Hi everyone, had my surgery yesterday and it went extremely well. Some gas pain but walking definitely helps! Incision pain is minimal and im sipping water and broth with no problem! Im very happy overall, i hope to go home today. -

What was your tipping point?
Greendragonfly replied to 3tallwomen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can very much relate to your feelings of being overweight and getting older and not being able to care for myself. I have had those exact thoughts and frankly they drive me to get healthy. I feel for your mom. -
What was your tipping point?
Greendragonfly replied to 3tallwomen's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My tipping point was being a diabetic and placed on insulin. Im 65 years young and I watched my husband suffer from being overweight and having diabetes before he died and he was only 59. I decided I needed to get healthy because there is a lot more life left in me. -

Phase 2 clear liquid diet ideas...

Have you tried the Bariwise protein soup? Isopure is also great, the lemonade flavor is tart not sweet. Tastes like flavored water. Good luck. -
Lying about not getting surgery is awful
Greendragonfly replied to GinormousReislin's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I dont understand why anyone would consider not telling people that you had WLS a LIE?? If someone has the nerve to ask me how I lost weight I would just say I decided to get healthy. That isnt a lie. Its keeping my personal business private. If someone asks you how much your mortgage is or how much you paid for your car do you just blurt it out? Personal is personal. Honestly, what I weigh and how I did it or didnt do it isnt anyones business other than those I chose to tell. Unless it puts someone in harms way or hurts someone it isnt anyones business and I personally think its rude for people to ask. -
Lying about not getting surgery is awful
Greendragonfly replied to GinormousReislin's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have told my family and my best friend. I wont tell others because people that have never been overweight or obese havent got a clue. They are judgemental even if they say they arent. In subtle ways and in not so subtle ways I have been treated differently by most people because of my weight. The last thing I want to hear is someone said “she took the easy way out”. This is far from the easy way out. Being a diabetic nearly made weight loss impossible for me. I do not see it as a lie in any way. I see it as a personal choice. I dont owe it to any one to be truthful about this journey as long as Im truthful with myself. -

Discuss: childhood dieting & related trauma
Greendragonfly replied to james2021's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My issues are different but food issues just the same. My life revolved around food. Big family dinners and lots of food always available. Holidays filled with tons of food and desserts and cookies and pies. Seeking out the best restaurants referring to myself as a “foodie”. Not caring about how much I consumed or how many calories. Working so many hours then coming home and taking care of family with no time to take care of myself. No exercise, no control, no boundaries. I watched my husband die from diabetes and cancer and that shook me. I decided it was now MY time. To take care of ME. I need to take my life back. I have support but not from anyone that truly understands. Everyone says oh thats great but they dont really get it. -

Completed day 11 of my pre op diet today. It has been far from easy but I am trying to learn to steer my thoughts away from the food Im craving by getting busy. My focus has to be on the end game. Having this outlet with people that actually understand what Im going through has helped me tremendously. -

What would disqualify me in a Psych exam?
Greendragonfly replied to Happymouse13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They definitely dont want to hear your reason for wanting to lose weight is to wear a bikini. The reason should be for health. Also many people, myself included have a need for food for comfort. I need to learn what I can replace that need with other than food or other bad addictions. -

Ive heard ( havent hd my surgery yet) that the incision that hurts the most is the one they removed the stomach from. Perhaps thats why its the worst 🤷🏻♀️ . Good luck with. your journey

What happens at the pre-anesthesia appt?
Greendragonfly replied to james2021's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do know its important to give accurate history like if anyone in your family ever had a problem with anesthesia. Other than that, good luck! -

Funny, I just got off the same call with my doctors office and I am having the exact same thoughts. Wow its a lot to remember. I am hoping when the time comes I will just keep referring back to my notes and I will get it right. I was thinking I need a binder with tabs to keep track lol 😂. -
Surviving the 14 day pre-surgery diet- any tips?
Greendragonfly replied to Dani64519's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did the same thing before my surgery was scheduled I replaced 1 meal with the protein drink and it did help me. I also agree that the first 3-4 days are the hardest but it does get easier. I have my pre op appointment today! Its getting so real! Good luck with your journey. -

Protein taste issues

Im still doing my pre op diet and I was having a hard time with the sweetness of the Premier shakes. Since I found isopure lemonade and unflavored mix I can tolerate it much more. -
