I am nearing the end of the pre op diet and have found it a incredibly hard 3 weeks. It has broken my habit foods and comfort eating. I am not enjoying my diet at all. Its just food for my body. I bought jigsaws and books. Never touched them. I feel like I have spent so much time preparing vegetables, its all I have done. Its just something to get through, we have to or the surgery is off. Good luck

Hello Eggy, I live between Leeds and Manchester and was told that due to covid all NHS Bariatric surgery is off the table. They are concentrating on other surgeries ... I have no doctor at my local health centre that I feel I can speak too and when I tried in the past I just got told to diet again My journey started early this year, I was shocked to realised I had caused my own misery. I was at high risk for covid because of my weight. I thought it was because of my other conditions. I spent all those months indoors and really frightened, because of myself. In that time I managed to get back to my highest weight ever. Then I became diabetic, my last straw. I admit I had to hitch up my big girl pants and be brave. I looked at local private hospitals near me and sent some online inquiries asking the costs. It is no good thinking about it if I can not afford it. It has taken 9 long months since then to get to where I am, pre op tests being ok, 4 days from surgery. Ask away, I will try and help anyway I can

Anyone else having VSG end of Nov 2021?
summerseeker replied to Elaine77's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgery is 24th Nov. I have done 2 of 3 weeks of the pre op diet. I am in the UK and we seem to have docs with different diets here. I am allowed Milk, veg, yogurt and fruit. It works out at about 1000 to 1200 cals a day. I am sick and tired of the veg prep and the boring menu. Its cold here so I want warm food. My poor husband hates my farts TMI. I can look at my doctors photograph and call him an absolute b*****d and a torturer and please would he end this and move my surgery forward to this afternoon Anyone on a more restricted diet has my complete sympathy, -
Depression and gastric bypass
summerseeker replied to fourmonthspreop's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have had depression for a long time. Last year in lock down with all the bad news all the time almost broke me. Friends and family rallied round and helped me along. I realised I have bad days and they pass. Exercise and getting out of the house really work for me. Most people who come to bariatric surgery have dieted and failed many times. We have come to believe that even this will fail for us. I have read thousands of posts on this site and people say this over and over. What will we do when we fail at this fails too ? Looking deeper into their posts shows how much weight they did loose. This has helped me. I am 7 days from surgery and it cant come soon enough. I will get nervous as the day comes nearer but thats just surgery nerves. You are not locked into yours, you can walk at any point. If you are not ready you will know. Be kind to yourself, take some pressure off and just breathe. -
Congratulations on your yearaversary . You look fabulous

There are nut and coconut yogurts especially for vegans. I like coconut milk best of all the alternate milks. -

####ing SKIN TAGS!
summerseeker replied to vikingbeast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The old fashioned way to deal with them is to tie cotton around them a wait till they drop off. You can buy a kit online that is similar but it uses teeny tiny elastic bands, In my opinion you need someone to do it for you, { even though the online kit says you can do it yourself } If you stick a band aid over it, you can forget it for a week then have a look, -
November Surgery Buddies!!!
summerseeker replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been reading past posts for months and it seems some doctors like to really pump in the water so you dont suffer dehydration in the early days of recuperation. Stay off the scale if you can. The process will work -

I have no restriction on my pre op tea and coffee. I am truly thankful for that. I love regular coffee and it would be the hardest thing to give up
