    How much can you eat?

Everyone who does this surgery will have a different story, I have found nobody is the same. We all have different regimes and surgeons' recommendations. So, everyone progresses at different rates. It is a mistake to compare yourself to anyone else. Well, I could eat for England as we say! Especially Chinese foods, I loved rice and noodles. Now I am just starting to eat a bit more, but I don't have a lot of hunger and quickly get full, so I have 5 small meals a day and 20 ounces of milk or milk shake a day. That puts my daily calories around 900 - 1200 My breakfast today was almost 4 ounces of protein yogurt and a milky coffee. Lunch was a peeled apple and a 1 ounce of French Brie cheese. I have just had a strawberry milk shake. My evening meal is 2 ounces of homemade pork sate with 1Tbsp of brown rice. The rice is just for show as I can't manage more than 2 tiny bites after the protein. Later I will have an almost sugar free ice lolly [44 Cals] and my milk allowance. If I am short on protein for the day, I will finish the day on 4 ounce of protein yogurt. I usually fit a bit of veg into my day, even if its only in a mug of soup, but not today I am used to seeing my tiny meals, but family and friends are shocked at how little I eat and don't see how big that their portions are.

    SO SCARED

Mine started to drop and I was worried it would never slow down. I went from long hair to shoulder length and finally pixie cut which I am rocking if I say so myself. I may never go back. It lasted 4 months and no body but me and my hairdresser noticed anything different

    Fluid Temp

I came out of hospital into winter at its worst. I was so cold all the time. Warm drinks were my go to. I drank so slowly my drink was going cold in no time at all. I bought a thermos cup and that was the best thing. Every day drinking gets easier. I was allowed coffee from the get-go and my surgeon didn't do protein shakes just plain skimmed milk, so my drink of choice was a coffee latte. When I was wanting salty, I had Boullion cubes diluted. Other times I had warm sugar free blackcurrant cordial. I still drink cold milk and latte's especially on days when I don't get much protein because there are days when I am not hungry You will work out what you like after your surgery. For lots of us our tastes change, I had a really nasty taste in my mouth for weeks and favourite drinks were put aside, and new ones found. Good luck

Tips on what to expect first few weeks

I wish I had been told that sleeping in a recliner chair was preferable to a bed. I had to sleep sat up in bed for almost a month because of nausea I also didnt realise that I would be feeling so cold, the heating was cranked up so high my poor hubby was in underwear all winter

    Weight loss goals

I was so embarrassed to be the biggest person wherever I went. I made excuses and stayed home. Now I go out and feel so normal it's a joy. My confidence is soaring. I didn't know how the other advantages of this surgery would shape up for me, I was so unhealthy, newly diagnosed Diabetic, high BP, Water retention and walking made me breathless and my heart thud in my chest. Then a whole new world opened up for me. I have been taken off all those meds, I walk everywhere. I go in shops that I have never been in ever; I try on their clothes but don't buy. If I want them, I buy them from auction sites, my revenge because they never stocked my size before. I fit on public transport and aeroplanes, people come and sit next to me. All this is really new to me so I believe there will be more huge rewards to come.
  7. Its early days after surgery and it can be a rough ride for a time. Lots of foods we thought we could eat are definite no-go areas after surgery. We have to just try them again at a later date. I am still struggling to eat cooked salmon. Sometimes my stomach will tolerate it and other times it will throw a tantrum. Your bowel problems will get better as soon as you can eat a full diet again You may need an increase in Nausea meds to see you overnight, I did. I also use a wedge and have thick books under the top of my bed, so I sleep with my head a bit higher. As well as nausea I have GERD in the night. These 3 things have worked wonders for me I hope you get it sorted quickly Are you still on protein shakes? Bloating sounds like an intolerance to an ingredient in it or IBS. Can you speak to your team and see if they can give you some pointers. You are very early in your journey and as we all have been given different diets, we don't know what foods you are allowed

    8 weeks out and scared

If you are worried about what you did then speak to your team. My advice would be relax a bit, forgive yourself, you know what you did wrong and hopefully would not repeat the incident. You are so near onederland it would be a shame to put off this huge milestone by weight gain. You have done so well, keep up the good work
  9. Go into the forum drop down box, choose Gastric sleeve surgeries and in there you will find 42 pages of November sleeve buddies. My husband also had trouble with his machine. It took time to tolerate it. He had to change his mask and also have a water reservoir to make him comfortable. Is your worry about the surgery or the time in hospital or when you are at home? From what I have read on here, people do not have Apnoea for long after surgery. Getting rid of your machine will be one of the biggest bonuses Congrats on your surgery date
  10. In the UK, I paid £12,000 last November. Spire Hospitals

    Weight loss Surgery

Can you contact your team and get their help. Everyone is given different advice, so one diet and exercise doesn't fit all. If you can get no help, this is what I would do - Eat proteins first and then vegetables or salad and limit carbs to fruits as much as possible. Log everything that goes into your mouth in any app you choose. So that while you can not do much you are in control. I am sure you know this as you have done so well in the past By the way you have the cutest dog, please give him/her a hug from me please

    Ring Size?!

I never had an original wedding ring. 47 years ago, when I ordered my original wedding ring it never arrived in time for our wedding. The jeweller lost my request. I was heartbroken. I got married in my sister's wedding ring and chose a new ring from a different jeweller when I returned from honeymoon. Years later that ring was stolen. Then I began wearing a deceased parents ring that got too small when I started gaining weight. I bought a second-hand ring that I wear now but like @omrhsn Its slipping off my finger when my hands are cold and wet. I will go back to the parents' ring but TBH, no ring feels like a true wedding ring as I didn't wear any of mine at the ceremony Maybe when we have been married 50 years we can renew our vows and I could get a new ring !

    Slowing down?

I visit my dietician every 2 months, and this visit I lost 14lbs. In this 2-month period I had a very annoying 26-day stall. My team are always overjoyed with my progress, so I am ok with it too. I am eating 800 - 1000 cals a day. Everybody loses weight at a different rate but if we keep to a calorie deficit, then eventually we will all end where we want to. See what this month brings regarding weight loss and if you are still seeing poor results then get back to your team and get them earning their keep

Feeling defeated 10 months post op

    Goal!

Well done you, we started this ride at similar times, and we have both done so amazingly well. I hope you still stay on the forum then you can cheer when I get there too. I just know I will, I am determined

    Unable to vomit

Thats the Foamies. Every time I retried Salmon, Salad, Chicken or Eggs this would happen to me. It so horrid. I feel for you. It gets better. Are you taking nausea medication? I have been so much better since they got me on twice daily
  19. I also felt that waiting wasn't an option and paid for my surgery. I don't regret a penny of the £12,000 I paid in the UK. I have heard really good things in this forum from that hospital. Let us know how you are getting along and if there is anything you need help with, please post and we will help if we can. Good luck next week

    How fast?

I have lost 120lbs in 11 months, so about 11lbs on average a month but I have only been able to move like I can now for the last 4 months. My fat made me so disabled. I think I have done really well, considering.

    Before and After Pics

Oh my goodness don't you look fabulous. Awesome job.
  22. If you look in the heading banner, find Forums and use the drop-down arrow. You will find 14 pages of Pre op diets. In the Uk we have different diets so my help would be unhelpful. I can say that by being on this forum for over a year, I have picked up some knowledge of the US diets. I believe the norm is 4 shakes, sugar free popsicles and maybe a fat free yogurt. This lasts about 2 weeks. With a bit of luck someone will chip in who actually did your pre op diet. Nobody on here will call you a failure, we are a kind bunch. Please give yourself some love. You have gone through so much and you didn't mention Covid. That alone made me pack on another 30+ pounds. I was doing the best I could, so did you. Don't be a stranger anymore. Pop in whenever you can

    Crazy and Sad Realizations

Forgive and hug the child you were. There is nothing you can do to change that part of your life. Everything you learn from now on is the new you. We are reborn and with luck shouldn't remake the same mistakes. On wards and downwards

Eating carbs (pasta, rice, or bread )

Hello Gignac, Whatever you find that you like now may absolutely disgust you after surgery. Lots of us wasted money pre buying products that we have hated. Just buy a few and that way you won't be throwing loads away. Good luck with your upcoming surgery

    Feeling discouraged

I have had HS for so long. I was never told what it was called, I just thought it was the same as my father suffered fr. In my late 30' s and early 40's I suffered with stress and depression, and it seemed to make the condition so much worse. Use every avenue to get your surgery. Good luck
