Hi I am 3 months post op, and I have lost 36lbs. I started at 245. I’ve been feeling discouraged with the weight loss after I had one month stall, but it’s started coming off again. I run 30 Min four to five times a week. I eat 1000 calories daily. Protein intake is 70-80 grams daily. I hope things work out for us ladies and maybe it’s just a waiting game now :) we didn’t put the weight on over night :)

Postop puréed diet ideas?
StartingMYjourney2021 replied to Michele 2021's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lentils or Dal are super great for protein. You can mix anything with it and it makes a great meal. I throw taco seasoning in lol, or cook it in a traditional Indian recipe. It’s so tasty -
I’m happy you said this. I had my surgery three weeks ago. I dabbed daily for years and quit two weeks prior to surgery. I’ve been wondering when I could start again. Thanks for the info, I’m gonna give it ago.

Cucumbers and lemon. Lol 😝 I thought this video would be neat to share if you are hungry. These snacks are low in calories compared to other food choices. Strawberries are great idea too. i hope this helps. Best of luck!

Favorite high protein recipes
StartingMYjourney2021 replied to HealthierMe79's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
My favorite high protein meals are Dal/Lentils or black eyed peas. I don’t make Dal the traditional Indian way but you can easily cook it in a instapot or crockpot, add some onion, tomatoes, garlic powder, salt and pepper, chili powder, or any of your favorite seasoning. Dal aka lentils are super awesome for high protein and taste sooo good! -
I like pumpkin purée, mashed potatoes, ricotta bake, lentils/dal, beans. I cook the beans and eat them without purée since they get super soft in my instapot. Also cooking carrots in the instapot and not purée but smashing it with your tongue is super awesome. The carrots get super mushy too. I make chicken and gnocchi but just have the juice and carrots. It’s flavorful. I used cauliflower and made a cheese mash but it wasn’t my favorite. Hope this helps.

Am I eating too much?
StartingMYjourney2021 replied to Terrorbear's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi there, My doctor said that you may be able to eat more but you shouldn’t because your nerves endings have just been cut and are healing so your stomach isn’t able to tell you how full you are. You could cause unknown damage because you simply can’t feel the pain and think you can eat more. He told me after about two months I would be able to tell the difference but early on it’s risky. Also water is more important than food early on, if you become dehydrated your body can have longer weight loss stalls because it is unable to produce more glycogen or something with a G. (Sorry just repeating what my doc said a few days ago to me). I’m two and a half weeks post op. Hope this helps! -
Trouble standing up straight

Thanks for the info. Yes I am currently recovering in India. I am waiting to be cleared to go back to Ohio. I have a apartment out here in Hyderabad. Covid isn’t as bad as in Delhi. My dietician wants me drinking blending fruit smoothies, eating lentils and beans, but no bananas or mangos, which I find odd. The protein shakes were recommended four times a day but In all honesty I can’t stand the protein shakes every time I drink one I become sick. I’ve tried four different brands and no avail. I hope I don’t shoot myself in the foot by not taking enough protein shakes. They are just soooooo nasty. 🤢 -

I’m so happy to hear you’re doing well. Today I’m 10 days post op and I’m fine. I’m walking and climbing on to my extremely tall bed lol. It was horrible in the beginning but I think it helped me relax the incisions/stitch tightness. If I laugh or sneeze then I have a bit of pain but I just place a pillow across my tummy. 😋. I don’t know many people who had surgery around our time, I was wondering how is your diet going? Are you on full liquids? I don’t think my dietician is very good... I had my surgery done in India so the foods recommended are all Indian cuisine haha. Could ya share a bit about your food diet please ? thanks so much -

Trouble standing up straight
StartingMYjourney2021 replied to dennydenco's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, I just had my surgery April 26th. I faced the same issue up until a day or two ago. So day 5/6 post surgery walking up right came.. Just walk around and rest when you need. Don’t force yourself by any means it will come back naturally. I was in the hospital for two days and hardly walked because I was not a lucky one who had no pain. The pain was awful for me. I’d try some gentle stretches you can do with your arms. Like rolling your shoulders back while you sit up right. That helped me. I felt like a 70 year old lady walking around with my curved back and I’m 29 😂😅🤣😄. I hope you’ll be able to walk up right soon. Good luck!🍀👍
