    Honey were killing the kids

I thought some of it was really good. I could not believe how much junk those kids were eating, but the pictures looked way horrible. The fat pictures nobody was smilling, then the skin 40 year pics all big smiles. I am sure I will watch it again, mainly because I have kids that I think eat too much junk, and don't get active enough. jason

    Protein Shakes

I mix skim milk, Protein powder, frozen fruit, some ice cubes, and a scoop of yogurt into a Protein Drink for the wife. They are very good!! We use EAS protein from GNC or the Vitamin store.
  6. Thanks everyone for the advice. I have been trying to tell her these things but I can tell she is very frustrated. I think she feels like she is trying sooooo hard yet she is gaining these pounds. As far as eating solid foods, she really eats only 1 (what I would call a) meal a day. Usually Breakfast and lunch is fruit, maybe 1 egg, very small oatmeal, yogurt, or one of those yogurt drinks, dinner has been tuna, shrimp, baked chicken, or sometype of grilled fish, then usually sometimes after dinner I make her a protien shake. I know she has been keeping track of her calorie intake but I do not know off the top of my head what it is. THANKS Jason
  7. My wonderful wife was banded Feb 17, 06. She is right at three weeks post-op. The first two weeks she lost 27 pounds she was sooo excited, but during this 3rd week she has put 3 pounds back on. She is eating what I would consider very good, grilled fish, protien shakes, tuna, Water etc..no breads, no red meat, no cokes, nothing fried. She has been going to the gym and walking about 3 times a week for 30-45 min. So is this normal and what can I tell her to reasure her everything is going to be ok? Thanks Jason

    Decent tasting protien Idrinks

If you have time and a blender you can make your own. I make a couple a day for my dear wife that was banded two weeks ago. We buy Protein powder (vanilla or chocolate) in big tub at walmart. Mix the protein, with milk, vanilla yogurt, a couple of ice cube, with some fruit (frozen or fresh) for flavor. Strawberrys and bannanas are awesome together. You can mix and match the Protein Powder flavors with different fruit flavors to have way more variety than you could buy in a store. I use to make them for myself for after workouts. I have used natural Peanut Butter, and cooked oatmeal (to make them more filling) in the shakes in the past. We figured up that a shake serving should have around 15-20 grams of protein plus Calcium and stuff from the milk and yogurt. Jason

    Eating vicariously through DH.........

I hate eating in front of my wife. I feel so guilty eating in front of her. I have cut back on my eating so much since her surgery, I have lost some poundage myself. So I my guiltyness is a good thing. Jason

    Drinking with meals?

My wife was banded 2 weeks ago, she is doing great!!! I was reading the "Weight loss succes factors - our own study" post today, and I was wondering about the drinking with meals issue. It seems like we have heard not to drink with meals but never really heard of a reason not to. So why or why not drink with meals? I have 3 very recent bansters I am taking care of / watching over so any comments suggestions evidence for or against drinking with meals or not is greatly appreciated. I had always heard it was good to drink before a meal so you would feel full faster. That way you would be full of Water and food not just food. I guess this does not really apply when talking about the band. Thanks Jason

    What do husbands think

I have been lurking for a few months reading up for my wifes band. I figured I would go ahead and post to this topic. We have talked about banding several times in the past, I have always been very supportive but she changed her mind for whatever reason. Back in January she decided to have it done, and sure enough Feb 17 we went to Mexico (with her mom and dad both of them got banded also) and she got her band. Of course we were both worried about the risks that come with any type of surgery, but the risk of being over weight are very real also. I have been sooo proud of her the past few weeks. She has been very serious about her foods. I alway check on her making sure she has proper food at her work, making her smoothies, checking to see that she feels good, and such. She has begun to go to the gym and do some mild cardio and is planning on starting with some weights in the next few weeks. I tell her daily that she looks great (of course I told her she looked great everyday before surgery) and, I can tell she is loosing. We cleaned out her closet, I can't wait to take her shopping!!!!!! PS. She has lost 25 pounds so far!!!:clap2:
