10 months post gastric not lossing

This is brutal for you. Some people are eating regular foods in week 2. The randomness of these diet restrictions are never ending. Ring your team and see if you can get the go a head to go to at least puree stage

10 months post gastric not lossing

I eat about 1200 to 1300 a day. My dietician recommendations. Any less and I have not got the energy to do the daily things I want to. I stopped loosing regular weight drops about 6 months ago. I am still on a downwards curve but now its very slow, I would say about 4lbs every 2 months. I get a good drop then am up again for weeks until I get very slowly to the low weight again, then its a good drop and repeat. I put your weight and height in 'My fitness pal' and it says for you to loose 1lb a week, you could eat 1400 calories on a active lifestyle. So you should still be loosing but some say your body will be holding onto every calorie it can while you are on very low cals. What does your team say ? I would say, stick with what you are doing and see where you are in 3 months [ unless 1000 calories is too restrictive for you to maintain.]

    VSG Surgery 4/14!! Twins?

Hi there, Congrats on the very near surgery date. We have all been given different pre op diets. So its hard to comment on yours and be helpful. I have never seen the same one twice ! They are all a bit brutal to begin with and scary but we have done it just to get the surgery. About day 4 you get used to the regime and white knuckle it to the surgery day. Onwards and down wards

    Bubbles.

Wine and champagne is wasted on me, never liked it. I do however like a G&T when I am out, its rare but I dont get problems with having a few. I drink coffee non stop, use straws etc and have no problems
  7. Choose any one scale, if its at home put it in exactly the same space every time. If I move mine to the other side of my bathroom I gain 7lbs. Is the dietician the one your surgeon uses ? and is this the surgeons advice to you ? 150 grams of protein is not a lot pre surgery. Eating protein will make you feel fuller while keeping calories low. I imagine you need to keep the Carbs low. Can you add what you protein count is usually like, it will help us help you Are you vegetarian or vegan? There are so many protein options out there now. Find some protein yogurts that you can eat or add extra protein to your milk and yogurt. Dhal is great for protein, add extra yogurt and seeds to top it.

    Wrecked 10 days out

I still feel a lack of energy when I forget to eat and I am out and about. I always carry a protein bar and stop for a glass of milk if I need extra after that

    Surgery Scheduled for 4/6

We would not be human if we did not fear the unknown. This surgery is a massive leap. Lots of us are not open to telling about our surgery because of the negative feedback from people who think they know it all. This forum is a friendly safe space where we all have aired our good and bad days. We help each other as much as possible. Ask questions, read the back pages, there is over 20 years of them.

    Post op Upset stomach

If you are trying a new food then its best to try it at home first. If you are going to get the foamies then its so much better to be alone in your own bathroom.
  13. Chat to your surgeon, they have years of experience and knowledge.

    Post op Upset stomach

I never did the puree stage. The food looked so yucky and my taste buds were so off. I had soup and broth for those two weeks and went straight to soft foods. Just do what ever you can to get as much protein and liquid in you as possible. Try them again when you feel like it. I couldn't eat chicken or fish for a whole year. I tried them every month but vomited every time. Then just when I thought I would never be able to eat them again - they are accepted in my stomach again. Carbs are another thing that I am struggling with but I am ok with never eating them again, they were my nemesis. We are all different and our bodies all take different lengths of time to heal. As they say - one size does not fit all

    Inspire protein powders & eats

I just add the fruit to the milk and blend it. I can add milk powder and or the peanut butter for extra protein

First Post - Surgery Scheduled April 12

Many of us on this forum have never told anyone else their surgery plans just for this reason. We walk in our own shoes, we went on our own ride to get to our weight. No body else knows how tough a road we lived and how unhealthy it has made us. Back your own judgement. If its time for you to go through this, then you will know. Yes the first 4 days of the pre op diet are brutal and then it gets easier [ well you get used to it] its a means to an end. You have done really well so far. My advice for what its worth is - do it. We did it, you can

    Inspire protein powders & eats

Since surgery, I have never been able to stomach the protein shakes. Thankfully I was told to drink milk, which I love. It packs loads of protein and you can add extra dried milk powder to it and that makes it have extra protein. Its cheap and you can flavour it how you like. I liked banana, strawberry and unsweetened peanut butter

    ROBOTIC SLEEVE SURGERY

I watched robotic surgery on TV. The surgeon was operating on a child and the site was tiny. The surgeon was sitting at a machine that moved the robot. Check it out on YouTube, its amazing stuff
  19. Lost 2 stone myself on a low fat diet I lost 5 stone with Weight watchers, put it back on in 2 years Lost 2 stone with the local doctors weigh in clinic, Tried prescription diet pills, hated them I lost 7 stone with Slimming world, put it back on over 10 years with stopping smoking and the Covid lock in. So I just couldn't face the whole diet struggle again. I just knew I wanted this surgery, I paid. I am overjoyed with my results. You and only you will know if you are ready to do this, its tough for some, me included. I had no pain with the surgery but had months of nausea and had trouble with my restriction. Would I have had this surgery in my 30's if I could get it on the NHS, hell yes. All my life has been ruled by the weighing scales, calories and feeling guilty if I ate something 'bad'. I now feel liberated
  20. Yep I had it too. It made me really weak. The nausea was wicked. I doubled up my PPI and things started to improve slowly. Just check you have not become lactose intolerant. It happens. I also stopped my iron in my multivitamin

    Weight gain

I average about 1200 a day. My team wanted me to up my calories as I was running short on energy. I feel better now.

    Weight gain

This week I had two consecutive lunches that were very, very salty. I gained a pound each day. In my case its just water. It will slowly disappear. You will get used to these little fluctuations. I log all my foods and know my calories and protein every day. I therefore know I am always in a calorie deficit. It really helps

Anyone else doing this in their 60's?

There are lots of us in the over 60's and some over 70's. All, I think are sorry they did not do it sooner in life. I also am not diabetic anymore and do not need any blood pressure meds. Win win
  25. Wowsers, you are way more prepared than I was. I was just scared that I was too old, disabled and fat that he wouldn't take me on. I worried for nothing. He was delightful and I was a little bit in love with him. His aftershave was so nice. As you can see, I never said much, I was to star struck
