I did it! As I guessed, the one they take the stomach out was the only bad one I have. It’s healing fine, just spread a bit, I don’t think the nurses put the steristrips on good when she replaced them. (I suspected this after I was able to take the covering bandage off after 72 hours.) My other 4 will barely leave a scar.

I’m still on 8 more days of full fluids 😜 (…since my surgery was last day of May) I took steristrips off my 3 upper incisions…they are so small. They all look good. I have a feeling my main incision will not look as good, I’m scared to take the strips off to see… It has only been 9 days, I think they said remove Day 14 if they haven’t come off…

I have the Renpho one that is popular on Amazon. Has an app that tracks stats & measurements.

Has anyone regretted getting the surgery?
MistySkye replied to Roses436's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed the same phenomenon - like I'll think about a food item, but I don't actually want to eat it. No food cravings - I'm only a week out, so on full fluids. My thoughts are more along the lines of I want something hot, or I want to use a spoon 😂 It just seems so weird. On Thursday night when I got home (i had to fly for my surgery) I recall telling my mom I have no regrets. Whatever comes, comes, but I do not regret getting the surgery. I also had to think long and hard if I really wanted to do this, and researched like crazy as I paid for it out of pocket. -
Results for people who began with a BMI of 30-35?
MistySkye replied to Sarahgirl10's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was 36.3 before 2 day liquid diet, 35.7 after 1 day liquid diet. 5 days post op, 34.5. I have been staying well hydrated, in fact my water % on the Renpho scale has went from 36.3% to 38.2%..so it's not just water weight 😂 -
My New Sleeve experience (so far)
MistySkye replied to A1220M's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 5 days out and have yet to experience nausea (knock on wood) My surgeon included anti-nausea meds in the pre & post op med regime. I have avoided narcotics other than what they gave me the day of surgery. The only med I'm taking 5 days out is 1 ES Tylenol a few times a day. Everyone's experience is different. I don't have pain per se, more so discomfort. Similar to a feeling of fullness. (Sometimes hunger pangs) I'm really not sure what is going on in there, I'm sure my body will figure it out eventually. Plus I have to remind myself that I'm still healing! I just keep sip, sip, sipping away at fluids. -
My period was due to hit day of surgery, thankfully it waited a day. Made for an interesting first post-op day, between cramps & gas pain...my abdomen was the one least in pain 😂

Woke up hungry today 😜 Yesterday was a travel day for me, so hoping just an anomaly and I should have ate protein when I got home home, as I just had some powder mixed with water before my flight, which I now realize there was probably 16 hours between when I last ate and when I woke up hungry. So, today I focus on getting into a routine. The hunger feeling is certainly different from before surgery. Need to get used to my bodies signal changes. Also first day with no meds.

Day 3 post op I think (day of doesn't count right?) Was nice to have a shower. My abdomen feels fine. Getting my protein & water in. Apple Sauce & Apple Juice are the only other 2 things I have had. Last day of pain meds. Pain has been mild for the most part, most of the gas pain has dissipated. Averaging around 6000 steps per day. While taking meds, I pace back and forth...to pace myself 😂 (stayed in hotel post surgery, fly home today) Only thing my body doesn't like right now - is wearing a bra. Feels too constricting.

What should I aim for in terms of healthy goal weight?
MistySkye replied to ThanaK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I did a calorie restricted program once and got down to 167 - for like a day (I have been overweight my entire life) If I can get back there again, that will be awesome. But I said my goal was 180. Only 3 days post-op, so on the road. -
What I am most thankful for…no nausea. I’m almost 48 hours post-op. Already started on protein yesterday. Had a tiny bit of apple sauce. My stomach has been tolerating well. Main pain has been from the gas. Barely feel my incisions beyond getting out of bed. No GI issues, things are moving. Knock on wood that things keep moving along well.

Just over 21 hours post-op. Feeling good. Don’t feel like I need to take narcotics. I do need to get different Tylenol’s - because EZ tabs not so easy 😜 Been walking back and forth a lot in hotel. Drinking water & apple juice this morning.
-
Drinking water no problem in hospital. Trying to do an oz every 5 mins. Gas pain is a b***h. It’s my main source of pain. Currently going up both sides after a brief walk. I’ll be discharged in a couple hours.

Good luck to everyone with surgery on the last day of May - myself included. Surgery in less than an hour.

Day 1 of clear fluids. My body has decided it would be a good time to eliminate everything 🤪 water, water, water....and some broth. Decided to still do a 30 min Fitness+ strength workout. Figure it will be the last one I will be able to do for awhile. Surgery Monday morning! I'm going into this knowing the recovery part will suck.
-
Last day of work, I start clear fluids tomorrow, surgery Monday!
-
I have been curious about the sleeping thing too. I’m a side/stomach sleeper. In hotel for 3 nights after. Will be no issue when I’m home as I have adjustable bed.
-
Yes, I have this one too. My surgery is on the 31st so have not taken yet.

The gas pain is certainly the one thing I am not looking forward to ...I vividly remember it from when I got my gallbladder removed - and that was 21 years ago. It was in my left shoulder back then. In a way it is good going in knowing what that type of pain is like. Gallbladder was also laparoscopic. 7 more days! Booked a Covid test for Tuesday, as its a requirement, although I'm partially vaccinated, so least of my concerns.
-
I was given a prescription for an PPI medication and told I need to take it for two months post op - whether I have issues or not.
-
If my surgery was in the AM I would have went home same day (in the evening). My surgery is in the afternoon, so they will keep me overnight.
-
I got the call this morning, they got me in for May 31 I'm so happy, but now its like OMG I need to get prepared LOL I only need to do liquid diet for the 2 days before, and need to ween myself off coffee this week (thankfully, I only drink two cups/day, so I'll do one for a few days then stop)
-
I should find out my surgery date in the next couple days, hoping for May 31 (original date was May 3) I am fortunate to have paid sick time and plan to take 4 weeks.
-
Wow! I just checked my program and they include fluid from all sources. I'm still pre-op and I rarely hit 100oz/day ...and that includes, all forms of fluid. So I can't imagine just getting that in without including protein shakes and such. I have been using the Waterlama app to track my fluid intake. and it varies the "hydration" percentage based on the fluid type. (so for example, coffee is only 60%)

Still hoping to be a May surgery…but losing hope. I can’t believe Ontario has blocked surgeries this long. (3 weeks now)
