This could not have been said any better. Weight loss is different for everyone. -
I agree with you wholeheartedly. I went from lsurgery to soft foods. Mostly protein shakes for fear but I could eat regular foods but very small amounts, and felt fine. this is a took to help lose weight not a magic solution.
-
Are you getting hungry ? I am 4/26
-
17 days post-op, I am adding spoons of soft foods but not much and rely on protein shakes for nutrition still

This happened to me with fluids, it would not go down. The reflux, heartburn were so painful I would throw up. Not to mention I was severely dehydrated, it was awful. I had a scan that showed the fluid stuck literally in my throat. They said this was very dangerous because it can go into the lungs and I went into surgery days later, right in the middle of the pandemic when hospitals only took emergency cases, last July. I was so scared, everyone in the hospital was paranoid as was I. My surgeon looked like an astronaut he was so covered up when he performed the surgery. I had to mention this because that showed how incredibly dangerous the lap band can be. And that is where the nightmare began. I had this weight so under control that I truly felt I would never put on the weight again. Exercising daily, eating very healthy, I really thought this was it. No more struggles after 10 years of keeping it under control. And then in one year, it all came back and then some. I remember my surgeon saying, most people have a revision to remove scar tissue and then have the sleeve done to keep the weight under control. Who could have known that this would be so incredibly hard? It was devastating. If I knew then what I know now I would have done it even thinner because this is, for me anyway's, a way of life. I must always try and try hard to stay on the path of mindful eating and exercising. Day 16 post op 13lbs weight loss Started bike riding. I had mine on the 26th and have lost 13 lbs. I am so excited !!!!! i have the go-ahead to exercise but I am not really eating so I am being careful. so excited to start this next chapter. It was impossible for me to lose 13 lbs before, I feel so much better knowing the weight is finally starting to come off!

27 lbs is a lot, it’s tremendous, your body is in shock and getting used to its new system. Give your self a break. Almost 30 lbs in less than a month ! I think that is amazing.

Surgery Scheduled and Telling No One

I am 3 weeks post op and this weekend I did everything wrong. My husband and kids took me to a resort. I had half an alcoholic drink per day and I had some solids, tomatoes and a bite of lobster, but I chewed forever. I had no issues. I was expecting to get sick but I didn’t. I did this twice and now I am going back to my comfort zone. Only going to have one soup per day and my trusted protein shakes. I had lost 14 lbs but I will not weigh myself for a few days. I do not want to get depressed if I went up. I knew this would be a struggle. Gastric sleeve is only a tool to get you where you want to go. Real changes have to happen anf now I know how I gained the weight. 60lbs in 1 year. I am shocked it wasn’t more. -

It is so difficult to understand but the body went through major shock. If I have learned anything from these forum is that everyone’s experience is very different and in some instances, almost the same. You have to give it a little time. Before you know it 20 lbs will be off and it will be the start of something great.

Very careful with pain after so many days as it could be something else. A call to surgeon’s office would not hurt.

And what is wrong with looking good ? Mental health counts. There are many people who have no medical issues from being overweight does that disqualifies them from a life free of excess weight via gs, not fair. A perfect argument that not telling anyone is the best way. My family was fully supportive with 60 lbs excess. They understood. I did this for me. I did this because whether I live 5 days , 5 months , or 50 years, I want to do it on my terms. Feeling good and looking by best. everyone else can go fly a kite ! -
