    Surgeon's advice after vomiting

I take three childrens chewable Multivitamins daily. I get the Equate brand due to it meeting the requirements from my office. They also recommended them. I also switched to sublingual B12 and D3 due to the pill absorption issue I was having. I would ask if there are alternative multivitamins you can take so you eliminate the throwing up issue. Then you don’t have to worry about this latest advice!

    Potatoes 5 weeks out

To each their own. Just remember, there are people on here who look to others who’ve had surgery before them. Having WLS is a life changing procedure that includes people having to make certain life changes to ensure it works for them. I am not saying you specifically gave advice to anyone - if you want to openly share that you chose to not obey your doctor and dietician’s plan three days after surgery, so be it. Hopefully people considering surgery and those who just had surgery choose to follow their team’s plans.

    Losing My Hair!

I lost hair from 3 to the 6 month mark just like they said. At month 9, it’s all back and thick like it was. Don’t worry - it will come back!

    Pain post op

I had the same thing two weeks ago, ended up in ER with Appendicitis and emergency surgery. Of course, with the upper back pain, I had vomiting it was so bad. I had an 8mm stone blockage in my duct.

    Hi

My sw was 280… I’m a little over 9 months out and I’m down 101lbs. At 3 months out, I was down around 45lbs. I’ve had a few stalls here and there but I couldn’t be happier. Remember - it’s a staircase, not a slope.

Your dietician isn’t happy because you could literally die if you don’t follow the program for the first 6 to 7 weeks due to breaking your new stomach open and having food seeping into your body cavity. No offense, but this is not good advice to all of the other new surgery patients on this page. People should absolutely adhere to the medical plan their doctor puts them on and follow the diet strictly for the first six weeks.

    Potatoes 5 weeks out

I eat potatoes like they are going out of style. Mashed, roasted or baked… I do eat the skin and if I am craving them, I will make it a meal with some kind of meat on top with cheese and a little sour cream. I have always tolerated them just fine.. however, there are a bunch of other things I don’t tolerate well - rice, breads, etc.
  8. I had RNY April 13th 2021… I set a goal in my mind of 100lbs and I would be happy. Today, I weighed in at 179lbs. 9 months after surgery, I am down 101lbs. No regrets, no complications, life is beautiful. Just wanted to share with you all.

    Having a hard day today...

Hey everyone. Doing so much better these days. Actually had to go onto the pill to help my hormones level out. Only temp though.. really until I lose the majority of my weight. 43lbs down now and feeling good. Hope you all are doing ok too. Hang in there!
  10. I have heard that some people tend to move towards plant based meats after WLS, but I know many who still do eat red meat. The ones that don't said they simply didn't care for the taste anymore after surgery. I have tolerated everything I've eaten so far without issue... well, except for Lemon Pepper packaged tuna. My tummy did not like that. Everything else has been fine. I am one of the lucky ones that haven't had complications with food or drinking. The journey is different for everyone.
  11. Hey all - Just wanted to reach out because I am having a difficult day. I've cried three times and just feeling down. I am three weeks Post OP and I am surprised it has taken this long for me to feel some of the effects. I miss food. Not in the way of feeling full or having some emotional need - I just simply miss the taste of food. The point I am at in my diet - I can only have canned/packaged tuna or scrambled eggs.. along with the softer foods from the previous weeks. I opened a pack of the tuna today and it smelled horrendous. I just started sobbing and my wife said to throw it away... we'd get the kind I did like at the store in a bit. Is it just me or have any of you felt like this? I just feel like a ball of emotions the last two days.

    Food Before and After Photos

Okay all... I am new here and I've been going through this thread, so I figure you guys are best to ask. I, too, am a fellow foodie and cook - so I CANNOT wait to be able to start cooking again, trying new recipes and eating actual food. I am about to go into week three after surgery and finally get to have eggs and tuna... maybe a 1/2 piece of toast. So... here's the burning question: I've read RNY patients should avoid cabbage. As a Scot-Irish American... this makes me sad. However, I see some of you eating Brussels Sprouts.... which I LOVE with some bacon in a pan!!!! Have any of you had adverse reactions to them? (I already no longer have a Gallbladder since ten years ago... so I know all about dumping syndrome, etc.) Btw - first thing I am making when I get to have real food is Shakshuka in my new ramekins I just ordered... with a little Truff hot sauce on top!! I cannot wait.

New here - Here's a little of my story....

Thank you so much! Really, I just thought of my dad through it all... what he went through, how he fought to live and everything I've done has been so tiny compared to that. We only get one life.... we can't waste it.
  15. I loved tomato juice before surgery and I love it even more now!! I do water first thing, then juice and I just started introducing coffee back into my life.
