UK Mounjaro friends!
summerseeker replied to xKirstenx's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
Hes on the max dose now he tells me. I am away from him at the moment visiting family so I am unsure of the cc's. Hes been on it since the Novenber, so pretty good. Hes very immobile so its all down to it lessening his appetite. 16 kgs is a lot. 2.5+ stones, I work in old weights. Imagine carrying that weight of potatoes with you now. You might not see it on yourself but next time you go to Asda just look at the potatoes, put them on the scale. Its a lot x -

Need to decide which surgery to go with
summerseeker replied to cjpom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had to pay for all my surgery. I chose the sleeve because it cost £2000 less than RNY. I have ended up with GERD so really wish that money wasn't the issue back then. Otherwise I am overjoyed with my new skinny life. -

Sleeve to Bypass Revision Aftercare Fears
summerseeker replied to SKOrtiz78's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
No you won't. This is a safe place. We are all human, we fail. The pre op sucks, I dreaded it but managed, just. The rest just happens because I make it. Sometimes you just have to 'man up' and get the thing done. I feel your fears and want to hug you better. Forgive your past mistakes and love yourself as much as you love your family x -
Head Hunger!!
summerseeker replied to Bessieboop1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The simple answer is yes. Just getting a small stomach does not cure your brain. It is hard wired to feast whenever there is a glut of food and unfortunately that is what is all around us these days. I waited 30 years for this surgery so this is me - I allow myself 1500 calories a day. I religiously track them I could easily eat around my sleeve, I love chocolate and dont have any will power. If I open a bar then I eat it. So I buy the packs of tiny 25gram bars. I have increased my activity. I walk everywhere. I shop better for quality protein rich foods and menu plan, You may find when your new stomach has healed, about 6 - 12 weeks out, you will hopefully feel your restriction kick in. You should feel the full signals. Certain foods fill me longer than other. I physically can not eat or drink for two hours after eating meat. Mince it and I can go again after an hour. Its a massive learning curve. -
2 Weeks Post Insertion Need Advice Please
summerseeker replied to Kez6670's topic in Gastric Balloon Forum
Contact your surgeon's office for advice. For your peace of mind you need to know whats, what. I don't know nothing about balloon weight loss but some bariatric patients have hunger from the outset and some need secondary surgery. Some people feel hunger when they need some form of stomach medication to cope with the ammount of acid in their stomach. Excess acid can make you feel hungry -
Eyes sting in the evening
summerseeker replied to Vaughan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you just have dry tear ducts ? Do you work in air con all day ? My doctor says to put a clean cloth into boiling water and when you can stand the heat at its hottest put it over your eyes. It is supposed to unblock the ducts. It worked for us -
Sleeved 2 weeks ago
summerseeker replied to Bessieboop1981's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hiya. Loads of us struggle with foods and hydration. Even now My stomach will say a resounding NO to something it was pleased to see the day before. I had terrible trouble with smells, my wild hormones made my brain think my body was pregnant. I called on my team such a lot through these stages. They were very understanding and helpful. They told me not to worry about what I couldn't do. TBH I struggled for months but once I could get my hydration right, I felt so much better. My surgeon was against protein shakes and had me on skimmed milk. It has great protein and you can add protein powder or my fav was peanut butter and banana. I was allowed coffee so had lattes. Some have dairy aversions so its not for everyone. I couldn't do pureed meat, it revolted me just looking at it. I made soups with lentils and beans in and added cheese. I blitzed these and ate it thick. I tried to eat 6 tiny meals a day. I ate a lot of low cal ice lollies, still do, addicted. Just do your best, its a tough time -
2 Weeks Post Insertion Need Advice Please
summerseeker replied to Kez6670's topic in Gastric Balloon Forum
It was a big shock to me that I wouldn't loose every day/week after my surgery. I also asked on here and the answer was, You will have stall weeks and the further out you are the longer they will last. You can't break them by diet or exercise, you just have to be patient. I eventually got used to it. The fact that you have a different type of tool will not make a difference. You are eating a very reduced amount of food, 800 calories. You are in a huge deficit, remember that. Weight loss is inevitable. Like everything else in life, it does not happen as we dream it to be. It is highly annoying though. As long as you are tracking your food and drink and are moving more every week then you can't fail. -

For the last couple of years I have been to Rhodes. This year I am trying Crete. I have extensively Googled it. There are loads of hidden coves. The bus goes around the coast. Its all so easy. Nearly everyone speaks excellent English. -

I have been sat about since Christmas. We got Rain, Snow and more rain. Its dark, cold and oh so depressing. I was huddling on the sofa watching rubbish TV and eating badly. Then I booked my summer holiday, my winter blues flew out of the window. I am dreaming of blue Greek skies and being warm on the beach. I got my act together. You have put too much effort into yourself to let things slide too far. Do something today that gets you feeling happier -
How did you get your water in???
summerseeker replied to Spoole0902's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I hope so. Relearning to drink is one of the most frustrating things to overcome. I drank so little in the beginning my mouth was so dry. Every morning I woke up with a dry mouth, an awful sensation. -
Congratulations, its the best feeling. Its also a weight I never want to go back over. Onederland for ever !

How did you get your water in???
summerseeker replied to Spoole0902's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yes its a very common symptom. Drink slow, tiny sips. Its a real chore until your internal suture line calms and water can trickle through better. Hot drinks thankfully worked better for me. Maybe a chat with your team might be beneficial. I was an outlier, I really struggled. It took me 3 months to get all my required water allowance in. You should hopefully feel a difference next week. Keep struggling through, its worth it. Once you can master this you will feel so much better. -
I still have an itchy scalp, it drives me crazy. I am regular at the hair salon asking for a lice check. [ I know her well] I now have to buy extreemly expensive, lightweight shampoo to calm it. I put the dryness and dandruff down to a lack of greasy, oily foods in my diet. They make me dump. Never thought it could be surgery driven

Had my consult 01/14/25
summerseeker replied to Alisa_S's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
A few of us have only told our most supportive friends and family before we had the surgery. I personally didn't need any of the negativity that comes from worried others, people who think they know about the surgery or the one person that I know who failed with a sleeve. I find that people will post things on facebook that they might not say to your face. If they did, you would get a chance to ask why they felt you may be the same as them. It is a brutal test to see if you can loose this big amount of weight pre surgery but plenty people have managed it. I had a 3 week liver shrink diet. I cursed that surgeon every day of it. AND I was paying for the privilege. I very badly wanted the surgery, my life depended on it. Thats what got me through. You will have to find the disipline from somewhere and start as soon as you can. Start moving more, walking was my go to. Started small and ended up finding the world. Find a tracker you can use every day. Set yourself a reasonable calorie limit. Log everything you eat and drink. Good or bad. I still do it, I use Fat Secret. There are lots of other free sites. Eat fresh food, home cooked. You know the calories then. Plan your food and buy it in. That way you will never be tempted to get a take out Its a test but you can get there. Keep on this site, keep talking to us. -
Pre-op diet and I’m starvinggg!!! Need surgery buddies Jan.2025
summerseeker replied to theVSGgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Its a tough ask to ask people who are very overweight to eat like a sparrow. We all feared this part. I thought it was bitterly cruel doing 3 weeks of milk and vegetables. I was so over this diet I ran into the operating theatre. The only thing that kept me on the straight and narrow was the fact that if my liver was still fatty, the surgery would stop and I would wake up with out the surgery. It has happened to a few people on here and they were heart broken. We are with you and if you want to vent, somewhere in the world, is a person on here ready to listen -

Returning to College
summerseeker replied to PeachyPaige's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Well I kind of did the poof and now I am skinny. Its not really what I thought it would be or now want During the Covid lock down, house arrest in the Uk, I had the surgery. I told no one and then when the country opened again, I did the big reveal. I was / am a stranger in the small town that I have lived in for 55 years. My husband has a strange mistress and a gets congratulated and a back pat while I, the ' mistress' get ignored. When he puts them correct, the shock is too much for them to believe. One man said to him ' You must be so proud now ' ffs. I am used to it but hate it at the same time. I liked the popular me. If you are gradually loosing weight then those around you at college will not realise until you get near your goal and start to look too thin to them
