I’m on day 16 post-op and I still feel dizzy and nauseated. I did a search and found these comments. I’m glad to see it’s not abnormal. I hadn’t thought about blood sugar levels dropping. I’ll have to check my blood when I get home. I have been monitoring my protein, calorie, and water intake and that’s all good. My big question is: when does it end?? I have to return to work on Monday! It’s a lot of sitting but I also make home visits. AND it just doesn’t feel good!

I noticed that my face is one color. No differentiation. It’s weird. But I’m glad it seems to be common.

Oh, man. So sorry you’re still in pain. I had a persistent pain on my left side just below my rib cage running dow almost to my hip. It hurt to breathe. It is still there slightly, but overall feeling better. Take it day by day. Is the pain improving at all? If not, I would speak with the dr again.

Wow! I had mine on 4/23 (bypass). I’m getting control over getting enough protein and fluids but my drs are still on this program schedule. I haven’t had any problems past my first night. However, I feel good and wanted real food so I skipped to eating soft foods yesterday. No problem at all! (Except yeah, my stomach gurgles more and I’m way more gassy). I eat fairly slow but I also suspect that I could eat a little faster than they say. Anybody try eating at a “normal” pace? Like not racing, just normal?

I’m ok without the coffee physically, but man I miss it! The no caffeine coupled with brain fog sucks right now (8 days after surgery).

I went in the first night because I threw up brown stuff and couldn’t manage the nausea. Looking back I don’t think I was tolerating water very well. They said I was dehydrated, gave me fluids, I think morphine, consulted with the bariatric dr on call and sent me home saying I’m not gonna die. I’m still having gas pains and still kind of dizzy but I think things will get better once I get different sources of protein and liquids. Hang in there!

Thank you for your suggestions. The difference in program guidelines tells me that there is not necessarily only one way to do the stages. That actually makes me feel better, lol. Going shopping now!

I also wasn’t clear on all liquids counting towards my 64oz. Which makes sense and makes things a lot less stressful. Lol

We’re going grocery shopping later. These are great ideas! I am getting unflavored protein powder in the mail tomorrow. Thanks for sharing.

So on day 4 (of 7) I began to feel lightheaded and dizzy. I had been sleeping most of days 1-3 so didn’t consume much of anything. Talked to the bariatric nurse (day 5) who asked me about calorie count. I told her I’ve (like you all) I’d been focused on trying to get the 64 oz liquids/60g Protein in. She basically told me to vary my diet and try to get more calories. So, drank some liquidy butternut squash Soup, and watered down some yogurt. The soup is only 80 calories per cup. The chicken broth we have has 1g of protein and even fewer calories. She suggested I could have sugar free popsicles, so looked and they’re a whopping 25 calories each. So, I’m finding all this very challenging because My stomach isn’t big enough to drink all the fluids, consume protein, and worry about calories! Gaaaah (exasperated yell) This is why I asked my question. Lol!

I had mine on 4/23. Biggest issues are constant gas pain and trying to get enough calories/water! Any ideas for calories on a full liquid diet?
