Hmmm, yes it stinks. Its just not as much fun when you can not adjust your ticker every day. I use MY FAT SECRET to track my food and if I don't adjust my weight every two weeks it prompts me to update. It always feels as if it is judging me, lol. I usually swear at it.

Post op plastic surgery

This is really up to the surgeon. In my non surgical opinion, face and neck should be ok sooner -
Post op plastic surgery
summerseeker replied to Sunnyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I ever want to go on holiday and wear a swimsuit or bare my arms again, then I will have to get arm and leg surgery. I had really fat arms and legs. They are really bad, so bad that they shock me. I used to wear wide leg trousers and find now that I love skinny leggings. Winter weight ones hide my wrinkles. I did expect it because of my age and am saving hard to afford it. The rest of my body, I can hide so I will see sometime later on about that. I was told by the dietician that the surgeon will not contemplate my surgery until I am in maintenance. Fortunately, my eyesight is shot, I can not see the finer details of my face anymore. This will save me a fortune -
Pregnancy like symptoms
summerseeker replied to Courtney*'s topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
I remember feeling like I was pregnant too. Laughable when you are in your 60's. There are foods that I can not tolerate even now, 1 year out. Most fish and especially salmon seems too greasy or smelly now and it was my go to food before surgery. The smell of cooking broccoli or cauliflower makes me heave. Any meat fat would have been the first mouthful before surgery. Now the winter birds are enjoying these tasty treats. One thing that I cry over is I have lost my tolerance for spicy food. I feel like a child again, starting back at the beginning with mild spicing. Even mild tinned chilli seemed too hot this week. -
So sorry if I sound harsh here but this is setting my alarm bells ringing. You need to have a talk with your hubby fast. Controlling behaviour is very scary and does not come from a good place. He is very frightened he will loose you, its his problem and yours to deal with.

Could be a stricture as people have said and this is a easy fix. Hope you are feeling better soon

You could try drinking slower or thinning the shake down if it feels too thick. I could not tolerate cold drinks. I had warm ones. That stopped the pressure pain in my tummy. Now if I overeat by a spoonful, the pressure is there. Always check with your team if you are unsure. They get over paid for it.

It takes me a while to decide on anything. Once the decision is made then its going to take a massive event to shake my resolve, the pandemic didn't stop me. Once my husband said he was onboard I phoned the private hospital. I only told my only child and bestie of 50+ years, both were encouraging. Since surgery I have told my sisters and an overweight neighbour who asked about my weight loss. Unless your friend apologises for being being so negative, I can't see how your friendship would get passed this. As Arabesque says the stats are really good. You live in a country where I don't think you will have any aftercare worries. There is so much advice in this forum if you are unsure of anything, now or later, we are only here to help and encourage. What the person said against the surgery was their own doubts, not yours. If you decide to postpone, its totally ok. You will probably regret your second thoughts but eventually will decide its the correct path for you like we all did. Breathe

Hello and welcome in the very best forum. At the side of your name at the top of the page - click on create. In the drop down is a header called Ticker. That will let you get the diagram you want. If you want a certain topic be a little more specific. Put ' January ' surgery in the search box. Hope that helps -
Always cold!!!!
summerseeker replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last summer I went to Spain and the temperature was in the 90's. Hot Hot Hot. I did not break a bead of sweat. Didn't use the air con, just felt brilliant. Today its -8 and I am going Christmas shopping with my bestie. I am freezing in a Thermal vest, jumper dress, leggings, long socks and fur boots, big parka coat and bobble hat, wool scarf and two pairs of gloves. I always complained about being too hot before surgery....... serves me right -

Isn't it just amazing how wonderful this surgery can be -

Many years ago at Slimming World, I learned not to look at the results of others and criticise myself . What I was doing just didn't seem good enough. So I criticised myself and gave up. I have watched people shoot past me on here but the fact that I am still loosing weight, even at a snails pace, brings me joy. Never, ever compare yourself to others. I have also rid my body of Diabetes. It will attain us a longer life, healthier life. It is the biggest present you can give yourself. It seems to me that you have smashed it. Look at what you can do compared to last year. Your body is thanking you

How did you choose your goal weight?
summerseeker replied to kbsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They take it from there own BMI calculator. I am in the UK so the parameters may be different to yours. It uses height, age, ethnicity and how much exercise you do. A healthy range for me would be between 112 pounds [haha] and 150 pounds according to the British Medical Association. So I guess they pick a number in between and anything extra is classed as excess weight. So 100 % of my excess weight would be between 218 pounds and 190 pounds lost. The sleeve surgery itself says you should loose 65 % of excess weight -
I skipped it. The thought of puree made me gag. I made foods like Indian Dhal, [ without the whole spices] celery and stilton cheese soup and butternut squash and lentil soup. I blitzed them with a stick blender and managed them fine. I also ate cream cheese, crushed boiled egg and mayo. I had and still have taste issues. Hummus still is a no no for me

I was 16 when I had gallstones. The pain was the worst I have ever experienced. Because I was not - Fair, Fat and over 40 the doctors mis diagnosed me. I was so ill and vomiting that I was admitted to hospital 3 times in 7 months. Eventually I met a doctor who got it right and I had urgent surgery. If you have Gall bladder problems you will be super ill, you will know about it for sure

How did you choose your goal weight?
summerseeker replied to kbsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't/ don't have a goal weight because I have been crushed by not achieving it in the past. Also I don't know how far this surgery will take me. The hospital dietician said I could loose 65% of my excess weight and I have already smashed that, her words. Loosing 100lbs was my first goal and I got there easy. I personally would like to get under the 200lbs barrier even if its only a pound. Not being in the obese category would be nice too...... -
Weight loss continues almost 2 years post op
summerseeker replied to Studio54's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I needed to up my calories for energy and as I can not eat more yet, my dietician advised drinking an extra pint of milk a day. Luckily I love milk. I make it into milkshake with fruit. My energy levels have soared since and in a month I have not had to sit and rest or eat some protein. -
It may also be that as you are loosing weight your stance may have altered. I walk so much taller these days and it made me ache until my muscles got used to it. Also I needed new bras as my old ones gave me back aches just because of the size change.

I did it!!! I lost 100 pounds!!!!
summerseeker replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Super congratulations on the 100 down, amazing achievement feeling, isn't it ? Also so glad you are feeling better -
You are at your most vulnerable at the moment. You have just had a huge surgery that will turn your life upside down for a few months. Your hormones are all over the place and you are very sore. You have to cope with a whole new way of restricted eating and drinking. Life for you is very tough at the moment. Add in to this mix is a mum who is trying to be part of this new you. If my mum were alive I can bet she would say something similar too. What you are going through is tough now but it will get easier soon. Once you feel stronger you will be able to cope better. Eat and drink what ever your team say is ok. Ignore the other stuff as best you can. I still eat sugar free popsicles because they taste good to me. If you need to vent again, we are here, we listen and hope it will help you

This flu has GOT TO GO!!!
summerseeker replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh I feel for you, flu and sickness too must be awful. I dread getting coughs and colds because of the pneumonia too. You seem to be doing all the right things with plenty of fluids and vitamins. Keep warm. In the UK we have a cure all that is Whisky, hot water, lemon and honey. Drink enough of it and you feel better. Albas oil on a handkerchief is great for clearing the head if you sniff it. Rest up. -
Congratulations and its great to meet you. Yes its a wonderful tool that has brought me great joy too. You are looking so fabulous. Keep up the good work
