forget that when I'm begging for a fill.
  13. SLIM SLY

    No restriction

Hi, okay I had surgery 7/23/08, I have lost 80lbs but I have another 15lbs I'm at 7ccs and plan to see my doc on 5/27 hopefully he will give me another fill. I was at 8cc's and had to get an unfill. So I hope he will give me a fill now because I have no restriction, I have sort of lost my way so I need the help to get back on track.
  14. Hi, I have care first bluechoice. I was banded by Dr. Marc Rickford at Providence hospital in Washington, DC. He is a excellent surgeon and a very personable physician He makes you feel very comfortable, however, he is conservative with fills but I think he's looking out for patient best interest.

who knew it would be this hard

I totally understand how you feel. My goal weight was 145, I got down to 147 but got sick and need an unfill, i'm at 5cc in a 10cc band. I have no restriction I can eat anything and alot of it. I have gained 14lbs and I'm devastated my doctor will not give me a fill he feels like I should do it on my own that I'm not hungry so I don't need a fill. However, i'm not hungry but i'm overeatting badly and can't seem to control it my clothes are fitting tight and i'm becoming very discouraged. I'm even thinking about finding a new fill doctor.
