I had gout prior to surgery that was controlled and it is worse after. Likely due to the amount of protein I am consuming. Everything post surgery seems to be about balance.

Protein taste issues
Greendragonfly replied to TravelKat's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I use Isopure unflavored, tahitian vanilla and very berry and lemonade. They all taste great. Also the premier protein cafe latte powder is delicious mixed with water and has 30g of protein. Quest protein chips are also tasty. -
I am 2 months post surgery today. The day before surgery I stopped taking all of my diabetes medication which consisted of metformin, glimiperide, ozempic and tresiba. I have not taken ANY of them since surgery and my A1c is down from 6.7 to 6.3. My hope is with continued weight loss my A1c will go even lower. My diet is high protein low carb about 600-800 calories per day. I feel better than I have in years.

Things to get before and after surgery recommendations
Greendragonfly replied to xjjano75's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I bought 2 oz. cups with lids to keep my portions small. I also bought some baby food spoons so I wouldn’t accidentally eat too much at once. It has worked very well for me. Also the unflavored Isopure protein powder for mixing with cold foods like sugar free pudding, etc… Good luck with your journey! -
I almost gave in to the arches….

You are definitely not alone. Every time I am alone in my car it wants to steer directly to a fast food place. Doesn't matter which one but I steer my brain to the end game instead. It is definitely tempting. -

The Premier Cafe latte has the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee. -

Funny 16 the magic number and the 3 week stall seem to be the norm 🤷🏻♀️ -
You aren't alone! I even had to unlike pages on Facebook because I never realized how many pages I was following that revolved around food. Same with my Pinterest! I find that watching Netflix or Hulu works better for me, no food commercials!

It did control my diabetes very well and I think it is an excellent drug for diabetics. The cost will likely be prohibitive for weight loss. Even with insurance it cost me a lot of money.
-
I took Ozempic for diabetes prior to surgery and was not able to lose any weight. 🤷🏻♀️

You need to give it time to work. It may not work until tomorrow.

My sleeve was done on 5/20/21 so Im a week in and doing good with full liquids and protein drinks. The bariatric protein chicken broth is about the best tasting thing I have. I have had greek yogurt (light and fit) and Im allowed sugar free pudding and jello. The doctor said I was doing so well I can add some mushy food this weekend like the ricotta bake or some tuna fish. I cant wait! 😂 -
I found the premier protein shakes too thick and sweet. I am now drinking Iconic protein shakes. I also like the Isopure protein powders. The lemonade is good and I also use the unflavored.

My endo stopped my insulin 3 weeks before surgery because I was only having protein shakes and one meal consisting of protein and vegetable. My food intake was not enough to cause high blood sugar. I remained on my metformin until 2 days before surgery. Since surgery I was told as long as my sugar remain under 170 I do not need to go back on metformin. Im still on the full liquid diet and perhaps as I add food back I will need medication but Im hoping thats not the case. 🤞🏻🤞🏻Prior to surgery during the pre op diet I did have one sugar drop and was able to eat some crackers to bring my sugar back up. No crackers allowed now so I would be afraid of a sugar drop.

Good luck to everyone having surgery tomorrow 🤞🏻🙏 -
My doctor told me a story about a patient that swore she kept the diet and when he did the surgery he was picking onions out of her stomach. Not sure how true it is but it made me think twice. I would take a pass on the burger. i was intubated for surgery and my throat is still sore to a degree, I had my surgery on 5/20/21

Day 2 home from surgery. Doing well I think. Gas pains/spasms can be painful when they come but for the most part I have minimal pain. Im getting all my fluids and protein in. Took all my pills ok today. Im breaking my allowed food down into 2 ounce cups and eating with a baby spoon to avoid accidently eating too much at once. Im on a full liquid diet, yogurt, ricotta cheese, sf pudding, protein soups (clear), sf ice pops, protein shakes. Compared to my pre op diet this is heaven lol -
