Pants Size and Other Bariatric Sites

I’m still wearing the same jeans I was pre-surgery…and I’ve lost 31lbs 🤪 Now, they are stretchy jeans, and I have to wear a belt now, but I haven’t stopped wearing them yet. (Judy Blue 16W/14W) I carried more of my weight in the stomach area, and I have certainly lost there. I’m holding out until the Size 13 I bought fit before I give them up.

    Coffee creamer?

    I use 1/3 of a premier protein.
  3. I'm just over 7 weeks out - and I fall into the no issues category too. I literally looked up every possible side effect so I was prepared; it still didn't sway my decision to go forward with the surgery.. The only *thing* I have is still get hungry; but not the I need to eat everything hunger. I just wait for my next meal or snack. Its tolerable. I'm hoping that goes away eventually. I'm still on a PPI for another week, so I'll watch for the GERD then, good idea to wait a bit. The nurse said if I need to extend the prescription for awhile longer to contact them. I have had no issues with fluid (other than its baby steps in the beginning; but right away post-op I could drink 3 oz in 15 minutes ....and they were just looking for me to get that in per hour. ) No Vomiting or Nausea. I've been good at stopping myself from eating more before I'm overly full. My only Med Issue after surgery is the Tylenol EZ Tabs were not so easy, the caplets were fine. All other meds they had me on went down fine. (I had alot of pills the first 3 days after surgery) Have not had dumping; also have not ate anything that is off-program yet.

    What to eat

@lekcir Were you staying on-site? I have only stayed on-site once (my last trip in Nov 2020) I'll be off-site for my 2 week trip in September - timeshare, full kitchen. So that has its advantages as most likely lunch will be the only meal in the park. Friend I am going with is open to sharing food too & she likes to eat pretty healthy (but of course, Disney snacks end up in the mix) I got an AP Pre-Pandemic, did 3 trips, then 2 more post-pandemic before it expired. Let the AP lapse, but since we were able to get a new one, doing another year of WDW trips. 2 weeks in January also booked. (I have lots of unused vacation time!!)

    May Surgeries - check in!

I'm down 30 since end of May. Started regular vitamins (not chewable) today, those things are huge! (Bariatric Advantage) Got them down, but definitely felt it. No food issues, still "full" after 3-4 oz. Have not incorporated grains yet, as I still can't eat all my vegetable portion. Full after the protein. I really have to watch myself to make sure I don't eat too fast, especially with snacks.
  6. I did a just over 4 hour flight on 4th day after surgery. It was tolerable. Not sure about more than double that... By week 2 you'll feel better.

    July 2021 Surgery People!

@Ready21 Smoothies definitely was not allowed in the liquid stages for me. It was one to avoid. Full Fluids was things like protein shakes, milk, yogurt, cream soup. The only "fruit" I had was applesauce.
  8. I totally would have done this surgery in my 20’s had it existed. The gallbladder, can cause issues regardless of if you have surgery or not. I had mine removed when I was 27 & at my highest weight, that thing is evil. I had to be admitted to hospital twice just to control the pain before surgery was finally done to remove it.

    Water sipping

Just know, it gets better. Try different temps of water. You may find one better than the other. 7 weeks out, I can drink 8 oz in under 10 minutes.
  10. I’m 7 weeks tomorrow. I’m having same with the hunger pains. It has become more prevalent the last couple weeks. When I mentioned it to the nurse, she implied it will improve… I think right now I need to try and eat more vegetables, but I’m usually full after I have my protein. I’m trying to get more water in too. Generally as long as I eat something (like a deli slice) it abates for awhile (or I just ignore it if I’m near a mealtime). I don’t think its acid type pain, it feels like hunger. I’m on 40 mg pantoprozale.
  11. I was allowed cream soup or vegetable soup with the vegetables puréed. I found those really the spot. I like mushroom soup, so I just strained out the mushrooms.

    Vitamins

I was on multivitamin 1 week post - op. Chewable (Bariatric Advantage) for the first 6 weeks. Then I move to pill form.

    May Surgeries - check in!

Started regular foods today, no more soft. Yay! First up Apple & Peanut Butter 😋
  14. Does your surgeon have you on a PPI medication? Mine has me on one for 2 months minimum… I have had no reflux issues
  15. MistySkye

    Helpp!!

I've been on the Bariatric Advantage Chewable with no issues. Only have to take 2 in the morning. I also take their Calcium chews and they are like pieces of candy. I switch to non-chewable next week.

Help … am I eating too much???!!!

Soup I could do over 4 oz by end of week 2 easy. I’m 6 weeks post op. Depends on the food I’m eating as to much I can eat. Around 3 oz protein. Vegetable or Fruit is around 2oz. Lunch today I had 3 slices deli Turkey, 1 cheese stick, 1/4 blueberries and I was full! I focus on protein first. So I get 90-100g per day, Calories at this stage are 700-800. In week 3 I was 550-700 calories. 85-90 protein. That was puree stage for me. I think I ate the Ricotta Bake every day, and could not do more than 3oz.

    May Surgeries - check in!

I can’t have caffeine until 3 months post-op 😢 At least I was only 2 cups a day, I have replaced with decaf (which I mix with premier protein) 26lbs down, I’ll be 6 weeks post-op on Monday. Start “regular” diet Thursday. I’m still in the 3-4oz range per meal. Started strength workouts again (I use Apple Fitness+)

    Time frame for surgery

Depends on your program/surgeon. I did private and could have had surgery 4 weeks from my consult (then Covid delayed it an extra 4 weeks 🤪)

    Drinking Alcohol after surgery

Every surgeon is different. My program is avoid for 6 months. Definitely not this early on. I was told for the first 3 months to stick to the the program while the stomach is still healing. Your body reacts differently to alcohol post Surgery.
  20. Walk, walk, walk! Probably took a week before I felt it had totally cleared my system. Things get better!

    Sipping Water

Yes, it gets better! In the beginning I remember having a lineup of medicine cups with 1oz of fluid, and drinking one every 5-15 minutes. 5 weeks out, I can drink a cup of water in about 10-15 minutes. If water isn't going down well, try and see if something like herbal tea works better. I find warm fluids go down the easiest. Everyone is different.

    May Surgeries - check in!

5 weeks post-op and I hit 25 lbs lost since 2 days pre-op. I started on the lower BMI side, so that puts me just 40 away from my initial goal.

    Covid Test!

I had to have one a week before and day of, it was the worst part of the surgery🤣

    What was your tipping point?

In the last 5 years I gained around 50lbs - my tipping point was joint & mobility issues. I have been overweight my entire life. High of 270, low of 170. I was 241 when I contacted the surgeon. 245 the day I started the pre-op diet. I have my 50th looming in 2 years. I love to travel, so the last thing I wanted was to not be able to enjoy that. I was having nightmares about getting stuck or not fitting in things. The call had to be made.
  25. I’m going to WDW for 2 weeks, 4 months Post-OP 😲. By 3 months your are out of the most restrictive phases, so it should be fine.
