Clothing not fitting the same as before
Wahinebythesea replied to TinaRN's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Vanity sizing. As people have gotten bigger, the manufacturers have dropped the sizes on their clothing without actually changing the measurements (the idea being if you are a size 16 in one brand and a size 12 in the other, you'll buy the size 12 just because you feel better about it). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanity_sizing -
This is probably spot on

You can be sure . . . just compare the contents of your multivitamin to Table 6 of the paper that catwoman7 referenced above. (NB: You don't want too much of many of these either, particularly folate). My multivitamin meets requirements with one pill per day (but I need extra B12, calcium citrate and vitamin D).

What should I aim for in terms of healthy goal weight?
Wahinebythesea replied to ThanaK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
"A patient's best weight is therefore whatever weight they can achieve while living the healthiest lifestyle they can truly enjoy. There comes a point when a person cannot eat less or exercise more and still like their life." (emphasis mine) - Drs. Freedhoff and Sharma, 2010 https://obesitycanada.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Best-Weight-Book.pdf What I've been told is that most people don't make it to that number they have in their head, and where you want to land is where you're happy with how you feel. -
Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first
Wahinebythesea replied to chiquitatummy's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm only at the dreaded very low calorie, low carbohydrate liquid pre-op diet stage, but I've noticed my fierce migraines (with aura) have vanished. Completely. It's wild. So I'm hoping my most beloved non-scale victory will be freedom from migraines! Has anyone else had their migraines improve after surgery? -

Educational / motivational educators?
Wahinebythesea posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I'm pre-surgery (self-pay) in Canada, and the process is incredibly smooth and quick. But on the other hand, apart from the nuts and bolts of the diet, not much attention is spent on the other educational aspects of post-rny life. Could anyone suggest sources of educational / motivational authors for me to dive into to get a better sense of what I'm going to be encountering on the journey? I'd heard of Dr. Duc Vuong - anyone else you're found helpful? -
