Hey everyone! Wow- I've finally experienced my first disappointment with the doc's office. I called today to schedule my frist fill (they never scheduled it). The only thing I ever received was a GI swallow set for August 20. So I called in to schedule my fill adn she said they were booked until October!!! Are you kidding me?!?! But then I told her that I had surgery mid-July and I shouldnt have to wait until October for my first filL! then she said they would TRY to schedule my fill right after my gi swallow. (same day) so i guess we'll see where that goes... I've had such a great experience so far with my doc's office, I'm just surprised by this. What about people getting banded this month? Will they have to wait until December? It just seems really unrealistic to me. Anyway- sorry to vent. I have seen posts like this before but always saud to myself "this wont be me!" well...guess im wrong!

Barb and Lyn- yea I don't feel very full at all after my mushy meals. And its good to read other posts from people who could have larger portions on mushies! I was starting to worry myself :confused2: But yea, my surgeon didn't specify how much I could eat, but just to take it slow and stop when you are full!

Hi everyone! Wow, Orea thanks for the turkey chili recipe! And I've found that chili really fills you up! YUM! And with autumn coming up, I can't wait to have something warm! (i live up north) :biggrin2: I'm really pleased with my weight loss so far. NOthing dramatic, but slowly and steadily losing. Even while on mushies! I was so worried that once I started mushies I would start to gain all my weight back. I lost 11 pounds before surgery and since then (july 18) i've lost another 10. And I can feel it! My jeans are starting to slide down. Never thought I would say "YAY what a great feeling! falling pants!" Anyway, I hope you are all doing well today. Seems like we are all in the same boat still. Can I recommend walking more? I've been walking 30 mins each day at the gym and boy do I feel great!!! Much love!

Yea- it's crazy how all docs are different. I couldn't eat mushies until 14 days after surgery. They never put a lot of emphasis on how much mushies, just to keep the portions small (1/4- 1/2 cup). I could however eat full liquids immediately following surgery. So far so good! My doc does liquids (2 weeks) mushies (2 weeks) soft foods (2 weeks) so i'm about halfway there! glad the july butterflies have all completed surgery! now, onto the next phase!

Kathy! I hear ya. I'm on mushies now and I've been eating way more than I thought I would be able to. About one cup of mashed potatoes. But yea- I'm still hungry. I guess we feel "full" after our first fills! Can't wait for that day!

Exercise: What are you doing post-op?
PDXBandster posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone- Once again I have a question! haha But this is the BEST place to ask it  I"m 2 weeks post op today (weeee ) and wondering what everyone was doing in terms of exercise? I am walking 30 minutes a day on the treadmill at a small incline. Is this OK? What do you guys to? Especially about a few weeks post-op? My doc didnt really give specific instructions other than no swimming and no intense work outs until I'm cleared. Whattya think? -
Awesome! This is exactly what I was talking about. This gives me great ideas! Thanks!

I can't WAIT to buy a pair of nice, expensive jeans. Preferable Citizens of Humanity. Oh and I'm also going to reward myself with a trip to IRELAND! I'm going with my best friend in March. Can't wait!

Hello my dear July friends! I hope everyone is having a happy Friday! If any of you are up to it, would you mind running down your daily meals? Like what do you eat on a normal day? Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I'm going to the grocery store today (yikes- i always end up spending too much money ) but I want to be sure I pick up the right things. I am starting mushies today, but even if you aren't on mushies, what do you eat each day? I'm curious as to how I should start planning out my meals. I bring my lunch to work so it will be easy to prepare in advance. Any help would be SO appreciated. Thanks everyone. This truly is the BEST place to go for support! Much love. :biggrin2:

Hi Everyone! I've gotten some great feedback on mushie recipes. So far here is my favorite: Refried Beans, salsa, sour cream, and cheese! Sounds yummy! Please share some of your recipes with us! Any good recipes that get veggies AND Protein in? I know we're all in the same boat and compiling some winning recipes will definitely make the mushie phase go by much quicker  Thanks everyone!:biggrin2: Let me know some great ideas!

Great Mushie Recipes to share!
PDXBandster replied to PDXBandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The recipe is as simple as that! Just use refried beans, sour cream, and salsa. Puree those together and sprinkle some cheddar cheese on top. voila! another good recipe ive heard of is tomato sauce, ricotta, and chicken pureed. these other recipes sound yummy, too! whoo hoo for more ideas. anyone else have some recipes? im really looking to get in more vegetables. i love the cauliflower idea. -
Orea and all other July 30 bandsters- good luck! I hope everything goes well. Please please keep us updated

So ready to move onto mushies! I finally get to eat the glorious mushies starting friday for two weeks. Then onto soft food for another 2 weeks! My surgeon has us doing liquids for 2 weeks, mushies for 2 weeks, and then soft foods for 2 weeks. 6 weeks! aaahh!! Sometimes I get worried that I am consuming the wrong liquids. Yesterday I got so sick of the liquids that I had some cream of mushroom soup. I diluted it with water. I hope that's OK. But I'm telling you guys...I'm just SO HUNGRY. I had to. For my sanity! lol Anyway- really looking forward to pureed tuna salad on friday night!!!! But also still very nervous about putting back on all the weight that I've lost on the liquid phase. I guess we'll see. Have you guys been exercising? I've been walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes each day. Do you think that's OK?

Oh my gosh...I am SO HUNGRY. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do. I'm only on day 6 of my post-op diet. I have to be on all liquids for another whole week and I am about to lose it. How do you guys do it? I'm so hungry. I got banded on the 18 and I dont have any restriction. I'm hungry and ready to eat some REAL food. I am so sick of Protein shakes and Jello. :smile2: Any advice for food to eat on an all liquid diet?

Who's Getting Banded in July?
PDXBandster replied to SanDiegoSusan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow- I'm down 18 pounds in 3 weeks! It's a great feeling...but I am SO hungry. I'm on day 8 of my post-op diet and really struggling with the boring jello and protein shakes. But other than that, I feel good. Took my doggie to the park today and ran errands like normal! I can't believe that I was in surgery this time 8 days ago :tt2: Anyway- hope everyone is doing well. I really love our group and I love to see how everyone is progressing. The good thing is that we are all in this together :biggrin2: Much love. -
Congratulations to you Brendan. What a wonderful life change. We're really happy for you.
