  1. I am an old fashioned big knicker girl. No bits of dental floss for me. I would never ever put my knickers to dry outside on the washing line. Now they are so tiny, they make me smile, still big knickers but tiny big knickers
  2. Hello and good luck for an early date

    I’m so cold! 🥶

My heating is cranked to the max, My uncomplaining hubby is sat in his boxers. I am freezing cold and I so hope it gets better but it may be the price I have to pay to not carry all that insulation.

    Post op liquid diet

Hi, You will be given a protein count to aim for. Mine is 60 grams a day. Every surgeon has a different regime so you will need to read his pamphlet/ book to find out. Just do what ever your own surgeon advises. If your shakes and drinks don't have enough protein, then you can add extra protein powder to your other foods and drinks. Its not something that you should over worry about early on, getting your liquids in is enough for the first few days. That can seem like a full time job in itself. Good luck

    What are your slider foods?

Hiya Lisa, Has your restriction kicked in yet ? I say this because I could eat a little more before my true restriction came. For a while I could only eat half as much as before. Even now I can only eat a half of a peeled apple and 30 grams of cheese or the same with carrots and hummus at one meal Carrots are too healthy to be slider foods after all they help us and rabbits see in the dark, or did my mother lie to me ? Is this why my hair is straight despite eating all my bread crusts ?
  6. Everyone is different in the way they loose weight. Men on the whole, tend to loose quicker than women. You are doing really great with the weight loss and getting your protein and liquids in to you so well. The weight loss will slow down as you begin to eat more normal foods but then your restriction will kick in to keep you honest. After a while the hunger comes back and that's when all we have learned will be needed to keep us on track. Enjoy this honeymoon period you are in, be ready for the 3 week stall.

    Supplements / Vitamins

My team have me on calcium, multivitamins and a vitamin B12 injection every 3 months. Like pre op diets, every team wants a different set
  8. I had gallbladder surgery aged 17 in 1976. This was before the days of keyhole. The surgeon was a butcher. Over the years I have had terrible pulling/ripping pains all the way down my internal torso. My bariatric surgeon said he had to free loads of scar tissue to do my sleeve surgery. My sleeve surgery took him 3 hours. I have never had a pulling pain since and I am very grateful. Its been a win win for me

    7 Months Out, Need Motivation

I am lucky, I cant do fatty greasy foods. So a lot of take away food is off my menu. I have never been a cake or biscuit eater but I can eat chocolate, pop corn and baked snacks. I buy them small single serve packs that limit my intake. I ration myself to only have one in the evening if I have managed to eat all my protein
  11. Hello, its great to meet you You would not be human if you didn't have some trepidation going through this surgery. You don't need to know everything, you can always jump back in here to ask. I read a lot of the back pages of this forum to pass my time and learn. They are a friendly bunch and very knowledgeable. You will spend your first few days after surgery re learning how to sip slowly and snoozing.

    Coming off caffeine/coffee

Thankfully coffee was not off my doctors list. The first thing they brought me in hospital was a milky coffee, win win
  13. I had lots of mini goals, I didn't want to disappoint myself, go off track and sabotage myself like I always did. In reality, I am unable to sabotage myself unless I eat around my plan. I try not to. My initial goal was to be healthier. Tick. Then to pass in a crowd. Without stares. Tick Next to go in any shop to buy clothes or shoes because I never have. Tick My latest one is Onderland and its taking its time to get there. I don't hold much store in comparing my former self with clothes sizes because they have changed to be bigger in my life time

    Low On Iron

Dont quote me. I think its @Arabesque
  15. I used to put tiny slivers of hard cheese in my mouth and waited till it disappeared. My keto mouth thought it was delightful
  16. I had this when I was not drinking enough, and eating enough calories because of a swollen suture line in my new tummy. Then I had it again when I had dropped a lot of weight and needed to come off my blood pressure medication, I just didn't need it anymore. I had it randomly yesterday morning when I got out of bed too quickly and got busy. I ate some yogurt and had a large milky coffee and I was fine. When I am out I always take a protein bar in case this happens when I have skipped a meal

    Miso soup recipes?

I buy the individual sachets from a company called ITSU. It fills a mug so its perfect sized for me. I add what ever I have in the fridge or freezer. Mushrooms, beansprouts, shredded veg, tofu, minced meat, cooked sausage. I have some chilli and blackbean sauce that I add if I want it spicy. I haven't tried gyozas yet, but do add a few dried noodles. I like anything like this that is ready in a few minutes

    Second Round of Restriction???

The nerves that were severed in your stomach have finally knitted back together. This is why you feel the full restriction now. Mine was about 4 months too. I still have a big restriction {whoop whoop } so I have 5 or 6 tiny meals a day. Otherwise my calories are too low to keep up with my busy new life

    Gastric bypass people

Don't be scared, its only liquid you are on. Eat tiny mouthfuls and drink tiny sips. Try not to swallow air with your food and drink. Try warm drinks if cold ones bother your new tummy. It will get better soon

    Low On Iron

Sounds like you are having absorption issues. { sorry cant remember how to spell that} There is a person on here who can tell you about that What does your team say about you struggling to eat ?

    Dumb questions

Hello and congrats on your surgery date. If you have any questions, ask away, none are silly I had my hair dyed pre surgery. I had my bottom length hair cut twice. My long straight, hair made me look so much balder. Once to shoulder length then a very necessary pixie cut. I have lost hair at other times of my life when going through surgery so did not bother to try expensive treatments. I read others say nothing stopped the shedding so that was good enough for me I was already using a stick so continued with it for a while. Walking is recommended by everyone. I love it still. Try and keep people at a distance in the last two weeks, especially school children. I know this advice is a waste but its the only way you can be sure of no virus cropping up the last week before surgery. I bought a thermos cup to keep my drinks warm. My stomach would not tolerate cold drinks. Like hair loss, skin sagging after surgery is a matter of age, weight and genetics. I believe the chemists who have nothing to do with the cosmetic industry. They say nothing helps your skin regain its shape after loosing a ton of weight if you are a certain age and your skin has no elasticity left.

    Brain Fog after RYGB Surgery

I don't think we give enough thought to how big this surgery is. Just because we are in hospital a short time, we think its less than it is, I did. The anaesthetic alone will make you woolly headed. If you are in any doubt, ask your team. You are doing so well with your liquids, WTG

    Softs Go To Foods

I found a good quality supermarket that did mini meals. I liked the minced meat and gravy topped with mashed potato. Fish pie and a mild minced meat curry and rice. There was plenty of protein in them. I also made a tummy friendly Moussaka with baked aubergine instead of fried. I make a lot of soup, big soup fans. Mushroom with added bacon, blitzed at the end with extra cheese and or a light cream. Pea soup or carrot, sweet potato and red lentil are also great because they are good and thick when blitzed and full of protein. As you can tell I had my surgery in our winter months and needed warming foods. I was allowed melba toast and cream cheese, pate or peanut butter. I had a ton of protein yogurts, soft scrambled and boiled egg, tuna mayo. Good luck with finding suitable foods, it is a bit of a head scratcher in the early days
