Revision from VBG and the 2-wk blues

Another hug from a virtual stranger. The blues you are feeling are seeping into your words. Hang in there, one more hour, do what you know you need too. You are over the worst. x

    Hurry Up and Wait!

I paid all the money. It still took 8 long months. It was during Covid, all the NHS hospitals were filled with Covid patients so many people were paying to go Private for all their surgery needs. I wanted the surgery SO badly that the waiting hurt. I have never been told that I am a patient person Had I lived in the US, my wait could have been less than a week in some cities.

    Puréed Stage

I just could never do the Puree stage, I made my own soups. I added lentils and bacon to vegetables and blitzed it. I added a little cream and found a texture that I could stomach. Just get through it the best you can, it doesn't last forever

Help, Anyone Have The Same Problem?

Yes this was me too, its miserable. You need to go to the emergency room or contact your team and see if you are dehydrated, if you are they will put you on a drip. There are other things that will eventually make you feel better. Biotin spray is brilliant for that awful dry mouth You need to get some anti nausea medication, I take 2 a day, it helped a lot You need to up your liquids everyday, even if its only a little, once you get to your quota, this helps you feel better. The iron in the multivitamin may make you nauseous, I dropped it from my regime. I have never put it back into my vitamin regime because I have never needed it to date. So if this worked for me, it is not proven, I would have tried anything, I was so miserable. We all keep the large amount of acid our stomachs that we had before surgery, this does not help with nausea. Sleep in a recliner if you have one. I didn't, so I put a large book under the top of my bed and bought a wedge pillow Your first bowel movement is a doozy and TMI ALERT, I had to resort to rubber gloves, others have had to go to the ER and let the nurses deal with it. Once you get more liquid and food in you will manage better, plus then you will be able to get some constipation meds. As this medication pulls water into your bowel you can not take it yet. It would make you more dehydrated. I hope you feel better fast

    Calories 1 year post op

My weight loss is slow now. I am trying to expand my menu so lots of different foods with different calorific values. So it may be up and down on any given day but my average is about 1300 this week.
  10. Hello and welcome. You do sound as if you have this sorted. You have to do a week more than me, Cruelty overload. It will fly by though. I did a lot of house cleaning and it was useful because I was so busy after fitting in my water and protein into the new days. Onwards and downwards

    New here!

Hello and welcome. You are very wise not to weigh yourself everyday. The rate of weight lost is so stop start and stop again. If you have to go back to work then rest as much as you can around the work times. Snooze if you can, whenever you can. Leave the housework until next month, ignore it. Your first week back will be hard. Pack lots of little snack packs and lots of drinks.

    7 weeks post op

It a really hard ask when we have all done diets in the past and failed, but we only need to believe in the process. I was a doubter too. All you need to do is stick to your teams plan and have some patience. After you have stalled a few times and stay away from the scales as much, it will sink in that you are steadily loosing.

    Everything tastes bad - EVERYTHING

Yes I had this too and its tough. There are still things that I am 'over' I have gradually expanded my diet and found Thai foods are tasty to me. You will sort it out and find your way. Keep trying different foods

    Low bp/ orthostatic hypotension

I had it and as others said I stood slowly. Once I came off my high dose of BP meds it went away. It was not a big issue for me, the only thing is I always carry a drink and a protein bar when I go out. Its more of a comfort blanket now than actually needing them.

    Conflicting Instructions

I hate water too. I have always used fruit juices in it, all unsweetened, cranberry, orange, grape, apple are my favourites. I also drink unsweetened diluted blackcurrant squash and I make up my own potion that I keep in a jar in the fridge. I make it with Ginger root and lemons. I have this in winter with lots of boiling water and honey to sweeten it

    Food Gets Cold - Solution

I have gotten used to cold food and cold coffee. I thought about buying a baby plate, the kind you pour boiling water underneath but never got around to it. Thankfully now in the UK its salad weather
  20. This is a friendly, kind, safe and helpful place. We are all really glad that we found it. I have found great help here and hope I pass some forward too. I do not know anyone personally who has had this surgery done. I did not tell anyone but my son and husband initially. Women can be really bitchy and I did not need the uneducated backlash. Now that I have lost all this weight, I am more mobile and can get out and about. I have started to grow my circle of friends. I volunteer at a charity shop one day a week, its great fun and I love it. Its great to look forwards to some thing again instead of being almost housebound

    Bloating & Gas Pains

I have really noisy burping if I have eaten to quickly or eaten carbs [ potatoes mostly] I suck a tablet called Wind Relief in the UK. I hate this uncomfortable feeling
  22. You have a staple line or stitches across your new tiny stomach, this early in your new life , you need to be careful of them. You have a way to go to heal properly. Learning how to eat again is tough. Eat with a small spoon. Slowly. Wait for the full signals. It gets easier as you go through the food stages. Then you will feel a proper restriction. I never got hungry signals just acid gurgling and churning. Some people do though. If you can manage a 1/4 cup then that sounds ok. It is only very soft food after all. It might take longer to eat fish and meats. Everyone is different, I could only manage 2 teaspoons of yogurt but I enjoyed them. It gets easier after the first week or so
  23. I had the one with low carb veg too. 3 weeks..... I roasted them, with and without spice Made them into Thai style broths with water noodles. Made them into curry, lots of curries with cauliflower rice. Made loads of veg soups and vegetable dips Had a great variety of salads with sugar/ fat free dressings I wished I knew more veggie recipes. At the end I was so over it

    Afraid to eat.

I had so much trouble with salmon, so much so that I have really stopped eating it and before the surgery it was my favourite food after noodles. I can eat smoked salmon but I hate the taste now. Potatoes are also still off my menu, I got the foamies last night after trying them again for supper. Try foods with sauce like bolognaise, chilli, braised meat and veg. If you need something softer - try chunky soups, soft scrambled eggs, ricotta bake, crust less quiche or chicken thighs lightly cooked in Pho or broth with a few veggies. Do not be afraid of eating, just go back a step, be patient with your toddler tummy. We are not all the same and you are very early in your journey PS My team said it was ok to have tiny sips of drinks [ they said hot drinks were best] PPS You wont get slated in here, we have all 'broke the rules' because every team has a different idea on any given subject

    Huge stall, binge eating

Try and get some help before this gets out of control and you feel that you have failed. Contact your team and a therapist quickly, You are not the first and person to struggle. I still have a fear of loosing my restriction and doing the same. Chocolate is my nemesis
