    Complications 11 yrs after surgery

If you have doubts at any time for any reason, pause your surgery until you feel the time is right. I asked my surgeon what the stats were and found my up and coming sleeve surgery was so much safer than the knee replacement that I also need.
  2. Like @catwoman7 I tell overweight people who genuinely want to know how I did it. Skinny people - I just say I do a low or no carb diet. If they say how much weight have I lost, I just say a lot and laugh or have I ? My family I tell the truth when ever I meet them. Its too late for them to have an opinion. I have found that nobody understands my tiny meals. Eating out is really tough.

    Grazing, is this normal?

I would say that I graze all day too. I still have a good restriction, especially where meats are concerned, so to get my protein and enough calories in, I eat tiny meals all day. If don't manage to eat it, I will go back to it later. Protein yogurt for breakfast, Homemade lentil and vegetable soup for lunch, cheese and fruit snack in the afternoon. Meat or fish and vegetables for evening meal, nuts and seeds watching TV and a glass of milk before bed. It works for me and my constipation
  5. I love a cross body handbag. My NSV is having to shorten the strap because the bag hangs way to low now that my back is so much thinner.
  6. Many people on here have said they are weighing heavier after their surgery and say its because they are pumped full of water to hydrate them for the weeks after when its tough to drink for many. So you are really lucky that you have no issues there. Water can weigh heavy so just give it time and this will pass! You feel like you are failing., Please don't. How many calories a day are you logging ? If you could have compared yourself to me at the same stage, I was lucky to get in 300 a day. I was so ill. My body was hanging onto every calorie it could get hold of. People were racing ahead of me BUT, in the end it didn't matter, as I healed my weight dropped. I got to where I am now happy with myself. Listen to the nurse, give yourself 6 months to a year to do this. Its not magic. You have to put lots of effort in to get to the weight you desire. You may also be in a early version of the dreaded 3 week stall. Hang in there and keep away from the scales if you can.

    Vacation tips

You can always drink milk and milkshakes in place of protein shakes. Cheese, deli meat and yogurts are easily sourced too.
  8. My advice for what its worth would be, 1 Rest when your body says so, have a nap whenever you can. 2 Don't rush the process, your stomach has a massive wound in it and will be swollen and sore, hence the need for liquid and puree stages. 3 Remember the 3 week stall, you won't panic when you stop loosing weight. 4 Don't compare yourself to anyone else. This is your weight loss journey. No two journeys are the same. Good luck and keep us posted of your progress

    began preop diet on 2/6/27

I had three weeks of the pre op torture too. I thought I would never do it but my desire for the surgery got me to the finish line. You should feel less hungry now and the second week seems like less torturous. The thought of being operated on and the surgery ended is a worry to all of us. Nobody wants to wake up without the surgery because of an enlarged fatty liver, its happened. I read the back pages of this forum while I waited and learned so much

    gastric problem abdominal pain

I suffered with terrible constipation early in my journey. When it was really bad I had headaches, nausea and wicked belly aches. Once I started to drink like I did pre surgery, these symptoms mostly disappeared. I make sure to take a fibre supplement, which I detest, and now am able to add fruit and vegetables to my daily diet, I have almost solved my problem.

    Food Before and After Photos

An older Italian chef encouraged me to try some 'over-ripe' Gorgonzola that was almost walking off the plate. I have never looked back. Its the No. 1 on my top cheese list

    Konjac Noodles with the Balloon

I had the sleeve and I have had these noodles and rice. We get ones made from water and mushroom here. Both have been ok with me but my portion size is tiny. I can't say they won't upset you but try a little and see.

Am I the only miserable one?

This is a tough surgery, its so difficult to believe we will ever eat normally again. I know from this forum that we will be able to eat take away foods in the future but just not to the extent that we could before. Yes I have felt loss and early on real regret because I had it tough. I personally am getting used to eating Chinese and Thai foods without the delicious rice and noodles. It just is not the same as before. If I had the choice of big stomach back or keep my weight loss then in a heartbeat I would say I love the new me so 'meh' to the carbs
  14. Yes its normal, there is fibre in the protein shakes. Plus you are taking psyllium husk 3 times a day which is more fibre. This bulks out your stools and I hope it explains things for you.

    Pre-Workout Food Recommendations

If you struggle with the bread try something like porridge with your berries. I second the Clif bars, I always carry one in case of a energy drop or missed meal

    LOST MY MOJO

Hello my forum friend, Will you allow me tell you that you are not failing. You have lost a ton of weight and have done so well. You have hit a bump in the road, we cant be perfect 24/7. You have done almost a year of total dedication to the plan and are having a little time out. You haven't done anything too out off control and you know you want to progress further. Go shopping with a list of foods you need for a healthy diet. Get rid of the bad food, it doesn't make you strong. Do one meal at a time and progress to a day, you have the tool to do this even when the pill goes against you. Hormones stink. Don't struggle alone.

I hate myself for going through with WLS

I had a long 8 months to wait for this surgery and thought I was very prepared. I read this forum from back to front. 20 years worth of problems and advice. I didn't know it all though, I didn't know that hormones live in fat cells and when we loose a lot of weight quickly we had all these hormones rushing around our bodies like puberty on steroids. I was having a tough time of it with nausea and vomiting too. I cried for a week and did not know why. I asked for help on here and got it. The answer, too many hormones at a time when I was overwhelmed with trying to do everything right. I think you need anti nausea medication. So, You are not alone. Its normal to feel like you are. As you have realised its big surgery and now you have to get to grips with it, there is no going back. IT WILL GET BETTER. You wont have to chew food like this forever, it just helps your tiny stomach digest your food so that you get the nutrients from it. Your headaches could be from dehydration, its tough to get all the liquids and food in early on, it feels like it will never get better but it does. Just do your very best everyday to get your liquid and protein onboard. That way you will improve every day and doing that will improve your mental health a little Please seek counselling for your eating disorders, hopefully you can find one who understands bariatrics too. OR talk to us on here, you can rage, cry and get these feeling off your chest and it may help a little bit. We don't mind, the ones before us did the same for us. You are not alone

    Working in an office...

Congratulations on doing so well against all the food pushers. Your great willpower will serve you well after surgery. Good luck with your surgery date. Could you take some healthy snacks to the office and show them a better way ?
  19. I am one of the lucky ones, I don't have any hunger 27 days out of 28. I find if I eat 4 or 5 small meals a day works well. That way I can get all my necessary food groups in. Pasta, bread, and potatoes are off my menu, no tolerance of them yet. It has taken me almost a year to master this as I was on really low calories for a long time due to severe restriction and nausea. I can manage to get in 1000 to 1300 calories a day this way and all my protein requirements Breakfast will be a protein yogurt Mid morning a small glass of milk Lunch is usually homemade soup, veg, lentil, mushroom, Thai style or Pho Mid afternoon - a piece of fruit and a small piece of cheese Evening meal - meat and salad or vegetables On my hungry day, I don't let my calories get above 1500 by eating lower calorie foods than on other days

    Nausea

Do you take anti nausea medications ? I take mine twice a day It could be the iron supplement you are taking. I have taken a vitamin without iron since my early days because of sickness. My bloods are fine Are you getting enough liquids, lack of liquids can make you nauseous Its miserable when you feel like this, I hope you get it sorted soon
  21. Sneezing is definitely a sign you are full. However chicken is a food many of us have trouble eating. It took me a year to master one of my pre surgery favourites. If you are only 4 days out then whoa there, contact your team for some information because your internal stitches on your new tiny tummy are very swollen and sore and could rupture if you eat the wrong foods at the wrong time
  22. Hello, welcome and congrats on your new surgery

    Feeling dizzy?

I was just like that and I was taken off my blood pressure meds. Then the symptoms disappeared.

    Taking meds post op

Yes it does get quicker and easier, we all take a different time to get there though. I am still in the habit of breaking up my largest tablets because I would hate to get them stuck, they taste vile. The early days seem like a chore, it seems like it is drink eat and repeat all day. Congratulations on your progress so far.
