    Post ops liquids

Yes I imagine half of all patients on here struggled with their water intake. Me included. Waking with such a dry mouth is the worst feeling. Have a drink handy at all times and even in the night. Every day will get easier as the swellings in your tummy recede.

    Surgery Date

Hello and welcome in the forum. You wouldn't be human if you didn't feel some trepidation and oh boy the excitement, I remember that. If you have any worries we can help with ask away.

    Trouble eating

You need to contact your team and tell them these worries. It could be as simple as your full stomach signals have finally kicked in. Mine did this and I had to go back to just eating protein until I could fit a little more in my tummy.

    Is this GERD???

Hi, Serious pain should be reported to your team. It sounds like Gerd and could also include Gallbladder problems. I had my gallbladder out years ago and remember a back and front agonising pain from that. I never had Gerd till sleeve surgery so have had some trouble with nausea and reflux at night. I now take 2 x 30 mgs of Lansoprazole. [ Might be a different name as I am in the UK] I take them on a very empty stomach in a morning and at night. I also bought a bed wedge and also put some bricks under the top legs of my bed. So my head is higher than my feet. I never eat after 2 hours before bed either. I hope you can get this sorted out
  6. When your stomach heals and you get onto real foods, you will begin to get full signals. In the beginning my nose would run or I would get sneezes. It takes a while to get used to these signals. Now if I get really cold and get goose bumps on my shins, then I know I have missed my cues and overdone it. Yes I know it sounds bizarre but its true, goose bumps on my shins.

    UK forum users

It sound very much like Dumping Syndrome. It may be the oiliness, the bread, the amount of food or the eggs. All are symptomatic. Eggs, chicken, fats, sugar and bread are particularly difficult for lots of bariatric patients Even now I can not eat bread unless it is toasted so crispy that it snaps. Its all about trial and error, you are early out and I dont know what regime you have been given but at 5 weeks out I was still on soft foods. Even now I can only eat one egg for a meal. Until your new tummy heals, you wont have any feelings of fullness. At your stage my nose would run or I would sneeze and that was my cue to stop eating. Its all a learning curve and its not easy.

Located in Europe- Surgery in Turkey

Hello and welcome into the forum. I had my surgery last November in the Uk. I had to pay too. If you have any questions for me please ask away.
  13. I know it took me almost 10 years to save the money. 10 years I could have been slim ffs. My local doctors kept poopooing me off and wouldn't refer me, I just knew I had to pay. To me now its worth the money but I just could not have gone into debt to pay it back even a 0 percent I had to wait 8 months for my surgery last year even though I paid. I was told 6 months in the beginning but Covid caught them out and it ended being 8. I cried when I found out but my turn came quicker than I thought. You are a step further than I ever got so good luck with your appointment. Worth telling them you are available for any cancellations too.
  14. When I lost about 60lbs I had to begin buying new clothes and wearing the old baggy stuff at home. When buying new stuff I'm naughty. I go into my local M & S store and try clothes on to see which size I fit now. I buy M & S items new from Ebay at a fraction of the cost. As I dont go out that much I can get away with 3 outfits and a dress for special occasions. My old stuff that does not fit anymore goes to a charity shop. I seem to be going down sizes quite quick so I am always on the look out for a bargain
  15. Not all surgeons require the same regime. I was given the choice of soup or custard in the hospital the day after surgery. I wasn't able to manage it but the lady in the next room did
  16. Good luck with your appointment but I have to be blunt here, Its not going to be this year. The NHS is swamped with two and a half years of back cases of urgent surgery that will come before yours. Don't despair though, You will have your foot in the door and are a step closer than before

    Surgery date set!!

Take lots of pre op photo's and measurements. Don't be worried when the 3 week stall appears, you are not doing anything wrong.
  18. When you don't want to eat a meal, how about trying a tiny pack of jerky, or simply a protein yogurt. This is what I do. That way I get to my protein goal. You need to kick start your appetite
  19. What does your daily food diary look like ? Can you give us a little more information. I say this because I am wondering why you are nibbling on a tomato ? Are you dry heaving because you have an empty tummy ?

    Two weeks after GB surgery

Hello and welcome in the forum. The first month is hard but passes quickly and you will soon be flying along. You may have a stall in your weight loss in a week, lots of us commented on the 3 week stall. Browsing the back pages will give you lots of ideas and inspiration, it kept me going. Good luck
  21. We all come at different angles with this issue. I had no choice, I had to pay up. I couldn't wait till the NHS recovered from Covid and I finally found a Doctor who would recommend me for the surgery. I have been asking for 25 years and several had already side tracked me onto yet another diet. If I had been given your choices then I would wait for the free option. It would be only 4 months longer than I had to wait anyway. The $18,000, I would save towards skin surgery later down the line. What do you spend on food in a week ? Times it by 52. Shakes, protein powder and bariatric vitamins are extra costs that you may need to factor in too. Keep chatting to us on the forum and read the back pages while you decide. Good luck

    Pre op diet weight loss

I had an unusual pre op diet for 3 weeks. It was 40 ounces of skimmed milk, a non fat yogurt and as many non carby veg as I wanted. I lost 15lbs but oh boy was I glad when it ended. So was my husband, I had horrendous wind
